![]() Author has written 12 stories for Jennifer's Body, Chloe, Red Riding Hood, 2011, Sucker Punch, and Price of Salt. Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us, and at the same time sings that we'll never die? Who teaches us what's real, and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live, and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us, and who holds the key that can set us free? It's you. You have all the weapons you need. Now fight! O.K. So I'm male, but when I was in college, my sociology prof gave the class a gender rating test that measured the stereotypical male and female attitudes; and I scored a perfect androgynous. I guess that makes me a neuter! I like to write but I'm not prolific. After seeing Jennifer's Body, I've become obsessed with Jennifer/Needy -- they've touched the teenaged lesbian in me. If I had been smarter and pious, I would have been a Jesuit. I've been thinking about writing a JB poem, but my poetic skills aren't what they should be... I might still try it; in the meantime, here's a little poem by Leigh Hunt, the friend of Shelley, Byron, and Keats: "Jenny Kiss'd Me" Jenny kiss'd me when we met, / Jumping from the chair she sat in; / Time, you thief, who love to get / Sweets into your list, put that in! / Say I'm weary, say I'm sad, / Say that health and wealth have miss'd me, / Say I'm growing old, but add, / Jenny kiss'd me. Here's a couple of quotes from my favorite author: "Truly, the joy of being together fades quickly; the grief of parting is deep. It's not too much to say that we generally live in the sentiment of parting." --Osamu Dazai. "The discovery that you cannot trust people is the first lesson young people learn as they grow up into adults. Adults are adolescents who have been betrayed." --Osamu Dazai, Return to Tsugaru. (Thought about this the other day when I saw an interview with Amanda Seyfried, who said Jennifer's Body was not really a horror story, but a dark coming-of-age film.) At one time, my goal was to emulate Dazai. Here's a few quotes from my favorite musicians: "Come out of the question and be." --Sinead Lohan, "Out of the Woods," No Mermaid. "Though you cannot be blamed, I've become inflamed with thoughts of lust and thoughts of power, thoughts of love and the thoughts of Chairman Mao." --Billy Bragg, "The Warmest Room," Talking with the Taxman about Poetry. "I want to believe in You -- not corrupt institutions / You're a feeling inside -- not rules or regulations / You gave us sexuality -- desire is no sin / You gave out common sense -- but not in a catechism." --In Tua Nua, "The Innocent and the Honest Ones," The Long Acre. I'm officially fixated on the music from Chloe, directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Amanda "Needy" Seyfried. I listen to it all the time.
