![]() Author has written 8 stories for Queer as Folk. My favorite book of all time: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I've probably read it a hundred times and each time I do I fall in love with the language and the story all over again. Other favorite books, series and authors: The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien Currently reading: a ton of fanfic - my recently discovered guilty pleasure :) Next on my reading list: The NPR Curious Listener's Guide to Jazz by Loren Schoenberg. My attempt to continue my Jazz education. Few chapters in, so far, so good. Authors I cannot stand: Anne Rice - I swear to God, I've tried reading Interview with the Vampire at least five times, but something about her writing style just bugs the hell out of me. I couldn't get through the first three chapters and gave up each time. I tried reading her other books (not in the vampire series) and same thing happened. Nicholas Sparks - similar thing, his writing style is grating on my nerves, although I was able to finish a couple of his books. The fact that his books follow the exact same formula doesn't help much either. The fact that the author himself is a bit of a self-important *ss with the ego the size of America, makes me dislike him even more. His self-aggrandizing in an interview once actually turned my stomach. I will never buy or read anything by this idiot ever again. Favorite TV Shows: Doctor Who (the recently rebooted version starting with the 10th Doctor), Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica (2003 version), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, Coupling, Vicar of Dibley, Chef, Are You Being Served?, Fawlty Towers, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Glee, QAF (US version), MI-5 and a few others. Newly discovered TV Show: The Wire. Got my hubby all five seasons for Christmas. It was recommended to us by numerous people, but we've never seen it before. We started watching season one late at night on New Years day...five hours later it was 3 am and we watched five episodes in a row without being aware of the time. In other words - it's f*cking brilliant! Can't wait to continue getting into this series. Favorite Reality TV: Top Chef...that's it, because reality TV pretty much sucks. Music I love: alternative, rock, blues, jazz, soundtracks Music I don't love (hate's too strong a word): rap & country What's on my iPod rotation: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan (yes, I just got seriously, seriously into Jazz, thanks to a wonderful fanfic, actually), Adele, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Sia, Keane, Coldplay, OneRepublic, Muse, Snow Patrol, Florence and the Machine, Daft Punk, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Foo Fighters, Matthew Good, Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and a bunch of others. Favorite Quote: "Not all those who wander are lost." J.R.R. Tolkien Favorite Movies: I have too many to name, but I've seen the following too many times to count... A Fish Called Wanda |
