Epilogue
Five Years Later
Gabby quickly changed out of her work clothes and waited by the front doors of the common room for Matt. She leaned against the squad table as she flipped through pictures on her cell phone. She really missed Jackson and Jacob when she was on shift. A smile instantly sprang to her face as she found a picture of Matt holding both boys in his arms; all three of their faces were completely red from laughing so hard. She couldn't believe how much both of the boys looked like their father.
"What are you looking at?" Shay asked spotting her distracted best friend.
"Just my boys," Gabby replied as she turned the phone around to show Shay.
"They are so flipping adorable. I just can't get over how big they are. They seem to grow an inch a day, especially Jacob."
"I know he is going to be three next week and Jackson is in pre-school," Gabby sighed putting away her phone.
"Speaking of Jacob's birthday is there anything that he really wants?"
Gabby chuckled a little before answering, "Well much to Matt's dismay, he still on this police officer kick."
"Still?" Shay laughed.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure Uncle Antonio is enjoying it just a little too much," Gabby smiled at the thought of it.
"What are you ladies talking about?" Matt asked walking over to his wife and planted a kiss on her temple.
"Just the fact that your mini me is following in the footsteps of his uncle," Shay teased.
Matt slung his arm over Gabby's shoulders as they began to leave the station. "I still have time to get him on the right path."
The drive home was quite, Matt and Gabby were both tried from shift. Luckily over the last five years they developed a system when it came to watching the boys the day after shift. Gabby would be with them in the morning until lunch. Matt would then switch her places for a few hours, allowing both of them to get some sleep, but be able to still spend time with their kids. It wasn't a bulletproof plan but it worked for them.
They both grabbed their duffle bags and made their way into their house. Once Gabby found out she was pregnant with Jacob, they both knew their two bedroom apartment was too small for their growing family. They found a three bedroom house that needed a little work in Bucktown, not too far away from Molly's. After four months of repairs, they were able to move in.
Matt took hold of Gabby's hand as they climbed the steps to their front door, but before they could unlock the door, they could hear voices from the other side.
"Mommy and Daddy are home!" Jackson shouted as he unlocked the door. He quickly opened it and found his parents standing on the porch.
"Daddy!" he cried as he ran at him and jumped into his waiting arms.
Jacob wasn't far behind his older brother, he quickly moved towards his mother.
"Hey buddy," Matt greeted Jackson as he scooped him off of the ground and kissed him. "I missed you."
"I missed you too Daddy," he told his father as he hugged his neck.
"Mommy," Jacob squealed out of excitement as Gabby kissed him all over his face. They both walked into the house carrying each child.
"How was your shifts?" Gabby's mom asked coming into the living room holding a cup of coffee as she watched her grandchildren with their parents.
"We were pounded with runs all shift," Gabby said as he kissed Jacob again and then set him down along with her duffle bag.
"How were the boys?" Matt asked as he took a seat on the couch with Jackson in his lap.
"The boys were great as usual. They already ate breakfast and Jacob stayed dry all night," she said as she watched the soon to be three year old climb on to his father's lap too.
"Jacob you are such a big boy," Matt smiled as he kissed his son.
"That is great news," Gabby smiled looking over at her husband sitting with their sons.
"Well I should get going and leave you guys to enjoy your day."
"Thanks mom," Gabby said as she hugged her mom.
"Boys go say goodbye to Abuela," Matt said as he set the boys down and stood up. Jackson and Jacob raced over to her and said their goodbyes. Matt was the last one to say goodbye and thanked her for watching the kids.
Matt spent a little more time with the boys before going to sleep for a few hours. Gabby knew that he always felt guilty, but it was complete selfishness on her part. There was nothing better then spending the morning with Jackson and Jacob. This was when they would let her cuddle them and snuggle with her. By the time Matt got up with the boys, they were ready to run wild.
The day went by quickly, after Matt and Gabby both got some sleep they took the boys to the zoo and then the park. By the time they got home it was almost dinner time. Gabby went straight to the kitchen and began cooking, while Matt bathed each boy.
After they ate they enjoyed family time before putting the boys to bed. Gabby changed out of here jeans and tank top into her silk short night gown. She sat on the edge of the bed applying her lotion.
Matt watched her from the doorway of their bedroom, "You know that you are most beautiful woman I have ever seen."
Gabby looked up and gave him a small smile, "Matthew Casey you are such a smooth talker. Are the boys a sleep?"
"Yes," Matt stated as he slowly made his way in front of Gabby and began to run his hands up and down her bare arms, "Gabriela Casey you have no idea," he mumbled as he took control over her lips. She quickly gave in and wrapped her arms around his neck and drew him closer to her body as she laid back.
Matt hover above her pulling his lips away from her's, "I mean it Gabby, every time I look at you it takes my breath away."
She ran her fingers through his hair, her eyes looking into his, "I feel the same about you."
Matt closed the distance again with his lips, he deepen this kiss by running his tongue against her lips, begging for permission. Gabby immediately replied to his gesture by parting her mouth and began to stroke his tongue with her own. They hurriedly removed any article of clothing from one another.
"Matt," Gabby moaned with every movement Matt made. She squeezed her eyes as pleasure coursed through her body. Matt loved seeing her like this, so vulnerable and exposed. He quickened his pace as she begged for him, causing both of them to reach their climax.
Gabby laid her head on Matt chest; she listened to his heart beat as they laid in the after glow. Her eyes began to get heavy with each motion of his chest.
"Gabby," Matt spoke quietly.
"Yeah," she mumbled with her eyes still closed.
"You know I was thinking about what life is going to be like in thirty years down the road and I keep seeing you and me sitting at a kitchen table with our kids and grandkids."
"That would be nice," Gabby smiles as the thought passes through her mind.
"I know that I may not have done everything right in my life, but I know that I made the right decision to love you." She lifted her head from his chest and looked him into his blue eyes as he continued, "This life we have, our family is everything to me and I just want you to know there is not a moment I am not thankful."
Gabby nodded her head as she ran her hand over the side of Matt's face, "Matt we have faced a lot of obstacles to get to where we are today and we both know that there will be more to come, but I promise we will face them together and we will be that couple in thirty or even forty years."
"I'm holding you to that," he said as he kissed her waiting lips.
