A sequel to "Alpine Interlude" which tells of the lives of the Bransons, the Crawleys, and the Schönborns during the Coronation Year of 1937, culminating with a visit by the Bransons and the Schönborns to Downton Abbey in December of that same year. But, nothing is quite what it seems. And while there are storm clouds abroad, there are also problems which are rather closer to home.

Following their visit to Italy in 1932, now in the summer of 1933, the Bransons, the Crawleys and all of their children pay an extended visit to Friedrich and Edith von Schonborn's magnificent home - Rosenberg - in Lower Austria. But while it is a time for the three families to rest, relax, and play, already the storm clouds are gathering over central Europe.

Danny Branson, Robert Crawley, and Max Schonborn, first cousins and the very best of friends; so much so that their doting parents named them "The Three Musketeers". Set during the early years of the Second World War. While all about them dissolves into chaos and darkness, the knowledge that one day they will meet again helps keep the young men focused on living for the future.

December 1942. Christmas is the time of goodwill to one and all. Here at Downton, during WWII, the electricity supply to the parish church has failed; the organ cannot be played, there is no lighting, and the Annual Carol Service is in very grave danger of being cancelled. Then, help comes. And from a most unexpected quarter. A Seasonal offering from "The White Cliffs Of Dover".

The Second World War is now over. And, in its aftermath, while much has been lost, much yet remains. Now, for the Bransons in Ireland, the Crawleys in England, and the Schönborns in France, there comes the struggle of rebuilding their lives and trying to come to terms with a world which for them, as well as for others, has changed forever. A sequel to "The White Cliffs of Dover".

So, just how was it that Max, Friedrich and Edith's elder son came to be such an accomplished dancer? Set both before and during WWII. A short companion piece to my other stories, telling the lives of the Bransons, the Crawleys and the Schönborns 1918-1945 and beyond. The idea for this tale came from the opening sequence of the film "Photographing Fairies".

The fifth of my series of eight linked stories. So, what happened during that very last summer before the Second World War began, when the Bransons and the Crawleys went to stay with the Schönborns at La Rosière, Friedrich and Edith's beautiful château beside the River Loire in France. For those of you who so loved the adventures of the Three Musketeers: Danny, Robert, and Max.

June 1940: the Second World War has begun and the Battle of Britain is about to begin. Everything the Bransons, the Crawleys, and the Schonborns hold dear is now threatened with destruction, by war and by invasion. The last of my seven stories, preceded by "Home Is Where The Heart Is", "Reunion", "The Rome Express", "Rain, Steam, And Speed", "Summer of '39", and "The Snow Waltz".

Summer 1936. A short companion piece to my other stories; set after the events described in "The Rome Express" and before those in "Summer of '39". Over in Ireland young Danny Branson has acquired a sweetheart; while across the sea in England his Aunt Mary is eagerly anticipating a second honeymoon in Scotland. However, nothing is quite what it seems.

Nine years after the end of the Irish Civil War, Tom and Sybil Branson, Matthew and Mary Crawley now earl and countess of Grantham, along with all their children embark on an eventful trip to the Continent of Europe. Mayhem ensues. Do please read and review.

In the aftermath of the burning of Cork and Skerries House, Tom Branson vanished; later believed to have been killed at Allihies in Ireland in January 1921. After he returned to Downton Abbey in June 1921, what then happened? For those of you who so loved "Home Is Where The Heart Is", a sequel beginning where that story ended; a lead in to "The Rome Express".

The story of Tom Branson and Lady Sybil Crawley set against the contemporary backdrop of the Irish War of Independence. Now fully updated and continuing, the earlier chapters have been posted again for those who may have missed them. Some of the later chapters contain scenes which some readers may find upsetting. Tom and Robert will never see eye to eye, especially on matters relating to either Sybil or else Ireland. This little offering relates the aftermath of a "blazing row" in the Dining Room. Will Tom make it across the hall to the Drawing Room for coffee or does Robert have other plans for his handsome Irish son-in-law?

Tom and Sybil have returned to Downton Abbey, but they have no intention of conforming to the Rules of the House. This is a taster of my revised Magnum Opus - Home Is Where The Heart Is - which, if there is sufficient interest I may be tempted to post on here once again.

Lady Sybil Branson died in the summer of 1920, survived by her baby daughter and distraught husband Tom. But, what if that was not the end of their story? For as T S Eliot wrote:- "Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past". Enjoy and let me know what you think so far

Inspired by certain recent events in Las Vegas. Tom and Sybil arrive back at Downton, refuse to attend a dinner given by granny, and Sybil takes Tom on a tour of the house while the rest of the family are out - with unexpected results

An engaging piece of whimsy, while I continue with Chapter 13 of Home Is Where The Heart Is. Written for all of you who, like myself, just love the interaction between our favourite ex-chauffeur and the youngest daughter of the house. As you will now find out, the path of true love is sometimes a rocky one.
