All of my BtVS fic says it was published in 2009. That’s because that was the year my archive shut down, and I moved all of my stories here so they wouldn’t perish. (Well, not all of my stories. I let my Harry Potter fic perish because it wasn’t worth saving.)

I wrote my first fanfic, “Enter the Fray,” over Christmas break in 1999. I was an avid Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan and read a spoiler that indicated a Willow/Spike pairing. The spoiler never came to pass, but I just couldn’t let the notion of those two go. I'd been reading fan fiction for a couple of years and decided to try my hand at it. Literally: I wrote the thing by hand on notebook paper.

And once I started getting feedback? (That’s what we called it in those days – “feedback.”) It fueled the fire, and I wrote fics for at least five years.

... until the well dried up. Willow turned out to be gay, BtVS went off the air, these things happen.

I tried my hand at another fandom (HP provided another redhead/platinum head; I just never felt it, y’know?) but eventually gave up my fic days as over.

Then a lot of years (and much life) passed and I found myself with two characters constantly rattling around my head again. This time it was a couple of brunettes.

Guys, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but fiction writing is hard.
