Guide to the Doomsday Dimensions Series Universe A guide to the people, places and things found in this universe. Some story spoilers.

Author's Notes on Prometheus:

Fans of the Eighth Doctor know that he is notorious for kissing his companion not once, not twice, but three times on screen. But so far, in this series, the Doctor hasn't seen any of that kind of action in the slightest. Purely in the interest of keeping him in character, that's going to change...

Author's Notes on Restaurant at the End of the Multiverse:

This is, of course, intended as homage to the late, lamented Douglas Adams, who wrote some cracking good Doctor Who scripts including Shada and The Pirate Planet (which is referenced in the fic). Shada was never aired, although you can watch it as a BBCi animated webcast (with the Eighth Doctor!). If you've never seen Shada, give it a go, you'll love it: Shada

Although this story is most definitely science fiction, quite a few of the concepts derive from modern cosmology. Dark energy really does exist, and it's thought to be the driving force behind the universe's accelerating expansion. I think it's fun to use real science in science fiction--principally because what's really out there is in many ways far weirder than anything you could imagine.

The plot is convoluted, I'll admit, but I've tried to make it as clear as possible. Keep your eye on Rose's letter as it gets passed around. I've tried to incorporate a lot of foreshadowing, so the climax shouldn't be totally out of left field. It helps to know a little bit about classic series Doctor Who, but it isn't necessary.

Author's Notes on Doomsday Dimensions:

This story is set an unspecified period of time after the very end of Doomsday. Close enough that Rose still misses Tennant!Doctor but long enough that he's beginning to become a memory. The Doctor she encounters is indeed the Eighth doctor, as many have surmised, from the parallel universe ("Alt.Eighth").

He's probably the least-known and least well characterised of the Doctors, having appeared on-screen in only one TV movie. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about him:

"The Eighth Doctor, a Byronesque figure who is arguably the most human and romantic of all of his incarnations, encouraged those around him to seize life instead of withdrawing from it."
