Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter.

Thought I'd write a little about myself on this page, as, well.. There really isn't anything.

Bio: Well, first things first I guess, my name's Steve, I'm male (thus rarer than rocking horse crap in the world of FanFics) and I'm currently 23. I'm originally from Bedford, a rather horrid town in England, and have now since moved to Reading, a rather less rubbish town in the South East (though west of London, this always confuses me).

I studied engineering at uni, and now I'm an engineer by trade. Like all British lads in their early twenties (regardless of whether they secretly read Harry Potter romance fan fiction or not), I enjoy beer, football (that's soccer to you Yanks), computer games and cocking about.

Ships: I only ship canon, though long before it was clear what this was going to be I shipped Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny, so I'm feeling rather smug.

Some rational part of my brain starts kicking up a fuss if I see something that I know not to be true from the books. I've compartmentalised my post-DH interview knowledge to be a bit more forgiving, but no matter how hard I try some part of my brain just niggles like a Spider Sense if I see something like Percy/Penelope rather than Percy/Audrey.

I've started to get into Next-Gen stuff recently as it's really let a lot of very good writers go wild with the characters (myself included). I'm a little more open-minded about this lot (though I must confess a preference of Teddy/Victoire). To be honest, I think Ron Weasley sealed his own death warrant on Rose/Scorpius in the Epilogue, however I just can't read it if it's some terrible Draco/Ginny or Draco/Hermione fiction renamed.

Oh yeah, and stop shipping stuff like Teddy/Lily, you weirdos! While I am aware Remus and Tonks had a large age gap, it's a little icky.

Characters:An interesting trend I have found is that most (straight) male members of the Fandom, myself included, are big fans of Ron, and utterly despise Draco. I just want to punch his scrotty little face in for most of the books, and thankfully Ron gets a nice one in at the end of DH for me!

Aside from Ron, I must admit, like Harry, I have a minor thing for Ginny Weasley as a character and I can very much relate to his attraction. I often find people that hate on Ginny most identify themselves with Hermione, but themselves prefer Harry to Ron, and I really hate that she gets picked on as a character so much. Saying that, finding a well written Ginny in FanFic is quite tricky, and the closest I have seen is in the huge, but well worthy of your time: In the Words of Ginevra Molly Potter by thejealousone

Fics:

A little bit about my current and future stories, and what I want to achieve in them. All my stories will be set in the same continuity at the moment, so there is some planned crossover.

Teddy's Story -
A prologue and six chapters written so far, with the seventh in development and one more planned. It's currently also undergoing beta-reading, as I'm becoming increasingly aware that my punctuation and grammar can be quite often terrible.

It's the tale of how Teddy Lupin came to fall in love with Victoire Weasley, told from Teddy's perspective. One of the things I was really aiming for in this story was a coherent representation of blokey-ness. That is the way male characters interact with love interests, each other and to situations. I often find that due to the majority of Fan Fiction being written by female authors, they often lack can't properly identify with a male perspective (I suspect my female characters are also guilty of this, for the same reasons), and the male characters just don't do things men would actually do. I wanted to write it with authentic dialogue, where characters speak as I would speak to my friends, with empty insults and often harsh banter that is the staple of how good friends speak.

I also wanted to attack a few Fan Fiction clichés, and subvert some others. I won't explain these here as they would likely spoil the story, but I had quite a lot of fun writing characters acting as I think they would realistically do in real life, rather than the often rose-tinted world of Fan Fiction. I'm a big fan of making characters do things which aren't necessarily right whilst maintaining that the character is still good.

James Sirius Potter - Undercover Boyfriend
Currently under development, I've got nine chapters planned (so it will be approximately the same length as Teddy's Story), and a few OCs fleshed out. I've done a bit of writing on Chapter 1 to see if I can get into the head of James, and it seems to be going OK so far.

The working in story summary is: 'Both pursued by vengeful exes, James Potter joins forces with his best friend's scary twin sister, pretending to be her boyfriend. However, soon the line between what is truth and what is a lie begins to blur.'

It's my take on the classic 'pretend to be lovers - become lovers story', but with a James Potter twist. A lot of people characterise him closer to the original James Potter, or as a complete an utter reprehensible little git, so I wanted to do a different swing on the character. I've imagined him as more like the Weasley Twins of the original series, a troublesome prankster, wind-up merchant and annoyingly self confident, but with a good heart and someone who sticks up for his friends and family.

Some people really take the James vs Albus stuff to the max, and I wanted to show a far more playful relationship. There are also a lot of clichés surrounding the type of female character who can tame a wild male character, usually one who yells and cries a lot. My Chloe Edwards is more of a dry, snarky and brash kind of girl, who is not afraid of the male banter, will put James in his place when he's being a prat.

Other Projects:

I'm cooking up an as-yet unnamed one-shot featuring a conversation between Rose and Victoire during Rose's first year, about her crush on Teddy Lupin, as alluded to in the chapter, Teddy's Two Week Window (Part 2). It's about friendship and family surviving through jealousy and pre-teenage 'heartbreak'.

Still on the shelf is another one-shot between the OCs from Teddy's Story, Mike and Chloe, as he explains to her that he is a wizard. It was deleted scene from a bloated chapter and will require a little retooling, but I don't want it to live on my hard drive forever.

I also want to do a Rose/Scorpius fic at some point in the future, and I'm likely going to be laying a bit of groundwork for it my James Potter story.

Potter/Weasley Family Tree:

Each and every Next-Gen universe has a different family tree, so here is mine, with prominent OCs mentioned. While it is possible to workout a proper timeline (I believe this places Teddy's birth in 1998), I want the series to be contemporary and don't want to slide off into the future. Teddy is born during DH, so that's the baseline, everything else is worked out from there.

Deathly Hallows:
Teddy Lupin, Mike Williams and Rhoddy Edwards born

DH+2:
Victoire Weasley born

DH+3:
Dominique and Louis Weasley born

DH+7:
James Potter, Freddie Weasley, Gwen and Andy Edwards born

DH+8:
Albus Potter, Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy born

DH+9:
Roxanne Weasley born

DH+10:
Hugo Wealsey, Molly Weasley and Lily Potter born

DH+11:
Lucy Weasley born.

There had always been talk that Teddy's relationship with Victoire went further than 'just friends', something he had always denied and found highly amusing. Returning from a year travelling the world, he realises that those rumours might have been right.
