![]() Author has written 3 stories for Resident Evil, and Taxi. I'm an art lead in the video game industry. I treasure my precious anonymity so I won't mention the games I've worked on. Some I'm proud of, some not so much :) My work can be found on the S-NES, Genesis, Playstation 2, PC, XBox1, Playstation 3 and XBox 360. My goal is to work on a game that's a big enough hit to inspire its own fan fiction. Resident Evil 5 got me re-obsessed with Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield (in that order.) I couldn't believe what they did to Jill, that they would do something so horrible and grotesque to a beloved character. I was reminded of Han Solo being encased in Carbonite, or Captain Picard getting himself all Borged up. Hardcore! (And I was fine with the blond hair, I thought it was appropriate to the story, although I hope it's not permanent ;) I sure hope the official Jill and Chris story isn't over - I'm hoping Capcom finds a way to tell more of their story(a Code Veronica type side story that isn't an official numbered sequel, perhaps?) Also, man, wouldn't you love to see RE1, 2 and / or 3 re-done using the RE4 / 5 style gameplay in the RE5 engine? Using all the same actors that are playing the main roles now. How hot would that be? I'm about to tell you how hot. EXTRA hot. I think the overall interest in Jill and Chris as characters is fascinating. I think they have been consistently portrayed in all the official Capcom RE games, but they are not terribly well-developed characters. I don't mean that as a criticism, though; I'd say Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield have a character depth that is comparable to, say, the lead characters of the original Star Wars trilogy, or the Matrix trilogy, or Indiana Jones. These are characters that are straightforward and direct, with very clear motivations and obvious admirable qualities, and as a result, we the audience find them easy to identify with. My story "No Cage Worse" wraps up with a post-RE5 Jill and Chris team-up to take down a new threat; the whole sequence represents the kind of thing I'd love to see in a single-player / co-op DLC epilogue to RE5, starring Chris and Jill. Capcom, make it happen! Do it! I'm quite grateful to have gotten some very positive and enthusiastic feedback for my first story on this site, "Resident Evil: No Cage Worse." I've started work on a follow up: "Resident Evil: Ultra Somnium Dreamer", in which our intrepid hero and heroine (Chris n Jill) must battle a threat older than time in order to save Washington DC, and perhaps the world, from complete annihilation, while finding their loyalty and friendship tested in a way they never expected. Thanks for stopping by, and drop me a line (or a review) if you're so inclined. |
