I prefer not to state the usual identifiers like gender, age, nationality, race and the like because none of theses things is who I am. I don't like to be judged and I also feel it unfair to the reader to put something in front of them that would color (consciously or unconsciously) the way they read the story instead of allowing them to evaluate it on its own merit and thus derive personal, emotional and intellectual value from it.
