Author has written 12 stories for Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and House, M.D..

In a nutshell, I’m an over-educated eccentric academic employed in the darkest recesses of higher education.

Inevitably you wonder, “My gosh, oqidaun, with all that academic prestige why the hell are you writing fanfic?” To put it mildly, gentle reader, my academic work involves a lot of pus and dead babies (yes, dead babies!) and it gets a little heavy sometimes. To “relax” I write erudite, darkly humorous and often-confounding fanfic brimming with big words, inane descriptions and bizarre historical connections. I try not to use footnotes, but I’m not above it.

Honestly, I write fanfic because I find it entertaining. You might wonder if my readers also find my fanfic entertaining? Well, I think a few still do. Does my complicated prose and academic pedigree translate into hundreds of reviews and thousands of adoring followers? Hell, no. Let’s try that one more time with feeling: HELL NO. Is that because the world is an unjust place? No, this fanfic. Is it a karmic consequence of my intellectual snobbery or bad driving? No, it’s probably because I’m a thirtysomething PhD writing OC inundated fanfic devoid of the garden variety tropes of time travelling friends, insipid Mary Sues, mind boggling deviations from the established canon, painfully pointless slash or WASPy characters that appear to have been plucked right out of a suburban Kroger on a Tuesday afternoon. Sadly, because many readers are looking for one of those tropes they choose to avoid stories where they are absent. Furthermore, I do not write romance or fluffy feel good stories, which knocks out another 75% of potential readers. What can I say, I’m a realist and I know that often the readers attracted to the kind of stories I write tend to also write that variety of fanfic and it's a small pool.

Concerning reviews: I have never been so bold to assume that anyone would read or like any of my stories, so each review I receive is like a glass of water delivered by a kindly soul to a doomed individual left in the desert to die. Therefore, I’d like to humbly beseech all readers of multichapter fics (not just mine) to pop in and let the author know you’re still there. It gets kind of lonely sometimes. Also, if you deign to review something current of mine I’ll return the favor if you write in one of the fandoms I follow.
