The explanation, taken from the tryouts thread, for those of you who need refreshers:

CAPTAIN: The captain's responsibility is to encourage, motivate and mentor their team through the rounds. A week or so before round 1 begins, the 13 captains will be messaged with details. The captain will then gather their team together (if some have gone astray) and prepare.

KEEPER: The Keeper's job is to try and stop points from the other team. Each round, the Keeper's points will be subtracted from the opposing team. So, Keepers, write well, because the more points you score, the more your opposition will have taken away from them.

CHASERS: Each Chaser will be given a separate task from their fellow Chasers. A Chaser's job is to score extra points. For every optional prompt used, a Chaser will score three bonus points. However, each chaser may only use three out of the 15, and you can't have repeat choices. But, be careful, Chasers, because the Beaters will also have access to these prompts, and any Beaters who use the prompts on the opposing team, will block the Chasers from scoring. So, think carefully.

BEATERS: Beaters block. They try and cause harm to the other players. Though, as we're a friendly forum, we're not going to be mean. Simply, the Beaters can block the Chasers from scoring points. Each round, the Beaters will have access to the same 15 optional prompts as the Chasers. The Beaters are allowed to use five prompts between the two. For every prompt a Beater uses that a Chaser on the other team uses, the Chaser will not receive any points. But choose wisely, because remember, you can only use up to five of the 15 prompts between the two Beaters.

SEEKER: In Quidditch, the first Seeker to catch the Snitch ends the game. In fanfiction, the Seeker (between 2) who gets their entry in first will receive a bonus five points. That means in each round only six Seekers will be getting bonus points.

And when submitting your entry, please use this form to make it easy for the scorers to know who we're scoring.

Fics should be between 900 - 3000 words, and should be rated no higher than T.

Round 5 - What's in a Name?

Hello everyone, it seems a certain blonde French witch has taken over this round. That's right, Fleur Delacour is here, handing out flowers to every player.

Each position has been assigned a prompt that is inspired by the Harry Potter characters that have been named after flowers.

CAPTAIN: Red rose (as inspired by Rose Weasley): Write about a character in love during their time at school.

KEEPER: Daffodil (as inspired by Narcissa Malfoy): Write about a character acting chivalrous, or having another character acting chivalrous towards your character.

CHASER 1: Lupine (as inspired by Remus Lupin): Write about a character demonstrating resilience after a personal trauma or tragedy (for example, ill health, a death, etc.)

CHASER 2: Lavender (as inspired by Lavender Brown): Write about a character who is not able to trust someone they love.

CHASER 3: Pansy (as inspired by Pansy Parkinson): Write about a character loving another character despite being mistreated or ignored by them.

Got a question about my task.

Write about a character holding anger and resentment towards someone they love.

Can the character get over the resentment by the end, or does he need to continue to hold onto it?

As long as the majority of your fic (so about ~ 90%) features them holding that resentment/ mistrust, it doesn't matter if they end up resolving it :)

Question regarding chaser 1 prompt

Can the resilience from personal trauma include fear, guilt or heartbreak?. Or can it be the combination of everything?
