Personal Bio:

Well hello there! Thanks for checking out my bio and trying to check out some of my work!

There isn't too much you need to know about me personally, but I'll give you a bit of my background.

I'm an Engineer. Currently working in graduate school. As a result my update schedule is wonky on a good day, and downright atrocious for most of the year. I make no promises in keeping up my updates, but I do want to make it clear that I will never abandon any work I begin. As a result you may notice that many of my works are sorts of "One Shots" rather than extended story lines. This is so I can satisfy that itch to write to my heart's content without being held constantly to many different story commitments.

I keep several hobbies as well! Mostly revolving around Video Games, Flying Planes, Racing cars and visiting a gun range every now and then. My engineering career satiates my tinkering and design desires, but you'll see clear evidence of that engineering mind in my writing and even the franchises I like. All in all, life is a pretty busy for me between work, friends and hobbies, so don't be surprised if I take months to fully write up a story.

Writing Style:

With a few exceptions, I tend to stick as much as I can to writing in third person with an emphasis on detail and immersing my reader into the world I'm writing about. Make no mistake I am working on two books which are my own creations. As a matter of fact the second book is really the beginning of a series of books I plan to write into a franchise.

You may be asking yourself, "Why does an engineer enjoy writing?"

Excellent question, well the short answer is: "Because its cool." The long answer has to do with just my passion for the worlds I immerse myself into. This is why I feel a rich desire to contribute and expand upon the worlds I read about or watch. Sometimes even books or light novels don't give me enough of the characters and action I want. Hence why I'm here writing about the worlds I enjoy and why I'm actively writing my own stories. My imagination needs a place to roam free. Writing and language are the perfect place for that.

But don't think my engineering life won't be present in what I write. I prefer a very grounded feel to the worlds I write about. Gritty realism, and seldom hand-wavy things to move the plot. But don't think for a second that I don't indulge in romances or other areas of writing that involve emotion. I just need it to feel real, even if the world isn't real.

Franchises I will write about:

Bionicle -
Possibly the first franchise I ever fell in love with. I was a young kid when I got into Bionicle. It was exhilarating to read about and play with these Lego Sets. Bio-Mechanical robots that wield the Elements? YES PLEASE! Sign me up! I didn't quite like the direction the franchise took towards the end of its life but it was understandable. Lego has always preferred to focus on the toys than the Story. I mean its natural, they are a toy company. But for me it was the stories on the island of Mata Nui and Metru Nui that really enthralled me. I wanted to explore these worlds through various eras from the points of views that weren't necessarily the main heroes. You'll see me post various One Shots on Bionicle here. I want to explore that gritty, very realistic nature of the Bionicle. The way they just wield their blades and how their own mechanical bodies soar through the are controlling the elements.

Sword Art Online -
Oh boy. Where to begin. I don't watch anime. Not really. But this one anime has really taken me for a ride. I love the romance between Asuna and Kirito. I've only watched the first season so far (YES I KNOW IT CAME OUT FOREVER AGO) but I've already bought the light novels for the first season and I plan to read all the stories associated with this franchise as well as the shows. People may hate this series. Probably with good reasons. I'll admit it felt underdeveloped at times. BUT that does give me the opportunity to expand upon the franchise in many ways.

I have to make it clear, that the romance between Asuna and Kirito is really a major thing that brought me into the series. Nevermind the premise, which I think is pretty cool, but it was the romance which seemed far less cliché than many other romances I've seen. It was honestly a healthy relationship. Really. And I loved every moment of that. The support each gave the other was incredible.

Overall expect a lot of stuff from me here. However it terms of romance I'll be exploring the relationship that Kirito had with Silica and Lisbeth. I like to alter the canon and universe slightly to allow for those relationships to have blossomed out rather than the Asuna/Kirito relationship. Kiritio and Asuna were fleshed out in detail by many people and I have to admit, there's little I could expand on. So I'll go in a different direction. Also the only franchise you may see first person. Mostly because of how personal the relationships are and how well the light novels are written for them to be first person books.

Star Wars -
OH GOD WHY DISNEY!

Alright so hold on. Before you get all flustered. I enjoyed Rogue one a lot. LIKE A LOT. But I have to admit that I just don't feel engaged with the current crop of films. They seem written for children or as a quick light hearted take on the series. Nothing inherently wrong with that. But I would have preferred the franchise to go darker and darker, in the direction that Rogue One went for sure. My main focus here will be writing dark war stories. Focusing on the Clone Wars primarily but also some Galactic Civil War stuff.

I will never touch anything after the immediate aftermath of Return of the Jedi. Its just not something I'm interested in. For me only the first six films and some limited things from the animated Clone Wars series are canon. Frankly the 2003 animated series feels far grittier and in my mind, canon, compared to the newer stuff.

Expect lots of dark, gritty war stories revolving around the major battles of the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War. I'll feature main characters where I can, but frankly I'll be really focusing on clone troopers and other soldiers that are mostly original characters.

If you've played Republic Commando, BOY, you know the atmosphere I'm going for.

Ace Combat -
This franchise is what brought me into FanFiction.net all those years ago. I've been on this site now for a while...just never as a writer. But this franchise made me fall in love with airplanes, decide I wanted to be an engineer and has me flying around in simulators and planes. There is just so much to thank Ace Combat for. My first tears in a video game were after Chopper was killed. I just couldn't take it. I love this series so much and I'll be depicting various stories that could have happened in the canon. Some of these will be one shots, perhaps Mobius 1 reflecting after a mission or maybe Pixy and Cipher sitting at a bar. Others however will be a full on discussion of the world of ace combat and I hope to perhaps write something similar to "The Ultimate Ace" that I have favorited. Its a shame that was never finished but I might write a similar one for Mobius 1 during the shattered skies war.

Franchises I may someday write about:

Elite Dangerous -
So funny thing, I've actually already written about this franchise. Not on here, but I do play the game regularly and while I have not played the original games I have made my mark on the community by writing in the fan-made magazine Sagittarius Eye. History of the Federation was my standout article. I wrote a few others before leaving due to real life responsibilities.

Because I do so much Powerplay within the game, (Ok I mean when I have a chance to play it, I will do Powerplay combat) I may write about these adventures from an In-Universe perspective. Gritty writing in this grounded realistic take on space really calls out to me.

Mobile Suit Gundam 08th MS Team -
I have never seen the entirety of the Gundam franchise, but I did watch this series through and through. Compared to another franchise (Patlabor) I feel this one is easier to write about. I didn't really like the romance in the show, but the way the suits were deployed as if they were just another piece of military hardware really drew me in. If you watch the intro to the series you can probably see what I'll be writing about, just simple life in the military, gritty combat, etc

Need for Speed -
Well if I ever write about Need for speed, it will be about the Hot Pursuit/Rivals era in the Franchise. I thought the weapons and missions in those two games really opened the door to some amazing story telling opportunities about drivers and high octane action. I won't lie though this series is pretty low on my list because writing about race cars is bloody difficult. I mean I've driven race cars in real life. Its an exhilarating experience and one I say you should definitely pursue...but...I have to be honest, taking that intensity and converting it into words is really difficult. I'm up for the challenge eventually.

Gran Turismo -
Much like Need for Speed, this would be the franchise I would use to excuse writing about real racing series and drivers in those series. As an engineer I could probably write a whole chapter on a brake change at hour 12 in the 24 hours of Le Mans but well, I'll get here when I get here.

Halo -
There's an interesting dynamic here with Halo. I've never actually played the games, but I've read a few of the books and I have a deep appreciation for the Franchise. I made a cross over between Halo and Elite Dangerous a while back for a friend. (UNSC vs The Federation) it was fun and I look forward to touching this again. Just not sure when or if I should learn more about the franchise so I know what I'm talking about in excruciating detail.

Franchises I am passionate about but will NEVER write about:

Patlabor -
Ok...so...here's the thing with Patlabor. It's exceptionally well done. The films are some of the best I have ever seen in the genre of political drama. The hyper realistic depictions of the Mecha are also just something otherworldly. However I have to admit. I personally am just not gifted enough to write anything better than what has been done already. Not to mention that I really believe this series works better in a visual medium. Its just something I can't hope to touch or even come close to. So while it has my utmost respect, I just won't bother with it.

Space BattleShip Yamato 2199 -
The only other anime I've ever seen as a series other than Sword Art Online and Initial D (Does Pokémon count? I don't think so). I really liked this reboot of the old series. BUT if I have to be honest, all the character development that could have happened was something that happened. I see very little reason to contribute more to this. But for anyone who hasn't seen this reboot, go ahead and watch it.

Megaman.EXE -
Well this is interesting. I love this series. Played the games and just loved the concept of the characters and their jacking into the digital world to fight viruses. However, as I grew older the series lost some of its magic and the themes they covered just seem to not be as in-depth as I wanted them to be. But how could they? I mean its a kids show. Honestly what I've wanted to see covered, has already been covered in other fanfiction here on this site (MegaMan.Exe and Roll.Exe) and the space this show occupied in my heart has been largely replaced with the much better Sword Art Online Franchise. Not better because SAO is a categorically better show, but because it provides more spaces and opportunities to write and develop the narrative. As well as dealing with more human characters than the children in the .EXE franchise. Either way though. The games will hold a special place in my heart.

Quantum Break -
Ok so I haven't finished the game yet (You should see my backlog) but this has served as my reason for writing my original book Chronic Shatter. I took the fact that a man can have time powers, and a university research setting. That's all I borrowed from the franchise. The story is great and I love the game, its combat is just ruthless and annoying sometimes. Otherwise my undergrad university was featured as part of the generic university assets that were used in the game. It was really cool to see that.

Subterfuge -
Much like Quantum Break, this franchise inspired an original novel (unnamed as of the time of this writing). The actual franchise however...is just an app. Its an excellent strategy game that really is all about backstabbing your friends. There really is no story. No characters. But the app has an underwater setting that I just loved so much I turned it into a story of my own with my one characters and completely my own storyline. Go download the app!

Well that's all folks! I'll certainly update this quite a bit as my writing profile takes shape!

AU reboot of the entire SAO storyline, beginning from the premise that Kayaba Akihiko was obsessed with magic and Norse Mythology rather than swords and pure melee.
