The Druid Emrys gets sent by his people to Camelot to fulfill an ancient prophecy. He assumes the name Merlin, and finds himself the servant of Prince Arthur of Camelot. Three years later, circumstances force him to fake his and Lady Morgana's deaths, and they return to the Druids.
