After being denied knighthood, master swordsman and outsider Artorias is tasked with protecting the three house leaders of Garreg Mach. When a mysterious man named Byleth saves the three leaders during a conflict, Artorias' current master reassigns him to serve and observe this young man that just became the instructor Garreg Mach desperately needed.

Upon Alan's return from war, things are far from perfect.
