Author has written 4 stories for Janet Evanovich. I'm a publications designer/writer/journalist/editor/project manager. My family life is full and crazy and stressful and demanding, and there are days when I fantasise about running away to become a beach bum on a deserted tropical island - with a laptop and my beloved kindle. Then I wake up and smell the coffee. I love words and have always been an avid reader. I'll read and enjoy just about anything, from the classics to Kinky Friedman. I discovered the Plumverse years ago during a particularly dark and bothersome period of my life and the books made me laugh. I confess that I haven't much liked the books after Twelve Sharp and, as far as I'm concerned, the series ended there and I haven't even read 16 onward. In addition to the day-to-day writing I do for work, I'm working my first novel (yeah, isn't everyone? LOL) and stumbled into writer's block, which is likely to last almost forever as things are going. I turned to writing some Stephanie stories as a way of practicing the craft and keeping myself cheerful until my head clears enough to go back to the novel. EDIT April 2011 Did you know that FF has Forums? I'm not sure how a forum is used or who uses it but I'm always up for something new so I started one: Plum Talking: http://www.fanfiction.ws/myforums/SuperSekritID/1933014/ I've specified it is to be used for discussion on writing, plotting and character development, but there's nothing there yet. I'm going to explore its usefulness but I can only do that with the help of other writers and readers. Would you like to join me in my little experiment? EDIT January 2012 There have been a few changes in my life. I resigned from my job of 20 years and went back to study for a while to update my qualifications, and am now freelancing. This means my time is tighter, as I'm ghost-writing a memoir and taking on literary editing jobs as they come, which leaves me little time for my own writing. However! I have absolutely NOT given up on completing The Usual Mayhem. I'm still receiving many more reviews than my sluggardly ways deserve, and I'm feeling a huge weight of guilt for leaving so many readers hanging ... and hanging... I will finish the story! I had the whole story mapped out before I posted a single chapter, and the path really hasn't deviated much since. I know where it's heading; I know what happens next; I've got the outline very clear in my head. My problem is two-fold: little time and an odd kind of writer's block that results in very bad writing. I've written the next episode many times only to feel so disgusted by how it reads that I shut down and leave it for a while. I've not given it up though. The final 6-7 chapters will be written, and posted, and I've decided that I'll finish the whole thing before I post anything so no one is left hanging again. With grovelling apologies, Sesi. |
