I have nothing much to say but enjoy the chapter for those that have waited so long for this. In this chapter there will be some description to the mansion and also the flashback to how Takato, Rika, Guilmon and Renamon became stuck in the Digital World.
Digimon Tamers
The Matsuki Chronicles
1: The Beginning
They've been walking for a while, on their way to the mansion where the leader of the town resides, who turns out to be one of the friends they've been looking for. Taking them there was someone who looks like their other friend but wasn't because of how she introduced herself and what she really was. Apparently Ruki Matsuki is a clone of Rika, made out of data but turned human by someone they have no knowledge of… yet. Not only that but she and Takato had a child who was walking next to her, protectively held by the hand along the way. As they continue on, the newcomers were getting attention from the Digimon they pass by.
They were unable to miss it as their eyes roam about to see the number of stalls, being Ryo the one to ask, now looking at the back of Ruki's head. "Why are the Digimon looking at us? It's like they haven't seen a human before since Takato and Rika are like us."
Ruki kept her uninterested eyes forward, Shun unable to resist to look back as best he could as his mother replies. "Them, me and Alice they're used to. You three on the other hand are different since they don't trust newcomers. What, you thought you could waltz into town, ask questions and get what you're looking for without arousing suspicion? Don't make me laugh because you would've been caught and reported before we threw your butts in jail."
All that and one name caught Henry's attention that got him to ask. "Alice? Is it okay I ask what her last name is?" He was curious to know because of the Alice that came to mind and thought it might be the same one.
"It's Matsuki, after she became Takato's wife. Although before that she was known as McCoy, Alice McCoy." Ruki did not look back to witness the blue haired Tamers surprise.
He indeed remembered Alice, not hard to since it was her Digimon friend, Dobermon, who sacrificed himself to allow him, Takato and Rika to Biomerge in the Real World so they could take on the D-Reaper. After it was all over and the Digimon returned home, Henry told Yamaki and the others about their encounter with Alice, turned out she was Dolphin's granddaughter. The man was saddened at the lack of information of her whereabouts. Janyu gave whatever information about her, but there were painful memories he promised to never divulge so as not to hurt Dolphin emotionally whether he was in the room or not.
"So Takato is married to both you and Alice? Can I take a guess that Rika is also his wife?" Jeri asks out of curiosity, not needing a lot to put two and two together.
It made the redhead chuckle at the given assumption. "Wow, you got that by just thinking it over, didn't you? You didn't have to ask something like, "Is Rika married to Takato too?""
Ryo didn't seem happy at the knowledge on Takato being married to Rika. He was then brought out of his jealous thoughts by what Ruki said next. "Hope you're not intending to see Rika today. Takato, Alice and the Digimon are okay, but Rika has to stay in bed for the time being."
"Why? Is something wrong with her?" Jeri asks out of concern for her friend.
"Not really, just she's almost due to have the baby and…" She suddenly got cut off by a unison exclamation from behind. "Baby!" It got her to stop in her tracks to look back and see shocked expressions from all but Cyberdramon, all had come to a halt also. "Oh right, I forgot to mention that part until now."
As she scratches the back of her head due to her forgetfulness, Shun couldn't help but laugh with a hand over his mouth. "You actually made a mistake, Mom."
The woman playfully glares at her son. "You better watch it, young man, or I might give you some chores to do when we get home." Her words made Shun look away, a frown while mumbling. "No fair…" This gave Ruki reason to smirk out of victory.
Henry, Jeri, Ryo and Terriermon still couldn't believe what they heard by their remained features, not even paid attention to most of the Digimon that heard their outburst. Ruki noticed though, looking in one direction then another, deciding to do something about it with words after a couple loud claps of her hands. "Okay, everyone, back to what you were doing! Don't want the day to turn strange just because of some visitors from out of town, do we?"
A good amount thought she had a point and did as they were told, though the rest took a little more time to do the same. Eventually the attention they received went away before they moved onward, after the newcomers finally snapped out of it.
"Let me get this straight." Henry starts while the bridge of his nose got rubbed. "Takato is married to you, Rika and Alice. You have his son and Rika is due to have a baby because of him…"
"I also forgot to mention Alice had a daughter with him and is three months pregnant with their second child. Takato and Rika also have their first daughter who's eight like Shun here and Kara at home."
The information added to what they were given almost gave Henry a headache, but he manages to move on from it. "Okay, I think I got it now. But what's this about Takato being the leader of this town? Shouldn't it be a Digimon instead of a human?"
For some reason Ruki remains quiet as they walk, unsure whether or not she should talk about it. Shun knew what was going on at the way he squeezes his mothers hand a little to show he was there. He and his sisters were told enough to know that a good friend of their parents passed on, leaving his father the responsibility to keep their home safe from those that wish to bestow harm. The children are young but they had a knack to understand things.
Ruki felt the squeeze, eyes looking down to see her son's smile that got her to return it. A choice was made on what she was to say for an answer. "You will have to talk to Takato about that. I feel there will be a lot of questions and answers to be exchanged."
Confused on what she meant, the three humans dropped the subject and just followed the two Matsuki's to their home in silence. Unfortunately, it didn't stay that way for long when Terriermon decided to speak. "Hey, what's Guilmon been up to these years? Eating bread and gaining weight I bet. When not playing, that is."
Henry glares at his partner at what was said. "Terriermon!"
Before he could speak up in defence, Ruki's truthful answer caught their attention. "Actually he's doing quite well, though is hardly the type to play when helping Takato with whatever duties he's suited for. Plus he's quite the father with his own kids aside from looking after all of ours when needed."
"Come again!" The long, dog/rabbit eared Digimon yells in complete surprise, practically making Henry go deaf in one ear since he was that close. Jeri kindly took Terriermon off so her husband could rub it better.
She didn't stop to explain, just kept on walking with them in tow. "Guilmon got together with Renamon, my partner Clair, and Alice's partner BlackRenamon who we call Blare. They have a family of their own, a Viximon, BlackGigimon and a WhiteGigimon."
The group came to a stop and were surprised to hear this, Cyberdramon looked uninterested and Terriermon didn't seem to feel his mouth hanging open. After it wore off on their part, Ryo was the one to speak. "I never heard of a BlackGigimon or a WhiteGigimon. Come to think of it, I don't think I came across a WhiteRenamon, though may have heard about BlackRenamon/"
Unable to help but roll her eyes, Ruki and Shun kept going rather waste time. She didn't look to see them catch up, though felt they did and therefore gave an explanation to what Ryo said. "To make things clear, Mr Akiyama, it's like this. Clair is rare for her kind because she's most effective against virus Digimon. BlackRenamon are quite a number out there to come across like Renamon herself. As for the children, BlackGigimon and WhiteGigimon are new breeds since Guilmon is a creation of Takato's drawing. After he…" She looks down to her son, words chosen carefully because of his age. "Did what he had to, they were born as eggs along with Viximon and eventually hatched into what they are."
It was a lot to take in again, Jeri being the one to eventually speak out of happiness for the playful saurian she knew. "I'm so happy for Guilmon, and Takato too! At least we know everyone has been doing well while stuck here."
Cyberdramon notices his Tamers frown that went unnoticed by everyone, he said nothing about it to be on the safe side as everyone made it the rest of the way to the mansion in silence.
The Matsuki Mansion: The Sitting Room
The room they were in was located on the left of the foyer through the single door. It has a wall of shelves full of books where the fireplace is placed, a wooden mantle above it, supported by a pair of stone, thin columns. On the mantle are family pictures of the Matsuki's when the kids were babies, their Digimon partners also in the picture, each Renamon breed holding their recently hatched children by their In-Training forms.
A second picture on the left was of Takato, his wives and 4 year old children, Takato held Shun by the legs over his shoulders, Rika on the left and Ruki the right by their hairstyles, both with an arm round their husband and heads in close. Alice faced the camera on her knees at the front in the middle, hands on her lap with Cassie on the same side as her mother and Kara on the opposite, both their arms wrapped round Alice's. The family looked happy, like the third picture on the right of the group one that has Guilmon's own, the saurian sat with BlackGigimon in his folded arms. Renamon was on the left on a knee with Viximon in her arms, same for Clair on the right with WhiteGigimon, and Blare was behind Guilmon, arm's wrapped round his neck and head on top of his.
There was a comfortable sofa and two chairs, a magnificently carved wooden coffee table placed in the middle, the floor being wooden like all the rest in the house, though the sitting room had a soft, red rose carpet beneath the furniture. The light above had a fan attached and a dimmer switch on the side of either of the two doors that exit the room. A rectangular, wooden cabinet with sliding glass doors and a shelf stood next to the door that led to the foyer, the top shelf held stone statues of Digimon figures with names engraved on the stands, and the bottom held interesting items. The medium sized window had a couple filled flower vases on it sill, and the curtains were dark blue.
Alice sat on one of the chairs and Takato was on the sofa, the three Digimon were on their feet in front of him by the inactive fire. The human male was in deep thought, hunched forward so his arms could rest on his thighs, his single eye focused on the table at the time.
"How are you going to approach them?" The pale blondes question got him to look in her direction on the right seat, not quite sure how to answer yet from the way he opened then closed his mouth.
Blare continues to stare along with Renamon and Guilmon, arms folded and tempted to speak her mind, though chose not to for now. Renamon didn't seem to mind butting in that it got everyone's attention when asked. "Should I inform Rika of this? I know you don't want to because of how she might react, but she does deserve to know."
Takato knew she had a point, since Renamon does tend to be right most of the time, although something like this is a different matter. "I don't know to tell you the truth…Jeri and Henry are her friends as well, though she might get mad when she finds out about Ryo. Plus, since they're here to bring us back, I doubt they'll leave after being given a simple no."
Alice took in the words while rubbing the still developing bulge of her stomach, eyes locked onto it as she spoke. "It was only you, Guilmon, Rika and Renamon that ended up here on that day, so I may have to explain why I'm here."
"Does the same go for Clair and me?" Blare asks, it being the right time to speak. Renamon answers that it got the black kitsune's head to turn. "You may have to, being Alice's Tamer after all and Clair being Ruki's." Guilmon couldn't think of anything to say so stays quiet, listening to whoever was next to talk.
There were a lot of things to get through because of their soon to come guests, it made Takato sigh. He said while rubbing his forehead. "We'll see how it goes and explain whatever needs to be answered."
"I think Takato should do most of the talking." Guilmon finally spoke in the form of a suggestion. It got the women to think and Takato to glare at his Digimon partner. It didn't take long to drop his head because of the simultaneous response. "Agreed." It was as if a unanimous vote was cast and he clearly lost.
Head still down, eye closed and right hand rubbing the bridge of his nose, Takato asks. "And why should I do most of the talking when I have all of you here to help fill in blanks I may have forgotten?"
"It is your duty as leader to speak to newcomers to the town, even if they are old friends." Renamon took the liberty to remind him while the others remain quiet.
Takato looks up at her with a raised brow. "They're not strangers to you or Guilmon." The response received was silence from the calm kitsune, making the town leader sigh after a short staring match with her. "Fine, I'll do what I can for most of it. Anything I'm stuck on though one of you is helping." He gestures to both Renamon then Guilmon, both unable to see a problem with that.
"I know we already discussed it, but I think Rika has the right to know." Alice said, going back to a previous topic.
Takato knew that and couldn't disagree after some thought put in. "Either me or Renamon will tell her after they leave. If I'm right they'll stay until they have a full explanation. It'll give us plenty of time with what I can think of to tell them."
A thought came to mind that made Alice point out. "Where are they going to sleep? Shun has his room, the girls have their shared one, the In-Training Digimon share their parents room, ours that you let Rika and I use while you and Ruki are temporarily in the only spare room. We don't have the room unless they sleep in here on the sofa or move some futons into the dining room."
A wave of a hand and shake of his head, Takato had an idea in mind. "We'll just send them to the Feathery Inn and take care of the bill. The beds there are comfortable to sleep in that it's difficult to want to leave. You remember them, Guilmon. You practically kicked me once or twice because of how soft they were when I tried to wake you."
The memory made the red saurian even redder, if possible, in the face from embarrassment, a single claw scratching the side of his head as he nervously chuckles at the memory. "That was a long time ago, Takato…" He not long heard the sound of Blare's giggling and the feel of Renamon's paw on top his head, making him feel warmer because two of his mates were beside him to be reminded of the event also.
Fortunately for him, Alice came in to assist. "I think it's a good idea. It's best for them to sleep in a nice, warm bed after all the traveling they probably did to get here." Her husband nods in agreement.
…
The group stood outside the metal barred, double gate of the mansions outer wall, the newcomers in town being surprised at the size of the house, except for Cyberdramon. The path in front of them led to the steps of the structure that had a stone overhead supported by some columns. On both sides of the path was grass with short length trees and various kinds of beautifully grown flowers, also a wall on both sides of the house to block off the garden at the back.
"You all… live here…?" Henry asks, after he finally found his voice, unable to believe the structure behind the gate belonged to his friends. The others felt the same despite the truth being the same view as their blue haired companions.
Ruki ignores their similar reaction and calmly answers while facing them, a chuckle heard from Shun since their expressions were priceless to look at. "Yep, this is it. Welcome to the home of the towns leader, who practically inherited it from the previous leader, and the one before him and so on. It had a lot of history before it was remade to suit our needs. Now, are we going to just stand here or go in?"
She didn't wait for a response, Ruki turns round to place a hand on the stone post of the left gate, allowing a portion of it to glow blue along with her hand, thus made the gates open. As they enter it seems safe, but by the time Cyberdramon passed the gates began to glow.
Everyone came to a stop at the sight of this, especially when the same affect happened to the Ultimate Digimon. Ryo became completely worried. "Cyberdramon!" He moves to face Ruki with a glare; she just stood there watching the whole thing, the same with Shun. "What's going on? What's happening to him?"
"Calm down, would you? Take a look." She calmly said. A head gesture made in his partner's direction so he could witness what took place.
Suddenly Cyberdramon changed to his Rookie form Monodramon. Eyes blink in confusion, now going to his raised claws to find nothing out of place after the blue glow came to a stop. "That was weird, but kind of tickly."
"Your Cyberdramon didn't fill the requirement to enter the house. The gates absorption process drained energy from him so he could turn to his Rookie form without any harm done. Takato tends to get visitors and wishes no damage to the house due to their size." The redheaded woman explains while Jeri and Ryo inspect Monodramon to see if he was really okay.
Henry took a look at one of the gates with Terriermon on his shoulder, impressed on what happened. A hand went to one of the bars, feeling only the metal it was made from and nothing else. "Amazing."
"Why didn't you tell us about this on the way here?" Ryo asks with a frown, a sideways look in her direction, unpleased at the lack of information that would've saved him the worry.
The woman shrugs, arms folded at the time of her reply. "I thought it would've been better to show than tell." She places a hand on her sons back then turns round to escort him the rest of the way.
When they finally got into the foyer, the emotions Ryo felt earlier went away at the sight of the first place of the mansion. If this was the reaction he and the others got from one part of it, what would be the result when they see the rest?
A door was on both sides and another a bit further down the hall on the left of the stairs that had its own underneath that led to either a storage room or basement. The choice of light they had was a fan fixed on with a few bulbs instead of a single, a banister upstairs going along the left where the hallway continues like on the right passed the stairs. There was also a coat rack on their left next to the door.
"Whoa! Are we sure this is the right place? No way would Takato be caught dead in a place like this." Terriermon said, an obvious joke since it was indeed the right place seeing as they followed Ruki the whole way.
Said woman didn't like the long eared Digimon's joke by the frown on her face, arms folded also. Shun sat halfway up the staircase, patiently waiting as Henry scolds Terriermon, leant forward with both arms on his legs. Fortunately he didn't have to wait long, the door to the sitting room opens to reveal the smiling face of his father, having Alice behind him and the three Digimon seen further in the room. Shun greets the man, a wave from his left hand. "Hey Dad."
Takato acknowledges by asking while Alice took a spot on her husband's right. "How did the walk with your mother go, Shun?"
"It went fine, until we had to come back because of them." He replies, a finger pointed at their visitors, his eyes still on Takato.
The gesture made the man chuckle at how Shun inherited some of Ruki's personality in him, seeing as the clone has what it is to be the pregnant redhead upstairs, looks, personality, even taste in clothes and copied memories to make her look and be like Rika. "Be nice now, son. These are friends of both mine and your mother Rika."
Shun gave it some thought first, it didn't take long to make up his mind. "Okay, I'll try."
All Ryo, Henry, Jeri, Terriermon and Monodramon did was remain where they were and observe the conversation going on. Stun or surprised were still evident on their faces at the sight of their friend. Takato grew up where not only his height was affected but also his muscles, too. Not to forget the thoughts forming to do with his left eye.
Henry, being the only one out of his small group who met Alice, aside from Terriermon being there at the time, studies the pale blond woman then notices the still developing stomach. If this was the condition Alice was in being pregnant, he wondered the state Rika was in, plus how the latter was taking it.
Alice notices the stare and gave Henry a nod to show he was caught, making his eyes go back to the father and son that came to an end after what Takato requested. "Could you go out to the garden and help Clair watch your sisters, Viximon, BlackGigimon and WhiteGigimon?"
Not needing a reason to refuse, Shun stood up, a playful salute made as he replies. "Okay, but I'm not playing hide and seek if Auntie Clair's looking for us." He didn't notice the two kitsune's smirk at one another as he went through the sitting room and so on in the direction to the garden. The two, Guilmon, Takato, Ruki and Alice knew what he meant and couldn't help find it a little funny on the unfairness of Clair using her abilities of speed and stealth in a kid's game.
After the door closes, it was time for things to get underway for the adults. Henry walks up to his best friend to give a brotherly hug, words of relief voiced as the gesture was returned. "I can't believe we finally found you. Do you have any idea how long it took us to find where you were?"
Takato couldn't help but chuckle as the two men back away from the broken hug, able for the blue haired person to see the smile on his friends face. Takato said. "I can imagine it must've been tough. You never know what the Digital World throws at you." After a received nod of agreement, Takato shifts his gaze to Terriermon then asks. "How've you been doing, Terriermon?"
Said Digimon smiles at the attention, thinking he may have been forgotten since he was on Henry's shoulder the whole time. "Same old stuff. There wasn't a lot to do while you guys were gone until Henry's kids were born and I was allowed to entertain them."
"Kids?" It was the only thing Takato could say that popped into his head. He looks from Terriermon to Henry for an explanation.
The blue haired man felt a bit awkward at what was to be said, he rubs the back his head at the time, eyes went to the floor also. "Jeri got pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl."
"Yeah, and you should see them." Terriermon decides to cut in to his Tamers chagrin for what came next. "They look like their parents in the opposite way. Meaning Karen looks like Henry because of her hair and eye colour, and Lucas is the same but with Jeri's. It's almost like they had a…"
Henry quickly plucks his partner off his shoulder, hand over his mouth, a threatening glare in his eyes. "What did I tell you about that, Terriermon?"
It almost sounded like a "Momentai" came from him, only it was muffled to make out. Takato ignores them for now and allows it to be sorted on their own, moving on to the other people that were there. He walks up to Jeri then smiles, the two smile as they embrace after so long of not seeing the other. "It's really good to see you, Jeri."
"You too, Takato." She said, happier on the inside than the out to see her friend was right here, though not a hundred percent intact by the looks of the eye patch, but it was still happiness nonetheless to see he was alive.
"Remember me, Jeri?"
The two broke apart to find a happy Guilmon by his Tamers side. Jeri giggles at the question, she embraces the saurian next, who didn't hesitate to return it. "Of course I do, silly. I'm really glad to see you're okay, Guilmon."
Takato smiles at the reunion the two were having before his sight went to Ryo, who looks almost forgotten at the way affection was shared to everyone but himself and Monodramon. "What, don't I get a hug or something as a greeting?" He gives a smile during the question, a head tilt and hand to his belt just for show.
A chuckle escapes the Takato's mouth before he holds out a hand that was shaken by the former Digimon King. "It really is good to see you're healthy, Ryo. How've you been doing?" Takato then strokes an appreciated Monodramon's head at the time of Ryo's explanation.
"Pretty good, considering Monodramon and I couldn't travel to the Digital World to find you guys after the Locomon incident. Plus whatever happened on this side that closed the portal also stopped Digimon appearing into the Real World. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"
Hearing this got the two Renamon species to exchange a serious, sideways glance, knowing this was coming, although didn't expect it this soon.
Fortunately, Jeri steps in to intervene on the topic, rather curious what her friends have been up to aside from making a family. She took a hold of Takato's arm and pulls him in the direction of the sitting room, a big smile when she said. "There's plenty of time for that later. Why don't we sit down and talk for a bit?"
Henry took the time to ask his wife just as she passes. "How about we hang our cloaks up first to avoid messing up their furniture?" The question made Jeri remember about the mentioned article of clothing they still wore, a bit embarrassed she forgot about them.
After that was done, the humans were seated comfortably, Alice being on the chair from earlier and Takato the opposite, Ruki sat on the left armrest of her husband's seat with an arm leaning on the back rest, the other three took their spot on the sofa. Terriermon sat on top of Guilmon's head, the latter being on the carpet in front of the inactive fire with Monodramon. Blaire stood next to her Tamer on the right and Renamon leant against the wall behind them with her arms folded.
No one said a word, probably unsure where to start since a number of questions went through all their minds. Finally Henry came forth to speak the first thing that came to mind. "I believe congratulations are in order for you and Rika, Takato. Not forgetting Alice."
He didn't quite get it, though not long got the idea when the two said women had something in common to have Ruki left out. He gave a short laugh then responds. "Thanks for that. It wasn't exactly planned but we're happy."
Jeri eyes Ruki in curiosity, not going unnoticed when she got caught that made the redhead ask. "What?"
Even though she had Rika's face, hair and eyes, it didn't mean this person was indeed Rika herself, not being the reason why Jeri looks to one side, not sure really why she was shy on the question in mind to do with the woman. Eventually she spoke before her lack of an answer got Ruki annoyed. "I was just wondering if you were… maybe, you know… the same as Rika and Alice."
Ruki didn't care whether or not it was personal, she replies after it was put together on what Jeri meant. "No, I'm not… Although we are considering it, aren't we, sweetie?" She even pushed herself to wrap both arms round Takato, head on his shoulder with a smile, perhaps up to something from the look in her eyes and suggestiveness in her tone of voice.
Though this wasn't the Rika they knew, how she said those words felt a bit odd to hear since the redhead they remember never used such words. On the other hand, they were teenagers at the time and wouldn't give it any thought unless they were a bit older.
Takato didn't seem to feel the same on being open like her by clearing his throat then moves onto a different subject. Ruki releases Takato after he leans back, his arm on the only armrest available. "How about you tell us a bit about Karen and Lucas?"
He could tell when his friend didn't want to talk about it by the way he avoided Ruki's question, so Henry went along with it. "They're turning nine in a few months and are good kids when they want to be. Karen took up Suzie's hobby in the Miss Princess Pretty Pants Treatment on Terriermon a couple years ago after her aunt told her how fun it was. She even took pictures whenever she babysits the twins."
This information brought Terriermon to a frozen halt, unable to tell if his long ears picked up what sounded like a giggle from Renamon or if it were someone else. Right now he had other matters to attend to. "She did what?!"
His outburst got a glare from the females of the household while Guilmon looked upwards at him. Takato was the one to voice their similar reason with a frown. "Terriermon, Rika is asleep upstairs, so keep your voice down. If you don't you're going to spend this visit in the basement."
The threat, from the way it sounded, caught the trio on the sofa by surprise a bit since Takato wasn't the type, excluding that time outside Sovereign Zhuqiaomon's palace after the deletion of Leomon by Beelzemon where Megidramon came into the picture. Clearly time here has changed him aside from appearance and position in the town.
Terriermon did as he was told, especially when Ruki added. "And if that doesn't work, I would gladly put some bumps on your head that'll surely shut you up." She calmly took the time to look at the knuckles on her left fist whilst she said that. The truth in her voice made the Rookie Digimon gulp, making sure to keep the volume down the next time he wants to say something.
To move things along, Henry clears his throat to get everyone's attention. "Can we move back to before Terriermon interrupted? Or maybe change the subject."
Thankful for his way of thinking, Takato would rather the latter than continue where they left off in case it brought another outburst. "How's everyone else doing? Our families, Kazu and Kenta, Yamaki even?" Even though the man had done bad things in the past, he tried to make it right in whatever way possible, for example when he gave Takato the communication device before he and the others went to the Digital World for the first time.
Ryo answers randomly rather go in order for each person. "Well… Yamaki and Riley got married, have a son and still work at Hypnos, although Riley soon left to take care of their boy instead of hiring a nanny."
Takato chuckles at the thought of the man being married to Riley, the same person he recalls buying bread from his parents bakery, then officially met her when the D-Reaper ended up in the Real World and she, Yamaki and Tally found the Tamers at the bakery.
Henry took over to explain things off topic. "Since the portal had been closed, Yamaki got some staff at Hypnos to find a way to open it again so we could get you, Rika, Guilmon and Renamon home. Only what they found was a virus infecting the portal and didn't want to risk opening it in case it spreads to either the Real World or further on the network. It slowly dissipated in time, but fortunately Hypnos found a way to be rid of it completely to allow safe travel both ways. Although it took longer than expected due to failed attempts, some finance debates of it being a waste of money, and also theories had to be taken in to assure it would work or not."
To their guest's confusion, Takato avoided eye contact, also scratched the back of his head nervously. It wasn't until he decided to speak, no need to hide such a thing since they had to know. "Yeah… Guilmon and I kind of had something to do with that."
Henry, Jeri and Ryo became really confused at what was heard, exchanging eye contact from one person to the other. Those eyes then locked on to Takato, who continues not to make eye contact till Ryo asks in suspicion. "What do you mean you and Guilmon kind of had something to do with it?"
This is where things were to get a bit awkward for Takato and his family for the story he has to tell, where himself, Guilmon, Rika and Renamon were the only witnesses to what happened that day. The day where it began for them, the day they became trapped in a world that turned into their new home.
Flashback- 23 years ago!
It was her birthday and they were on their way to the Digital World thanks to a portal made by the Digimon named Parasimon that took control of a locomotive Digimon called Locomon, now in the form of GrandLocomon. They thought they would end up somewhere like the desert, but it turned out to be a completely different place this time.
"Shield of the Just!"
A strong blast shoots out from Gallantmon's shield, tearing through half a dozen Parasimon that stood in his way. The red caped knight thrusts his lance into the next one that dared get close to use some of its tentacles on him.
Sakuyamon jumps off the top of one as a way to get up into the air, even though she was okay to do it on her own. Giving a twirl of her staff from one hand to the other and back, she readies an attack.
"Fox Drive!"
A single blue flame descends onto one target then expands into a large sphere to take out as many that got caught in it. She lands in what could have been their ashes if they weren't turned to data before the fiery sphere extinguished.
The two Mega's were up against a nest of them, located in what looks to be the inside of an oversized, extinct volcano, definitely a place neither have been before. Also perfect for the Parasimon to live in, especially with the many tunnels about the place where more came in by. The portal to the Real World towered in the middle, but the parasite army seem interested in the meal that came to them instead of the other way round and therefore dealt with them first.
One pounced on Gallantmon from behind, followed by some more until the white knight was covered. Sakuyamon saw this and tries to lend assistance, if it weren't for her mess of opponents blocking the way.
"Get out of my way, you walking freak shows! Amethyst Wind!" In her anger at being stopped, the shaman Digimon summons a shower of pink glowing cherry blossoms that took out a good number of them, unfortunately not enough to break through.
More came to replace those that fell in battle. The increase in numbers made Sakuyamon grit her teeth, the annoyed tone of voice from Rika heard. "These bugs are really getting on my nerves. Five go down and a bunch just replaces them!"
Suddenly the sight of Gallantmon's Lightning Joust could be seen, tearing through from the right then quickly moves upwards, able to take out most of them to reveal he held one back by his shield that begun to charge up.
"Shield of the Just!"
That attack not only obliterated it but also the ones that charged in the same direction. Although he made it out okay, Gallantmon felt uneasy at both the feel and sight of Parasimon's saliva on his armour when they tried to eat him.
"That didn't feel at all good, Takatomon." Guilmon's voice said. A shiver went down the knight's spine, not wanting to go through that again.
Takato fully agreed with him, trying to ignore the feel as he made their Biomerged form shake as much off. "You got that right, boy. Now I know how food must feel like. Just be glad they didn't take us in their mouths piece by piece or we'd have been done for."
Silence came from his partner after Gallantmon manages to get off what he could. When it looked good the saurian decides then to speak. "… Takatomon, can we eat after this? I'm starting to get hungry."
The question made Takato glad he was floating inside the orange sphere, a look of disbelief that was a bit humorous due to the timing. "Guilmon, couldn't you have waited to ask me that WHEN we're not fighting for our lives?!"
In time to block a charge with the shield, the Tamer still gains a reply. "Sorry." Gallantmon then jumps and pierced the eye with a thrust of his lance that got a scream of pain, though no more once he used Lightning Joust to end its life.
Soon the two Mega's meet back to back after fending off what they could, unable to keep it up forever.
"I think… even MegaGargomon's firepower couldn't… get through this lot." Gallantmon dual voice said, not giving up even when he tries to get his breath back.
Sakuyamon was the same. Rika's voice took over to say. "Pity we won't find out since Brainiac and the rabbit aren't here." Speaking of the two, help would greatly be appreciated, maybe even from GrandLocomon had he came through at the same time as them. Unfortunately they lost him after Gallantmon managed to yank Parasimon off and got sent flying through the portal along with Rika and Renamon to where they ended up at.
The two parted when tentacles from both sides shot forth, having them tangled in the middle. The white knight attacks with his lance and blocks with his shield, where as the shaman Digimon attempts to divert incoming tentacles with the use of her staff as she got close to one.
"Crystal Sphere!"
Sakuyamon delivers the attack in the form of a pink energy sphere that expands, able to take out a bit more than a few after it touches them. Once done she looks over to where a number of them re-direct for the portal, Sakuyamon alerts her companion in her dual voice. "Gallantmon, we have a problem!"
He manages to impale his lance into the intended target before the shout came to his ears. "Huh?" He remains still as his eyes move towards the portal. The Parasimon being dealt with are now a distraction to allow others access to the portal, on their way to the Real World. "Nooo!"
After he removes his weapon and got into a high jump, a few tentacles caught him by the leg and brought him face down. He would've been dragged the whole way had he not spun round to take aim with his charged up lance.
"Lightning Joust!"
The attack made a direct hit to end it, giving the knight a chance to get on his feet and try again for the portal.
"Spirit Strike!"
Sakuyamon's summoned fox spirits may have done the job on what they could, but it still left them with way more the two Mega's can handle. Eventually they'd tire out and would be easy to be dealt the final blow, but Rika's determination to keep going was inspiration for Renamon to do the same, as well as to allow no harm come to the redhead.
"There's too many, Takatomon! I don't think we'll get to the portal in time!"
Guilmon's worried voice made said Tamer shake his head, not planning to give in at all. "We're not going down and let them win, Guilmon! We have to keep going. I'm not going to let them into our world and hurt everyone." Guilmon didn't want that either, able to feel something surge within that gave the white knight what he needs to perhaps end this.
Gallantmon began to glow with power, letting off a dual yell as smoke emerges almost all over his body. The now burning white knight shot up into the air, catching Sakuyamon's attention, same for all the Parasimon that witnessed this.
"Gallantmon Mode Change to… Crimson Mode!"
The light shatters like glass as the transformed knight continues to ascend for a short bit, then shoots towards the portal after he summons Gungnir into his hand.
As Sakuyamon looks on in awe, Rika could think one word to describe the angel winged knight, and it's one she hardly or rarely, perhaps never uses. "Beautiful…"
Gallantmon CM flew into the portal, managing to make out the climbing Parasimon through the flow of energy provided like a bridge that led to and from both worlds. A cluster was revealed out of the energy to make it to the end, so the knight had to act fast.
"Crimson Light!" He charges Gungnir till it shines, able to give it a good toss as hard as he could once ready.
Outside a strong light shone from within, emitting energy shockwaves that travelled throughout the nest, its power doing a great job to destroy both the portal and the Parasimon army. Sakuyamon was the only Digimon left alive when it was over, on a knee in exhaustion, using her staff as a support. With their being no more Parasimon from what she could sense, the Digimon glows white then splits into Renamon and Rika, both now able to finally catch their breath
"Are you two okay?"
The dual voice of Takato and Guilmon got the duo to look up to find Gallantmon Crimson Mode descending. He lands in front of them before splitting apart into the human and Digimon that forms the knight.
"We're just peachy, thank you for asking." Rika said in sarcasm. After getting rid of one situation the two Tamers now focus on a new one. Neither had to be a genius to figure out where they were, or that their only way back home is gone thanks to Crimson Modes attack.
Takato scratches the back of his head, unsure if any form of excuse can save him from what Rika might have in store for him and Guilmon, she already has a hard glare aimed in his direction. "I… I… I have nothing. What we did was all we could think of to stop the Parasimon from getting to the Real World. I know no apology in the world can help me from whatever you have…"
"Let's go."
"Huh?" What he heard from the redhead's mouth brought confusion, not expecting that to be her response. A prediction came to mind of anger that led to a lecture on what he should have done… maybe two or three bumps to the head, not a simple "Let's go".
Takato, Guilmon and Renamon kept their eyes on Rika as she made her way to a random tunnel at ground level on the right. It didn't take long for her to realise nobody followed, so she stops to look back, hands pocketed and a brow arched. "You coming, or do you want a Digimon to turn up and make you run like there's no tomorrow? I'm sure as heck not going to wait since we don't know what might be lurking here that your attack didn't catch."
It was enough motivation for the trio to follow at a walking pace. Although the threat of the Parasimon was over and the Real World's safe, what they weren't aware of was the problem slowly happening in between the two worlds. This problem replicates to a point where travel would be a result of danger should the portal be opened again on either side, and only time may tell when that problem can be fixed.
End of Chapter 1!
I know in the Runaway Locomon movie Gallantmon CM's attack took out all the Parasimon as well as the portal, but I made a bit of a twist to this. What that twist is will be revealed in time, so for now I hope you liked the chapter. I'm aware Sakuyamon didn't use Fox Drive in the series, in this fic she does.
Also review, they help motivate me at times to get to work on the next chapter. The same goes for a Friend Made Changes All, that's been updated on 10/2/2015 for those that haven't read it yet.
