Author has written 4 stories for Rosario + Vampire, Soul Eater, Batman, and World Only God Knows/神のみぞ知るセカイ. Hi there! My name's Tom, and I'm really happy to be here, surrounded by others who share my (probably unhealthy) fascination with anime/manga, and a lot of other things Japanese...! I live in Massachusetts (almost made my profile name "MassHole," but convinced myself otherwise at the last minute... I got deeply into anime in junior high, and carried that burden of obsession all through high school, and into the Navy, where for 6 years I was a nuclear engineer by day and a good-for-nothing otaku by night. Ever since I was a kid, I've loved writing... It's a combination of the love of creating something that's my own (and even though some of the things I write are based on another's original work, I think we all can agree that it's still satisfying to leave our own distinct individual mark on something), and the thought of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people out there, who might one day read what I wrote, and are able to sense what I was feeling, thinking when I wrote it. The ideals of fiction writing are too appealing for those with the capacity, I believe... I guess one of my biggest goals in joining this community is to meet others who feel the same way I do, and being able to share ideas and stories with them in ways that would otherwise be impossible. How else would you be able to connect with people you'd never otherwise meet with similar ideals in countries that you'll probably never visit...? Anyway, if you've already done the math based on my earlier introduction, you might have noticed that I'm probably a little further on in years than most people here, but I hope that won't preclude anyone from contacting me and discussing different ideas. So, that aside, my favorite anime/manga include: YuYu Hakusho I'm sure there are a ton more, but I'm pretty tired and I'll have to update this later! ' My list of favorite writers is almost as cumbersome, but some of the top ones include Stephen King, Ayn Rand, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, George R. R. Martin, Ken Follett, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, F. Scott Fitzgerald, E. E. Cummings, R. L. Stine (c'mon, someone else has to remember Goosebumps books!), Anne Rice, etc. etc. etc... Some of my favorite non-anime-based movies include pretty much everything by Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2, Inglorious Basterds), Christopher Nolan (Following, Memento, Insomnia, Batman Trilogy, The Prestige, Inception), everything John Cusack has ever been in, for the most part (Grosse Point Blank, Say Anything, Pushing Tin, Serendipity, High Fidelity, even Must Love Dogs, 1408, and The Raven; hell, he was even good in Con Air...), of course the recent slew of Marvel movies leading up to Joss Whedon's EPIC Avengers movie, everything Guy Ritchie has done (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels; Snatch; Revolver; the Sherlock Holmes movies; Rock n' Rolla), Pool Hall Junkies, Green Street Hooligans, just about all of the Martin Scorcese/Leonardo DiCaprio movies (The Aviator, Shutter Island, Gangs of New York, The Departed), The Godfather I & II, The Seven Samurai and the associated Western: The Magnificent Seven, blah blah blah... You get the idea. Anyway, that's a good start for now... If you are bored, give my story a try! Nice to meet you, and keep writing! Remember, everything is for the Constant Reader... always. -Tom Update - 5/11/2014 Mesdames and Messieurs, good evening. It's me, after a long, unexplained hiatus. The past 12 months have been a whirlwind of activity and emotion. I won't go into all the gritty details, but suffice it to say that writing has not been a top priority for me for the past while. However! I am now in a better position to settle in again and do what I fell in love with a couple of years ago, on one fateful morning when I sat myself down and first put words to word processor for my first fic, "3 Nights, 3 Dates, x4 Girls! Huh?!" I'd like to interject a quick word into my own monologue and say thank you so much to everyone who has read, favorite'd, reviewed, and followed that story. But some of you are probably wondering about what I alluded to earlier! I am back, and am writing again for my Soul Eater fic, "Just So You Know". I no longer live in Massachusetts, but instead now reside in Texas with my wonderful fiancée. I have several "snippets" of the upcoming chapters for "Just So You Know", and a full outline finished to work against. This fic started out as a collaboration, and I am not altering the fic's synopsis that states that; however, I have been out of touch with HybridTailedFox for months now... and have no idea if he's still active, interested, etc. in still being a part of this project. I will do all the writing, editing, checking for story continuity, and updating myself from here on out. I hope that those of you who like the anime/manga, or my writing in general, will enjoy it. My Batman fic, "Bruce Wayne: Origins" is on the backburner for the foreseeable future. It didn't exactly make a big splash to begin with, and I really need to sit down and draft a working outline for it anyway (that's just how I write lately... a bit technical/inartistic, but please forgive me!). But, I have no plans to abandon any of my fics. They are precious to me, living breathing entities which I brought into the world through my own labor. I sincerely hope that you will join me for the ride in bringing them fully to life, and crafting them into solid stories. Thanks for all the support 2012-2013. Here's to making this year a success! Good reading, and for those of you with you own stories to tell, good writing! -Tom |
