Greg Lestrade is in a rut: there's not much in his life that brings any joy these days. If this is a mid-life crisis, he'd rather skip it and retire. Maybe he needs a holiday. Maybe he should chuck it all in and go live on a boat. He knows something needs to change, but what?

This story is the result of the winning bid in the 2018 charity auction for mark Gatiss' birthday won by @Phoenixrising2014.

This is Part II of Bricks and Mortar. I strongly recommend you read the first part before reading this story otherwise a great many things will be meaningless.

I wrote this vignette for the Mycroft Holmes Fanbook currently in production. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later that I saw the wonderful Evabrite had published her narrative 'Your Responsibility' /works/9575330 and I realised the stories were serendipitously similar. Mycroft: The early years. Moving to London straight from Oxford university, Mycroft Holmes begins work in an obscure government department in Whitehall. He has been recruited to be the successor of Sir David Bonneville, the department's Director. This is one of the stories from that time.

A Mycroft Holmes/Dark materials crossover which appeared from nowhere, yet absolutely insisted on being written down even though I was in the middle of writing something else. As I've never read Pullman's novels, I have no clue where this came from, but there we are. Nothing to do with higher reasoning at all.

A story about abductions and art forgery, British security and the Holmes family. This story is for InEchoingSilence who is not feeling very well and needed a bit of cheering up. Hopefully it will provide something to while away a little time.
