You may be wondering why I changed my penname. I'm named after Tess from Tess of the d'Urbervilles. She died. I also love Anna from Anna Karenina and Fantine from Les Miserables. They both died, too. Sometimes I have these really Catherine Morland-esque fantasies that I'm a heroine in some tragic novel.
