![]() Author has written 5 stories for Lord of the Rings, and Supernatural. Mae govannen. I am Delia Brethilwen. It's been a while since I was last active on fanfiction.net, so I thought I'd update my profile a bit. I like to think I've matured a bit since the last time I wrote this profile, and others have told me that's true, but I'll let you be the judge. I have joined some new fandoms in the interval, including one or two I never thought I would join. As a writer of fanfiction, I try my best to be as faithful as possible to the book/movie/show I am writing in. I've worked the most on my Lord of the Rings fic because it's the one I am most passionate about, but there are going to be a couple of new ones joining it soon that will hopefully be of the same caliber. Note: I do not write fics for all of my fandoms. Only the ones that I am most passionate about, most moved by. My favorite authors, in order (more or less): J.R.R. Tolkien, Veronica Roth, Tamora Pierce, Orson Scott Card, Terry Pratchett, J. K. Rowling, John Flanagan My favorite stand-alone books: The Book Thief, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and others I can't remember at the moment. My favorite movies: anything Marvel but most recently Avengers: Age of Ultron, How to Train Your Dragon series, Serenity, the new Star Treks, Warm Bodies, Odd Thomas, Die Hard (just the first one), The Fifth Element, and many others. My favorite television shows: Doctor Who, Sherlock, Supernatural (yes, I have graduated to the SuperWhoLock fandom, somehow), Firefly, Fringe, Warehouse 13, The Blacklist, Star Trek (any of them but especially Voyager), and many others. Also, my favorite Avenger is, without a doubt, Hawkeye. I've started reading the new comics that have come out about him, by Aja, Polido, and Fraction. They're great. MY FAVORITE QUOTES "If I stopped breathing, Peter would probably throw a party." "Well, I would only go if there was cake." - Tris and Four (Divergent) "Sarcasm isn't the lowest form of wit... It isn't even wit at all." - Halt (Ranger's Apprentice) "If you worry you'll lose, you probably will." - Halt (Ranger's Apprentice) "After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." - Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter) "Oh, well ... I'd just been thinking ... if you had died, you'd have been welcome to share my toilet." - Moaning Myrtle (Harry Potter) "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." - Sirius Black (Harry Potter) "Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth." - Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter) "Books bend space and time." - Terry Pratchett (Guards! Guards!) "It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” - Bilbo Baggins (The Lord of the Rings) “It's like in the Great Stories, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too young to understand why. But I think I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something-that there's some good in the world, and it's worth fighting for!” - Sam Gamgee (The Lord of the Rings) “A hunted man sometimes wearies of distrust and longs for friendship.” - Strider, a.k.a. Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings) “The enemy? His sense of duty was no less than yours, I deem. You wonder what his name is, where he came from. And if he was really evil at heart. What lies or threats led him on this long march from home. If he would not rather have stayed there in peace. War will make corpses of us all.” - Faramir (The Lord of the Rings) “Master Meriadoc,’ said Aragorn, ‘if you think that I have passed through the mountains and the realm of Gondor with fire and sword to bring herbs to a careless soldier who throws away his gear, you are mistaken, If your pack has not been found, then you must send for the herb-master of this House, And he will tell you that he did not know the herb you desire had any virtues, but that it is called westmansweed by the vulgar, and galenas by the noble, and other names in other tongues more learned, and after adding a few half-forgotten rhymes that he does not understand, he will regretfully inform you that there is none in the House, and he will leave you to reflect on the history of tongues.” - Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings) “So do all men who live to see such times. All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us.” - Gandalf (The Lord of the Rings) Choose 12 Characters 1. Frodo Baggins 2. Sam Gamgee 3. Legolas 4. Merry Brandybuck 5. Pippin Took 6. Gandalf 7. Aragorn 8. Tobias Eaton 9. Tris Prior 10. Caleb Prior 11. Ender Wiggin 12. Valentine Wiggin 1. Who would make a better college professor, 6 or 11? Gandalf or Ender. Gandalf, because he's older, wiser, and he's the equivalent of an angel. But then again, Ender really is a professor, on Trondheim. 2. 8 sends 12 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed? Tobias sends Valentine on a mission. Val's not a fighting kind of girl at all. She prefers to use her words. But she would respect Tobias because he knows what he's doing and she'd try to do the thing he asked of her to the best of her ability. 3. What is or would be 9’s favorite book? Tris' favorite book would probably have to do with a nice Abnegation family living in peace at home. 4. Would it make sense for 2 to swear at 6, or the other way around? Sam would be too scared of being turned into a toad to swear at Gandalf, unless Gandalf sent Frodo into unimaginable danger (which he does). But I think it would be more likely for Gandalf to swear at Sam for being foolish. 5. 5 is looking for a roommate. Should he or she share an apartment with 9 or 10? Pippin's looking for a roommate. I think he'd be better off with Caleb, honestly, because Caleb's got more patience than Tris. 6. 11 goes out dancing. Would they prefer to dance with 4 or 7? Ender doesn't dance, though. He's not really a dancing kind of guy. But he'd probably take Aragorn, since they're more alike in character. 7. 3 Challenges 10 to a duel. What happens? Legolas challenges Caleb to a duel. Obviously Legolas wins because Caleb is an Abnegation-turned-Erudite, so no way he has the training to beat an Elf. 8. If 1 stole 8’s most precious possession, how would they get back? If Frodo stole Tris from Tobias, Tobias would probably hurt Frodo very much. Maybe even kill him. Just look what he did to Jeanine and the Erudite. 9. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 10 both obtain what they most desire. Aragorn wants Arwen, and Caleb wants more and more knowledge. Hmm. Love and Books, perhaps? 10. What is 6’s secret? Gandalf's not really a human; he's one of the Maiar, which is the equivalent of an angel. No one knows but him and the elves. 11. If you could command 3 to perform any one service for you, what would it be? I would have Legolas teach me all his tricks with the bow and arrows and twin knives. And he'd teach me how to climb trees really fast. 12. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5 who would it be? If Sam had to choose sides between Pippin and Merry?? I think the world would end, because they're all good friends. 13. What might 10 shout whilst charging into battle? "Can't we please just talk this out like the rational people I know we can be?" Caleb shouted as he ran hunched over behind Tris for protection. 14. 3 has a heart attack, and 4 is the surgeon. Will 3 survive? Legolas would never have a heart attack because he's an elf, but if he somehow had one and Merry had to be the surgeon, I'd be saying my good-bye to beloved Legolas. 15. If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would it be? "Open Wounds" by Skillet would represent Tobias well, I think. At least the bit about his father and the abuse. 16. 1, 6 and 12 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reached for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it? Frodo would be generous and let the other two decide, since he prefers good plain food instead. Gandalf gives it to Valentine because he is a gentleman and defers to the ladies. Valentine is very polite and says thank you a lot. 17. What would 5 most likely be arrested for? Pippin would so be arrested for public intoxication. 18. If 9 and 11 were racing to a destination, who would get there first? Tris and Ender are racing. It's a tie. 19. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8? Both: Aragorn can take the Nazgul, and Tobias can beat up anyone. 20. Yay, it’s the last question! What will 3 and 9 do to celebrate? Legolas will have a drinking game at Edoras, and Tris will eat Dauntless cake. |
