Centrifuge: The Twenty-Fourth Hunger Games - Submissions OPEN Male Submissions: 6 Female Submissions: 10 I have a lot of: older tributes, Career tributes. Overview: Dealing With Devils Verse Worldbuilding Changes: In my canon, there is an ongoing political battle in the Capitol. Snow is currently the Vice President of Panem, and the last President was recently ousted. That means that the current state of affairs in Panem is quite messy, and rebellion is still very much alive. The current head gamemaker of the verse is a former/present criminal responsible for an assassination attempt on half of the former president’s cabinet. This happened around the time of the 20th Hunger Games, so it is still a fresh event. Furthermore, this incident reignited rebellious movements in the Districts. Districts Six and Ten are host to a rebel movement known as “The Underground” - they are lacking for resources and support, but are in fact still existent. Ten’s was stomped out during the year of the Twenty-Second Games by a Peacekeeper infiltration that caused severe damage to some of the less well-off areas of the District. Six’s Underground, on the other hand, is less focused on active political rebellion and more on simply causing a stir throughout the District; it is primarily composed of working-class citizens, especially those from Six’s “lowtown” region. Peacekeepers in both Six and Ten are known for being more extreme than those in other Districts, and tensions with the Capitol are much higher - violence and conflict is very prevalent. Districts Two and Six have an ongoing drug problem. While Six’s concerns are in-line with canon references (morphling usage and addiction) it’s worth noting that the problem is already very significant and Six is known as Panem’s hub for drug trafficking. District Two, on the other hand, has a stimulant problem; substances like cocaine, LSD, PCP and speed ARE still around and they DO exist here. Two’s academies also are known to have issues regarding doping and steroid usage, primarily by trainees trying to get a leg-up on their competition or improve their own likelihood for being chosen as a volunteer. District Seven is currently under peacekeeper watch. After the events of the Twenty-Third games, and a certain rebellious tribute hailing from District Seven who was very outspoken both in her reaping and during the interviews about her anti-Capitol opinions, Seven has been experiencing increased resistance to Capitol presence and a resurgence of anti-government attitudes. This recently led to an attack on Seven’s pro-Capitol mayor. The District has since been put under watch and is seen as a potential risk for active insurgency. This may be the Twenty-Fourth Games, but some aspects of the canon Hunger Games are still nonexistent. Private training sessions have not been implemented - there are currently four days of training, after which tributes head into the interviews. The interviews are highly experimental - last year’s (see Lex Talionis ch. 16 and 17) included a twist in which tributes were presented with their predicted placements in the interview session. Gambling and betting pools surrounding the game are prevalent primarily in the Capitol, but also in Districts One, Two and Four. Additionally, because politicking is SUCH a big part of my verse, rebellious tributes will in fact be targeted by the Capitol. They will be disliked. They will be singled out for their actions. I LOVE rebels so I’m open to accepting them, but keep this in mind if you are planning to submit one to me. On the other hand, pro-Capitol attitudes will be favored by sponsors and audiences. Please keep this in mind when filling out the last part of your form. Submission Guidelines for Centrifuge 1. Submissions are not first come first serve; I tend to be a person that subscribes to the preference of quality over quantity, and I will be selecting tributes based on the 2. I’m setting a maximum of one submission per submitter. I will only be accepting twelve to fourteen (12-14) tributes IN TOTAL so as not to overwhelm myself. 3. POVs that you can choose are for the INTRO section: would you prefer pre-reapings, reapings, train rides, or a capitol arrival POV? Not everyone will have their first 4. Strengths and Weaknesses - Try to focus on personality-based strengths and weaknesses rather than physical attributes or skills. Physical traits may be elaborated upon in the ‘Skills’ section of the form instead. If you've read these guidelines please add the word silvertongue at the top of your form. 5. It goes without saying that the established canon isn’t exactly set in place with this story; that means you can be as creative with your tributes’ backstory as you’d like. I’m 6. Diversity is important! We’ve got a variety of people in the world with differing ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, 7. I’m a pretty shoddy reviewer. So, with that in mind, while I (like every author) am enthused by reviews, the placement of your tribute will not be based on how often you 8. Overall, I tend to think the most important thing for SYOTs is to have fun engaging with the story; we’re submitting original characters to fanfics where the majority of them will ultimately die for pretty much no reason other than because we want to. Don’t try and cater to the author or audience’s taste; create a tribute that you like, and that you will have fun with submitting and reading. Enjoy the creative process and take pride in your ideas!
