Author has written 8 stories for Merlin. Hi Everyone, Just a little bit about my style of writing and the type of stories I write. (1) I like writing suspense, a little drama, and adventure. I like twisting and turning a plotline, so you'll be seeing plenty of it, but in realistic ways too. I do like developing a character where you can see strengths and flaws in them. (2) My main goal coming out of my stories is to develop Arthur as King and Merlin as a magical and respect leader in his own right. If Arthur is going to be a good king, he's going to have to interact lots more with his 'enemy' and fully understand who they are, so you'll be seeing Arthur interact with them lots, and realize some enemies are not really the enemy he's learned as a child. I think it's important to realize that in real life, nothing is black and white. There is not a 'good' side nor a 'bad' side. Look at politics and wars. A persons enemy will never think they are the evil one. I like to show that the 'enemies' have a story of their own, that they may not intend on bad, that they may be misunderstood, that they may just be reacting out of feeling hurt. I like to show that real leaders, such as who Arthur will potentially have to be, will have to learn about his enemy in another light. (3) Another thing you may notice out of my stories is dialogue, and lots of it. I usually like having characters respond in ways that seem realistic, from rolling their eyes, to questioning logic, to doubting plans, to feeing nervous, to feeling vulnerable. So all of this does take up a lot of space, therefore my stories turn out pretty long, and potentially moving along slow. I just like to make sure all the loose ends are tied and there is no illogical plan/plot moving forward without a character talking about it. And I try to not have neat and easy solutions that work 100% perfectly... there's got to be some struggle and unexpected results to keep the story interesting, right? (4) Before I write a story, I have a fairly specific outline finished in my mind, with most of the major milestones identified and thought out. Over time, I add a couple milestones and further develop it... So sometimes I do a little foreshadowing, or introduce a character that will be important later in the stories. So look out for dreams and new characters in general, because they hint a lot on what's to come. Also, a lot of the times, I intend on writing a major occurance in a chapter, but before I know it, I've already reached 2000 words for the chapter, so I have to cut it off there. Sorry about that! (5) I get in the zone of writing while listening to Batman Begins by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Really, if you want to get into the zone whille reading my stories, listen to it. The music is super epic. (6) A lot of the new characters I introduce to play major roles are typically Arthurian legend characters. You may or may not recognize them but let me tell you about a few - Dagonet - Dagonet is Arthurs future jester and knight in the round table. He's said to be a coward in reality but act like he's a hero. Enygues - she's a grandma of Percival. Yeah, I kind of made her magical in the story... hehe. Ector - Ector is a knight in the round table and father of Kay. Kay - Kay is also part of the round table, he's kind of a bully too. Bedivere - Bedivere is a knight part of the round table, and is a Marshall. He's a guy who is by Arthur at his side when Arthur dies.. :(. There are 5 stories that are all connected. The first part out of the five is called: I. Morgana's Return - This is when Morgana comes back to Camelot after feeling betrayed by Merlin, and tries to get Merlin killed. But does she succeed? The 2nd part out of the five is called II. Plea to Emry's- This is where Merlin starts to step into enemy territory and learns more about the history of Camelot before Arthur was born from an enemy. He eventually becomes friends with the enemy, Alvarr. Both maintain their loyalty to their original sides. But what are the consequences of their friendship? The 3rd part is called III. The Purge Continues - This is where Uther commences the Purge again - trying to find Emrys. But Uther thinks Emrys is someone else. Someone will have to make a sacrifice.. The 4th is... IV The Battle for the list from the Great Purge - You will see lots of loyalties being formed, and potentially disloyalties mwah aha.. I'll let you speculate about that one. Arthur's future knights of the round table will cross paths with Arthur, Merlin will have magical followers, and Morgana will have her very own set of loyal followers build. There is going to be some crazy things happening *Excited* The 5th and FINAL (hopefully) is... V. Breach in Fate - This story is essentially about 'Dark Merlin'. As a result of Arthur banishing Merlin from Camelot for using magic, Merlin realizes he may not have the fate the dragon once spoke about. He is commited in his new role as 'Dark Merlin', doing unimaginable things and causing a plentitude of problems for Arthur. Can Merlin come to his senses or is he lost forever? |
