Author has written 10 stories for Harry Potter, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Six of Crows. Hi everyone! So, I'm French, I'm 24 years old and currently working in Peru. I started reading everything I could find when I was very young, and started with Harry Potter. I read a lot of books, watch a lot of TV shows, write a lot of crappy stuffs (and share only the best with you guys ). I'm also working on an original story, but I never shared anything about it yet, it's in the very early stages of development. You can find me on Tumblr if you want, I'd love to chat with you guys !! My blog is No Matter the Oceans (same profile pic) My all time favorite books, read when I was a kid, are : Harry Potter, since it came out, these books shaped my life an ridiculous amount! His Dark Materials, I reread it about once a year, it's an incredible story, I love it. Artemis Fowl : started when I was a bit older (like 10 or 12yo) but super badass characters and cool story! A series of Unfortunate Events. These books are great, and if you loved the books, I'm pretty sure you're going to love the Netflix adaptation!Currently I'm mainly a fan of those book series: By Leigh Bardugo The Six of Crow Duology : everything about this story is perfect imo. The cast of characters is diverse on all levels (disability, sexual orientation, poc,... I don't want to give anything away but the six protagonists are all complex and interesting characters you can't help but fall in love with), the story is enticing, the world building is great, the different love stories are absolutely amazing. One of the best books I've read those past few years. Just GO READ IT !! :D The Grisha Trilogy : imo, not as amazing as Six of Crows, but still a good series. If you haven't read anything of the Grisha Universe, you should start with this series, it does an amazing job of world building, between other interests.By Sarah J. Maas Ok so I know Maas has a lot of issues she needs to work on her stories. Mainly : lack of diversity (nearly every character being white, the only poc having mainly tragic stories to further the white protagonist's character arch; also lack of diversity in her love stories, with nearly every character being hetero) and the representation of male characters (masculine toxicity is a real issue in her books. I love her characters but she also lacks diversity in representing different kind of masculinity). However, I can see the efforts she's putting into getting better with her writing, and I still really enjoy her stories! So : The Throne of Glass series : I had difficulties with the first book, but I'm glad I tried the second one because it got so much more interesting! The story is full of foreshadowing, and I LOVE foreshadowing haha !DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ALL THE BOOKS! My favorite book of the series is Tower of Dawn. The world building in this one is great, I loved discovering the Southern Continent and I hope Maas will explore it in other stories. My favorite character is Chaol : I know, unpopular opinion, but I loved him since chapter 2 of Throne of Glass (I think it's chapter 2, but like when him and Celaena talk together in the forest). My favorite couples are : Chaol and Yrene, Sartaq and Nesryn, Rowan and Aelin. A Court of Thorns and Roses series : Again, Maas nearly lost me with the first book. I found the first half to be extremely booooooring. I didn't like the love interest, there was barely any world building to interest me. BUT it got much better around the second third of the book. And it got MUCH much better in the second book. Again, huge spoiler coming so !DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ALL THE BOOKS! The second book was amazing, it triggered important issues such as dealing with depression, surviving sexual assault (from a man pov, and that's rare enough to mention it), getting out of toxic and abusive relationships,... I was really afraid it was going to turn onto something a bit too "twilight" (I didn't like Twilight btw), but it was amazingly written. I'm really excited for her next books in this series!!I am currently reading: A Discovery of Witches, by Deborah Harkness. Ok I officially abandoned this story, it was awfully boring and filled with a glorified abusive relationship, so I couldn't keep reading... You can read my thoughts in this post I made on tumblr. The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Artwood. I finished it like last night, and I loved it. It's a scary yet extremely believable distopian, written with a strange (but interesting imo) writing style. I really liked it and am currently trying to convince my boyfriend to watch the TV show!! TVShows I am obsessed with (in no particular order of liking): Supernatural: I finally caught up !!! So I'm all ready for season 14 next month. Also, Destiel!! Westworld: I started seaon 2 and I'm loving it so far Stranger Things: This series is soooo good!! Doctor Who: All-time favorite, I'm so excited about the new season!!!! I can't really chose a Doctor I love more than the others, they're all amazing. But I started watching when it was Eccleston and I love every single one of his episodes, I have sort of a special place for his Doctor in my heart. But honestly all 12 Doctors are amazing in their own way How I Met Your Mother: I'm not normally a fan of sitcom but I love this one, it's funny, plenty of foreshadowing, not a lot of illogical errors like in other sitcoms (I love FRIENDS but it's full of plotholes) iZombie: This show is SO good! I'm not a fan of zombie stuffs (never watched the Walking Dead for instance) but this series is awesome. Haven't watched the fourth season yet, I need to find time for it The Good Place. Just. Go watch it right now if you haven't seen it. I'm serious. Leave the fanfiction for today and go watch it. You won't regret it. |
