Howdy.

So I haven't worked on Chapter 16 at all for the past year...

...I'M KIDDING.

It's progressing pretty slowly, as I have other things I've been working on, but I am still chipping away at it. If you would like to whet your appetite for Metroid Ed material, I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with the Chozo by repeating "the Chozo Ghosts are real and they're coming to get me" five times in the mirror at midnight.

Also, I must warn you that, if you haven't played it yet, you are not allowed to play Metroid Prime until I'm done with this story, because spoilers. You've been warned.

Chapter 16 is like a houseplant. Every day, I give it the tender care it needs to survive.

It's turned out to be so long that I'm tempted to split it in two, but I can't bring myself to add more chapters to this story. You're going to get 26 long-ass chapters and you're going to like it.

It'd be nice if I could wrap it up by the end of the year, but it looks like it'll be another busy month for me IRL. I will continue to chip away at it.

Because, to be honest, I just want to get to Metroid Prime 2: [SUBTITLE REDACTED] already.

I would like to be straight with you guys regarding any expectations you might have for Chapter 15. This might sound a little egotistic, but I think I should probably spell it out anyway.

I'm nearly done with it. I hope to have it out within the next week. If I didn't feel like doing other things at the moment, I could in fact have it out tonight. That's how close I am. However, I want to be clear that I have not spent the past eight years working on this single chapter. It's not going to be a chapter that reads like something that took years to create. It is a transition chapter, based on what are honestly trivial and not-really-important moments in the original Metroid Prime, though the events in this chapter are important. The chapter itself is actually pretty short; narratively, we are in a place where we can safely cut out a lot of A-to-B traveling. I would ask that you please keep your expectations in check accordingly.

I have not actually played Metroid Prime or watched an episode of Ed, Edd n Eddy in years, and I have not been active in the EEnE fandom in ten years. However, I feel as though much of the source material is ingrained into my mind well enough that it shouldn't be a problem anyway. I still have my original draft of the story from thirteen years ago to reference, anyway.

My hope is that getting this chapter out will be the beginning of a renewed stream of chapter releases. That would be nice.

In the meantime, BACK TO THE GRIND.

Metroid Prime 4 announcement is so good, though.

In case anyone was curious, I really cannot see a continuation of the Metroid Ed series beyond the planned trilogy. Will definitely enjoy the game, of course!

Anyway. That chapter I've been on-and-off working on for seven years is mostly done. Thought I'd keep people apprised.

Bio

Pay no attention to the people who swear they write until they actually update their story. Everything else is an excuse for procrastination.

First written in '05 and rebooted in '07, the Metroid Ed Trilogy has claimed more of my written words than any other project. Which is damn sad. I update in starts and fits, and new chapters can appear anywhere from two weeks to eight years after the previous one. In short: I take my time. This project blends the marvelous characters of Ed, Edd n Eddy with the setting, central conflicts, and atmospheres of Retro Studios' Metroid Prime Trilogy. Weird idea, for sure.

But check it out. There is a reason I've devoted thirteen years of my life to this godforsaken project. Most of which is nostalgia for the time in my life I was writing it.

Metroid Prime: The Ed Hunters is story numero uno. It's pretty rad. Primes 2 and 3 will follow suit. I have cool subtitles for those stories, too. I'd totally drop them for you guys right here if Prime 2's didn't spoil everything and I do mean everything (although I will confirm that it is decidedly not Ed-choes, you clowns). It's a trilogy which aims to blend the best of both worlds into this smoothie that gives you this monster headache if you drink it too fast. And as with smoothies, it's all about patience.
