Hi, I'm Melissa, although I prefer to be called Mel. I am a passionate writer and hope to one day publish a book - you know as soon as I finish it, I have an idea I am finally sticking to, but in the past, I never seemed to find quite the right story to tell. I love music, but I don't enjoy a single genre, I am all over the place, so I am not peggable, so don't even try! I love to read, play piano, enjoy photography and designing websites (a former fansite addict). I am a huge Grey's Anatomy fan (MerDer all the way! McDreamy will never be dead to me! Still love Ellen Pompeo regardless!), although only up to season 11 as I strongly believe the show departed from its incredible ensemble cast, creative storytelling, after the season 9 plane crash, since then due to the loss of some of the original characters, they were never able to creatively recover from, what's left of the show is recycled, redundant and OOC storytelling which is slowly destroying not only what's left of the characters, but the show itself. So in my mind, Grey's ended in Season 10 with Bailey's birth and it only lives on in fanfiction. However, despite not watching the show anymore, and still standing by my words that Derek's death was written appallingly, I also understand why it all happened and can respect that TV is constrained by so many different elements that it is not always possible to give us what we want, and this is why I have always preferred books, as books are only limited to the imagination of the author. This is why if Grey's were a book, Derek would not be dead, because despite Shonda's nature, not even she wanted that and her idealized version of Grey's and like Meredith herself, given half the choice, they would both choose him to be alive. This is how I find peace with it all.

I am a very open-minded person and while I have my own opinions I can deeply appreciate the opinions of others and can see the various differing angles to opinions, problems and scenario's (just like with Grey's Anatomy).

Currently, I am studying a Bachelor of Psychological Science and will be a qualified Counsellor by October 2017. I hope to one day further this and become a Psychologist but either way, I have a strong passion for helping children as it breaks my heart seeing an adult struggling with mental illness since they were a child because the people who should have stood up for them as a child, didn't. Every child has the right to be safe, loved and protected and when their parents and guardians aren't doing that I want to be part of the fight to advocate for them. So, I hope to one day work for the Department of Child Safety and do just that.

Currently Writing/WIP:

Laid Bare (Working title) [Grey's Anatomy, Main Pairings: Addison Montgomery and Derek Shepherd (married part 1 and 2), Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd (friendship part 1 and as a couple part 2 onwards)] - Will have a sequel and potentially a third follow-up.
A story I have wanted to write for a very long time as I saw huge parallels between a patient and Meredith and found myself wondering 'what if?'. The story is a canon-style but a 'what if' scenario and is set in season one, whereby Meredith takes the place of one of the patients that were introduced. So by 'canon-style', she is an intern and how she's a patient? Well, that is something I am keeping under tight wraps but here's what I will divulge. In the first part, there is no romantic relationship between Meredith and Derek. It's a slow burn, friendship forms that does teeter on the edge of something more, but it takes them time to realize they have feelings for one another, and this is just because of the circumstances surrounding the premise of the story. Hard to understand why I am doing it like this because you don't know the plot, but once you all read it my hope is you will all see why I am doing it this way and hopefully the beauty in it. They have less of a romantic relationship but a little more than a friendship and that component I hope will just draw people in for the ride. However, rest assured, part two will see Meredith and Derek together as a couple.

Another what if scenario - what if Meredith were a few years younger than Derek, Mark, and Addison? Set prior to season one. Derek has just walked in on Addison and Mark, uncovering their adulterous affair, but instead of fleeing to Seattle, the Chief of Surgery at Mount Sinai made him a better offer than Richard and he leaves his cushy private practice life and becomes Head of Neurosurgery at Sinai instead. On his first day at Sinai, he meets Meredith Grey who has just been hired as the new Head of General Surgery after being poached from Mass Gen. She's talented, bossy, ballsy, mysterious, has a sense of adventure and most importantly she will turn Derek's life upside down. So what does this all mean? Will Derek buy into 'it was just a mistake' and give his marriage another go or will some home truths from Meredith make him see his marriage for what it was and what had been in front of his face the whole time? You will all have to wait and see.
