All right. So I'm just this random guy, who finds himself committing random acts of Firefly fan-fiction. At least it keeps me off the street and - mostly - out of trouble.

These short pieces are sort of exercises while I work on a much longer piece, grabbing a chance to write here and there when I'm not distracted by home-schooling my two teenage daughters. (Update: The elder graduated Jan. '08. Yay! So the younger has my full, undivided attention. Poor thing. I'm actually requiring that she write a novel for English this year.) They also enjoy Firefly, and I've been running the Serenity role-playing game for them, their godfather, and their godbrothers. (Also home-schoolers, which is why we can spend a whole week-day pursuing education by exercising our imaginative powers. What percentage of your booty are you going to have to spend on ship maintenance, hmm? How many cubic feet do you have available for cargo? If you buy that sniper rifle, will you have enough credits left over to buy food? Would you describe Mal as Federalist or Anti-Federalist?)

Only problem with my kids liking Firefly is they read my stuff on , which means I have to leave out all (or most of) the racy bits... (But it's possible you could find something - still of a Firefly bent - on my LiveJournal ( http:/// ) if you're interested in that sort of thing yourself.)

To those of you who've reviewed my stuff and let me know you think I'm doing all right with the characters' voices, especially Wash's, thank you very much. The longer piece I'm working on is a novel told from Wash's POV, so it's reassuring to hear that I'm doing all right with his internal and external voice.
