One of my biggest dreams is to write my own novel, and that it is currently under way (It is housed on Fiction Press under the same username).

I use fan fiction to practice writing when I have a writer's block on my own stuff. This method keeps my skills (what little I have at least) polished while my own personal work is on hiatus. It keeps creativity going.

I will flip between fandoms whenever a plot strikes my fancy that I think would sound marginally interesting written down, but I have trouble committing to finishing stories, and I know that's lame. It's not really that I lose interest in finishing the story, I just tend to not know how to get characters out of situations I've put them in without sacrificing their core personalities.

Speaking of which, I really hate fan fictions that completely disregard a character's original psychology. I like to try to imitate them as best I can to get the reader to think that this character could be the Real Deal, even if it isn't. It makes the story more enjoyable when their actions and settings are more believable. I mean, can you imagine a Ghost In The Shell fan fiction where the Major is in high school and is trying to be part of a cheer leading squad? No? Then it's probably a sucky story! I don't like injecting my personal dreams into fan fiction characters. It just feels a little self-centered to me.

I want to make a point that not a single fan fiction I have written has been bartered for money or favors - that's not a very honorable thing to do since the characters and universe they are in are not my own. Again, I use fan fiction as a practice.

I am thoroughly addicted to feedback, by the way. I like gentle but honest critiques (I am sensitive). Praise is great but you don't really learn from that. What would help me the most if if someone could say 'Characters AB or C is/isn't really in character here, they'd do DE or F. What I'm getting from this chapter is GH and I and it makes me feel JK and L. I like/don't like it for reasons MN and O.' I know it's a lot, but that also gives me a lot to work with! And I have been known to change/update content to reflect the accuracy of a character.

So that's pretty much it. :) Thanks for reading this! I hope I didn't bore you too much!
