It's been... man maybe 13 years or so since the last I ever wrote something for this place. I was in high school back then, and writing fanfiction was just a hobby. With graduating and facing the uncertain future of college, medical school and eventually the practice of medicine I had decided that I had to give it up. It wasn't something I really wanted to give up on, but time wasn't on exactly on my side then. Too much on my plate, too much to do, too many more important things in need of accomplishing.

Fast forward 13 years later. A friend of mine that I recently got into watching RoosterTeeth's RWBY started reading fanfiction here on the show. I casually mentioned how I used to write fanfiction back then, and giving my old user name to her, she tracked my old work under the pen name Twisting Demon. My old high school self who once wrote fanfiction for the game Threads of Fate. She took a look at my work, much to may embarrassed dismay. Rather than horror at my amateurish ineptitude, she was actually kind of... impressed? English isn't my primary language unlike her, and she was impressed at my use of the language despite my age. It was with this that she tried to goad my back to writing.

So she showed me a bunch of her favorite works on RWBY on this site, to which I too was impressed. I ended up going through my old stuff, stuff I honestly have not seen in more than a decade. It was a nostalgic feel-trip. Like looking back at a part of me I left behind all those years ago. 13 years on I started to see my syntax and grammar errors, my writing style inconsistencies, among other things. Things you only see after having a few more years of life under my belt.

So I was convinced. I'm coming back. Writing is calling for me again
