Author has written 28 stories for Bones. -- I'm a Pisces, needless to say more. -- This would be my favourite reply whenever someone accuses me of being a tad too enthusiastic, a tad too verbose or a tad too enigmatic. Which happens more than would be good for me, to be honest. Luckily I can lose myself in fanfiction and use the aforementioned qualities to my advantage. Coming up with new ideas, working out storylines, the never-ending search of playful turns of phrases when I am actually writing... To say I absolutely adore writing would be a serious understatement. It is in my blood. Some people draw, some people dance, others make music. I write. It is that simple. It is my artistic way of making myself stand out and be noticed among a grey blur of look-a-likes. I mostly venture in the world of Bones. Ever since I saw the pilot episode, I have been hopelessly devoted to the Booth and Brennan dynamic. It has changed considerably since the very first episode, but it has done so in a most satisfying and enjoyable way. Their dynamic and the show in general have never ceased to spark my imagination. That should be obvious by the number of stories I have written so far. I should probably warn you for the high fluff rate of about the first ten stories I posted. Needless to say I am a romantic at heart--another typical trade of a true Pisces. But my stories have matured so no need to worry. Those of you who are against blatant, eyebrow-raising, sickeningly sweet fluff as much as I am (nowadays) can surely find something to satisfy your fanfic appetite. Four of my other loves are, in no particular order: 1) music, 2) books, 3) horse riding (not pony riding -- I feel the need to specify this after Death in the Saddle) and 4) conversing with the friends I've made abroad. Because I graduated a few months back and immediately found a job, I can freely indulge in the first two. The stacks of books on my shelves are steadily growing and my iTunes music library keeps expanding. It is pure heaven. Together with one of my online friends -- Jemb -- I have set up a modest LJ community: Sunflower Lily Productions. It is the home of the NJC challenge, posts about collaborations between Jemb and me, and sometimes one or two fic recommendations. You can find the website by googling Sunflower Lily Productions or you can simply click here. The Campaign for Better Reviews Jemb and I are sort of working on a "Guide to Better Reviews". Our goal is to improve the quality of reviews in the Bones fandom. A cookie review is easily given, but fellow writers will without a doubt agree that receiving a comprehensive review can be so much more satisfying. As a reader, if you reach the end of a chapter, it is such a small effort to hit that review button and type up a small note. It doesn't even have to be an essay. Just find something in the story/chapter you sincerely liked and point it out. Or, if it's the other way around, note what you think could be improved. But do so in a gentle way. A friendly, constructive review can go a long way. There are hundreds of things you can comment on; grammar, spelling, flow of the story, "in character-ness", and content of the story being just a few. Go ahead. Give it a try. People will respond better than you think... The "Spirit Bear" tie For those who have read Strappado, I have a link to share. Remember the "Spirit Bear" tie I mention in chapter 13? It's based on a tie Booth wore on the show. A picture of it can be found here: http:///gallery/displayimage.php?pid=191&fullsize=1. |
