Greetings my fellow Writers and Readers, or FanFictioneers and FanFictioners.

I am Lotus Curtiss.

I stumbled upon FanFiction when my good buddy and friend, everynerdynerd, posted a Tales of the Abyss short after I introduced her to the anime/game with my penname on the Gaia online site. Since then, I have been hooked. I was able to read some really awesome shorts, drabbles, trilogies, saga's and the dubious novels of my favorite anime/manga and videogames.

From since I have joined, I have added onto the repertoire of the growing stories with my fellow FanFictioneers. - I will no longer use the word "soon" as I am a procrastinator, so I will post once I am finished, "soon" does not fit into my writing availability when it comes to time. I would rather let you know that I am working on it at the moment than putting a time stamp to myself about it.

I am extremely grateful to my fans, they have supported me as I continue to post and share my stories as I struggle with life issues of work, family and technology (pfft.) - The technology part is true. -

Then scroll down and you will see all of my secrets though in reality, they are my biggest pet peeves when it comes to writing, I have decided to share them with you so it can inspire you to improve your writing game. As time goes on, I will end up adding more pet peeves as I remember them, so keep an eye out, the next pet peeve secret might appear when you least expect it.

True Endless Love

Lotus is Colonel Jade Curtiss's Head Commanding Major for the Third Division Imperial Forces. Can their love for eachother keep them from seperating as they remember painful past's?

I will divulge my writing secrets here so please feel free to use them.

I love to write and I will not keep that a secret, so I will share my little dubious headaches and resolves in my writing and what makes it awesome.

Pet Peeves 1 - Spelling: It kills me that when I read, there are a lot of spelling mistakes, I know that with todays auto spell in word processors and IE and Chrome, it is a lost easier to correct the spelling, there are also online dictionaries that makes it easier to check the spelling of a word or how it sounds. While attending school growing up, I used real dictionaries, it was a pain to look up but the book it self was my only access to spelling a word properly and what the definition is.

Pet Peeves 2 - Grammar: It is all how its worded in the sentence. I die over a sentence when its not clear, I have a headache growing by then. So I will constantly go back over, even writing it out by hand to get the wording correct. Of its not correct. I scrap and try again. I end up bowing out of stories halfway through though they are well written despite the story line being awesome. Those dummy books and how to novels can save your future dream career. -Right now, I know my grammar stinks but I am improving by reading books, reading books can help you build sentence structure!-

Pet Peeves 3 - Punctuation: Grrr... I love to read but when I stumble upon a story that has barely or no punctuation at all, I back out. Punctuation is important to an inspiring writer. It breaks up paragraphs and keeps sentences from feeling like its a blended line or run-ons. Punctuation also tells a person when a sentence has ended or that they are reading a thought or speech. I even assist my younger sister in punctuation. Though I know that there a few thousand stories published with out punctuation, keep in mind it makes a difference to those inspiring to be a writer.

Pet Peeves 4 - Repeated Words: It drives me insane when I am constantly using the same word. I do not want to sound repetitive. So I turn to a thesaurus, my best friend, and like I used a dictionary book, I used a paperback thesaurus. It is a great way to overcome repeated words on a page or if the same phrase is being used just paragraphs apart but it is another way to look up the synonyms and antonyms cause if you know the word opposite of its counterpart but not the counterpart itself, you can easily locate it. When I write, I have an online thesaurus open every time I start. If you are writing but have barely little to no internet access, plop a few down on a paperback thesaurus to avoid those repeated words.

Pet Peeves 5 - Description: I love, love description, the more there is the better but be forewarned, too much and the reader can get confused and too little and its too vague. When it comes to Description, keep it minimal but you can embellish or bland minimal, its like you can't decide to either dress up or dress down, find a happy medium and add or remove what you want. But try to avoid the lukewarm middle of a medium at all times because the storyline can get stale. This is when your dictionary and thesaurus comes into play and can be a life saver! If you decide to play it vague, it's the best way to leave little hints to the reader to guess what in future might be but if you play by embellishment, don't go too overboard because you can lose your readers attention and they become confused.

Per Peeves 6 - It's or Its: I literally die over this deadly duo. I have to decide if it's possessive "its" or if it is singular "it's." I read through to catch this or if I am writing and notice it on the previous line. Now "its" and "it's" is a conjunction of the words "it" and "is," and/or "it" and "has," depending on how it is punctuated can determine to possessive and singular properties'. The possessive form "its" has no apostrophe and it can be used to describe relation, i.e. The cat hurt its paw or the dessert hides its secrets under the sand. The singular form "it's" has no apostrophe and it can be used to describe a single item or article, i.e. It's my book or It's their movie. But the Possessive and Singular forms has been known to be used in place of the other. And you will often see my writing using "its" in "Its mine to love," as if I want to show the childish greed of the character. And "it's" in "It's mine to love," as if I want to show the article description of the word "love" of my character. These and other words that have the possessive and singular forms exits and do your research into the difference of them, it can save you from grammar embarrassment.

Pet Peeves 7 - Proof Reading: Any inspiring writer and well written author knows that Proof Reading is Key! It can help you catch that missing word that you forgot to add or had meant to add ten paragraphs back or that missing semicolon to break up a sentence to avoid a run-on express train tragedy! I will go back through my writing and read, and read, and reread till I notice my common mistakes by correcting them. You can keep track of your common mistakes by writing them down, if you have an issue with repetitive words and missing punctuation, make a note of that and post it where you can see it, preferably on a sticky note or in the corner of your paper. It will serve as a reminder to let you know what to look out for so that instead catching the mistake on 50th read and realized it was missed instead of catching it on the third or fourth Proof Read. I do not know how many stories I stepped into to read and get about halfway through then back out because of sledge hammer headache because the writers failed to Proof Read and correct as they should. Even if it was whipped up in a millisecond, take a fraction of that millisecond and Proof Read. Always find a good stopping point in your writing and proof read. Typically when you reach paragraphs 3-4 (two pages at best) is a good time to read what you currently wrote so that you are spending less time correcting the whole thing once its done and still miss several of your common mistakes.

Pet Peeves 8 - Saving: How do you save your work? If you are all about the paper and ink, awesome but keep it up someplace high and away from any sources of liquid and fire though it is a fire hazard itself. Just keep your hours of hand cramping work away from the disastrous destruction. If you are using your computer, keep several storage devices on hand as back ups! I had one USB drive become damaged that I lost a lot of original work and painstaking hours of headaches to write. I did have additional storage devices but they weren't backed up because I had slacked in my updates. But do not save it to several USB drives but to micro SD cards as well, yes, like the ones in your phones and tablets! Have a bunch of the cheap pieces of plastics stashed away in nooks and crannies, like as a book marker or in a game case. Just stash them. Then maybe every two weeks or so, update your spare/backup USB drives and micro SD cards. While we are on the subject of Saving, if you are using a word processor or document type of your choice, you may notice it doing a temporary save every minute or so, stop! Save every two to five minutes, even if you haven't written anything, save it. It is better to be safe than sorry. You may never know if your computer crashes.

Pet Peeves 9 - Glossary: I have read a book or book series where there was a provided glossary in the back, so if I ran across a different name for a month or season, I could thumb to the back and correlate to it. A Glossary can be a life saver as you are writing. As you add a new word or take an existing word and reassign its original meaning to another meaning, write it down. You can use a Glossary to list your characters as well. Constantly update your glossary as you write, cause you will in the end, consult with it through out your writing so as to not to replace the meaning of a title, city, geo-locations or character spellings. This is your own little dictionary to refer too. This makes a difference. When you start the writing process, you will end up starting the glossary before even putting the first word down for that beginning sentence, everything from your characters roles, names, personalities to clan/guild types and even to the plot itself. Set several pages aside or is using a word processor, list it at the top to work on and grow your Glossary. I promise, this can save you from getting confused and lost, guaranteed.

Pet Peeves 10 - Story Plot: As you know from all of the anime you have seen and all the manga you have read and all the videogames you have played, there is the main plot and the branching with dead end plots. A few examples such as Naruto, Bleach, and Ao no Exorcist. *Pfft* yeah, there all over the place, zigging and zagging but you can always see that still plotted path because the character(s) mentions it here or there and sometimes on an extremely heavy scale. With out or with out words but actions instead. Some plots could also be done with out a few unneeded arch's but they do have been set in stone for the growth of the current side characters, that could other wise leave you blinking in the next arch and wondering how they got to that point. Story Plotting is key. Work it out on paper so you can arrange and rearrange the story line as needed for a better flow, or to nix an idea that does not fit in or add an idea that does. I start my plotting first by the characters I am going to use, what atmosphere I will be putting them in and the events that take place to provide a solid line and a few random chapters to give a break from the current story. Often time's I know how I will start my stories and other stories I know my pinnacle but not my starting, it isn't usually until I sit down and put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard then does my start flow out and connect just awesomely. Your Glossary can offer insight to your Story Line as it is a part of your Story Plot.
