Baby Blue

Chapter Five:

After the incident at the barn and having had found who Aaron was, they went back to the base to regroup. Felicity had looked at all the findings and she discovered a few interesting things. She find out more about the Meyers.

Amy Meyers was most likely the real reason for all that was happening. Her husband was just the money man, he was the one that wrote up the proposals and did the numbers for various companies, so they could get their funding. She was the one head of the research team for biological advancements, she specialized in medicine that improved the body's physical strength, and from what she gathered most of the research was to help those that had lost their original strength. Dr. Meyers was good at breaking down the code of a medicine original makeup that could use in an alternative way with a just a bit of tweaking. She had grants to work on various projects over the years, she had managed to help with a variety of muscle defection diseases.

The Scientist had somehow gotten a hold of the Miraku or sent to her, more likely. From what Felicity could see, by Blood himself. Oliver had mentioned it, but she still could not believe it, that the involvement might include a mayor candidate.

"I hope your mother wins. She's told you already right? I hope I didn't...oh good." Oliver nodded in agreement, "Well, I found out earlier because of that time Thea took me to...never mind." Her face was completely red and grinned slightly as he had to admit she looked cute.

"What? Where did Thea take you the other day?" He was honestly interested, she did not talk too much about their shopping trip. He figured that she babble about it, whether it was to complain or just to chat, but all she ever do when it got brought up was blush.

"Um nowhere," Diggle grinned as he watched Felicity, it was nice to see her out of that somber mood from a moment ago, yet he knew they had to move on.

So he did not know if it was a mercy or not, when he inquired, "What did you find out?"

"Oh yeah, um I found that Amy Meyers was the one who was running all those labs tests on the Miraku, Blood's doing." She looked up at Oliver, "I'm sorry he turned out bad, but that's why I hope your mom wins, not that I was not hoping before..."

"I'll go talk to Laurel about it," He crossed his arms and had a thoughtful expression on his face. "See what she originally knew. How much of it was true."

"Yeah, kind of feel bad about that now." Felicity looked down at her computer.

"It's okay," he put a hand on her shoulder. "You weren't exactly wrong, neither of you." He turned to John as well. "I do have a blind spot when it comes to her."

"Yeah, so, I was right about that anagram I finally figured it out." She refrained from doing a fist pump, "I love puzzles, its kind of why I'm a hacker, computers are like a big puzzle and..."

"Felicity,"

"Do you realize you say a million different things when you say my name." Diggle just smiled knowingly.

Oliver never thought about how many times he said her name in different ways, and what they might mean, but she was right, so he simply replied, "And what I am trying to say now?"

"Get on with it, so I shall. I found out that Tricia's real name is Victoria Sinclair aka Roulette. Those hair-pins helped, you were right they were custom-made."

"Roulette?" Diggle questioned. "She wouldn't happen to be the notorious assassin, Roulette."

"Uh yeah, but retired? Do bad guys retired?" She turned back to her computer, not waiting for an answer, because there were important things on her screen, "Anyway she now runs an underground fight club. I don't think it is quiet like Brad Pitt's version, but still blowing up buildings aside, it's not good, anyway it's part of this secret Casino."

"You know her Diggle," Oliver asked as he finally took notice that Diggle was staring at the image on the screen.

"By her files only," He replied. "She was known for taken out some high-profile targets, if the price was high, I'm talking close to a million dollars, sometimes more, Oliver. And most of it was just speculation, she was good. I heard it was a relief when she decided to sit on the sidelines."

"Except?" The Arrow pried.

"She caused a lot more trouble, between the illegal casinos, putting some heavy hitters on her payroll, and when she wanted something there was always a lot of collateral, buildings or people, it didn't matter, all she cared about was money, and that really was the fortunate thing."

"Why is that lucky, I think we need to find her quick," Felicity began to type faster. "I'll have a location in couple of hours, I'm sure."

"Because people who have a cause are always more dangerous than those without one." Oliver explained, "But still, money has been the cause for a lot of destruction, and the Glades is proof that it certainly powers it. We do need to get on top this." His arms crossed as he focused on the picture of the dark-haired woman with plain brown, yet calculating eyes.

"I agree, but we need a sharp mind to deal with her. Felicity, I know you want to find Christopher's parents but..." She noted how easy for Diggle to say the name, when she was still having difficulty just thinking it. "But I think it is time to call it a night. We need to rest, I mean if she's got a couple heavy hitters possibly shot up with Miraku we can't go without a plan."

"I know, but I should at least..." Her fingers were already moving instinctively on the keyboard when Oliver put his hand over hers.

"I agree with Diggle," Even though he wanted to pursue Roulette, looking at this woman's supposed kills on the screen he knew he needed to prepare. Also, he could see it in his IT eyes, black circles, the worry. He also saw her determination and knew that she wouldn't go if he didn't push her to. She was sometimes more stubborn than he was.

"But Aar—I mean Christopher's parents, I need to...It's hard to switch over. But I suppose he looks like a Christopher to... yeah but I guess a blonde blue-eyed baby could be anything will not anything...those celebs named their kids strange things, and..."Shut up little girl, if you want to see your parents again. The memory overwhelmed her and she tried so hard not to cry.

He pulled up another chair and sat next to her, "I said you could tell me about your day." He gazed down at her. "You can tell me anything."

"I just...its hard to talk about okay...I" The tears finally fell, "I don't want to be, too late. I can't be."

"Really, something that Miss Smoake can't babble through?" Diggle teased lightly leaned against her desk and he handed her a tissue.

"Hey," She glared, "Don't mess up my system," She deleted a couple of keys that Diggle had accidentally tapped.

"Sorry girl, but you know you can tell us what's wrong, but maybe we should wait," As he looked at the clock on her computer, 1:45 am. "Come on, I'll take you guys home."

Oliver changed out of the green leather outfit into a suit. They arrived silently, and Felicity's mind wandered the entire time. Well...not really, she tried to stay away from a specific memory.

She felt strange arms around her, "Daddy," She screamed and she kicked as much as she could which was a lot for a little girl. Her brown hair flapping everywhere against the man in black. Then she felt something wet on her mouth, and then all she saw was nothing...

She jumped at his touch again, "Hey, we are here." He looked at her with deep concern. Oliver has never seen Felicity liked this and he has seen her in almost every mood he can think of. She's passionate about what they do. She's fearless against him, scolding him when she thinks he was wrong. And she was generally a happy and brilliant person. Despite, her somewhat bumbling personality, she's the wisest person he knew. Just a touch and a few words, she would had broken through the storm that had threaten to take him over, but he could not seem to return the favor, not the way she did, at least.

"Talk to me," It almost sounded like a plea, and maybe it was. She was not supposed to be this, he saw the dark walls looming over something she did not want others to find.

Felicity gazed up at him, hearing that tone. She was sure that he probably used a voice like that on Laurel several times, pleading her to forgive him or to stay the night...She stared at him for a moment. "Oliver," She could barely speak, she wanted to tell him, tell him everything, but... "The truth is... I don't like to talk about it. It's not that I don't want to share things with you. I just...not now." She shook her head, "I want to tell you...and I will, but can we schedule it for after we find Aar—Christopher's parents."

"Okay, but I will hold you to that." He stated with a small smile as he ushered her in.

They made their way up the stairs and Thea had her arms full of the blue-eyed baby, "He has cried all night." She said over the yelling child.

"I'm guessing now that he is crying you want me to take him." She teased with an eye-roll.

"Yes," she handed him gently over, "I don't know why I get the baby when its broken, when it's all cute you and mom take him, not fair."

Felicity looked over at Oliver, "I'll be in bed in a bit," She gazed up at Thea who had a finger down her throat, "to sleep...really that's it, we are really tired because we worked..."

"And I don't want to know what you and Oliver actually do at work." She held her hands in surrender. "I'm going to sleep."

"We work at my desk all night and all day." He said it as a fact, but this was a gleam of mischief in his eyes.

"Eww." Thea complained, "No more." She waved him off as she went to bed.

"Why are you saying it in those words, she thinks were," She lightly rocked the tiny baby, "You know."

"It's not my fault if her mind goes there." He chuckled a bit, "I'll see you in a bit okay."

He grinned as he watched her babble the baby to sleep. "You are fighting what you want, that's your tired cry. Why are you so stubborn? Where do you get that from, huh? I couldn't imagine anyone stubborn than..." She leaned in and whispered in the baby's ears, not very well because he replied back.

"You are more stubborn than me."

"I am not." She stated as she playfully glared at him as she continued to lightly rock the baby.

He then made his way to the room. Exhausted, he could survive on little sleep-had to once-but he still got very tired, especially when his emotions are involved.

As he was heading to his over-sized bed, he almost tripped over a pink bag.

It was completely out-of-place with the rest of the decor of his room. He did not have anything against pink, but he prefer darker colors, maybe it was because a part of him would always want to hide in the background.

Felicity, she was the one who could wear bright colors. She was like a blue moon against the night sky, its rarity contrasting against the lacking color was extremely hard to ignore. That was why it was hard to see her the way she was now. She was his strength, his light that drew away the consuming emptiness and he always hoped she would. He paused on that thought. It was overwhelming, now that he had thought on it.

Always...

But it was true, he could not see one more minute without her.

She was the one that got him off the island the second time. She was the only one he killed for, since he had given it up. There was no choice when it was between her life and any others. And if the thought before was powerful, that was more so, because that meant she was more important than Laurel. Laurel, who had been the love of his life, the thing that kept him alive on the island.

But now...

Things had changed. He not given her as much as he gave Felicity, sure he risked his life, but he did that for everyone and he had put her ahead of the team for a while; but when it came to his identity, not just that, but showing who heis, he trusted Felicity with no doubts. He had proven that when he thrown himself in the back of her car without any real thought. He knew, had always known he could put his faith in her. She was part of the team with him and Diggle, but when his former bodyguard was gone he could cope for a while the one time he could not Felicity had been the one to get them back together, but when she left for central city he...

This was too much...he needed sleep. He rubbed the back of his neck He went to throw the pink bag outside the door, figure Thea would pick it up later, but when he saw the words Victoria Secret written in gold he was absolutely horrified. He dropped the bag on the floor in mortification. Thea had bought lingerie, lingerie for her and Roy. A conversation would be coming, and that boy would be lucky to come out of that conversation with every bone intact.

He quickly went to shove the bag under the bed. If anybody saw him now, they would not know if his expression was from blushing or angry. He was not even sure as he bent to push it back.

Until he saw it...

It was a lacy.

And it was turquoise.

And not only was that not the kind of color Thea wore, nor the style, but also not her size. He knew his IT girl's size, he had to buy a dress or two for their missions. He had seen her in tight enough clothes when she had tried to workout on occasion with Sarah. But this was different, these were...

Well...

They were for Felicity to wear for him...

While they were having sex.

And his sister had bought them, he turned even redder. How was he to handle this? What's worse was his mind traveled to dark corners, no dark curvaceous turns, that he could not deny that he liked.

He shoved it quickly back in the bag and stuffed it under the bed, just as heard Felicity making her way down the long hall.

His mind could not help but race.

Thea somehow must have conned her to get them, probably a kind of revenge or chance to get pleasure out of his embarrassment.-Not that he ever let Speedy see him like that.- He never thought he feel this humiliated again. It was bad enough when he had thought they were Thea's but Felicity's...

Was this something she wanted? He did not even want to think about Thea picking those clothes out, but instead he realized his IT girl must have chosen them. What else had she picked out? It was one thing to think about her as a mother and to know that he did not want her to ever leave but...

He admit that before he never gave her appearance much thought. Lately, between this and seeing her in his shirt the other night, there was just not much more he could take. He knew she was pretty, that bright colors seemed to belong on her. He never gave it much depth thought before, if he had...well Felicity was an earthly beauty. There was nothing fake, (except her blond hair) her body was nice slender, toned, not like a model who never ate like a real person or never got dirty. Though, Laurel could easily fit that description, no there was something more to Felicity, no it was not the clothes, it was...Felicity made everything brighter around her.

But he never let those thoughts turn in his mind, not for long, anyway, but now it was so clear, almost like it was a memory. He could see her in the blue crawling on top of him, being shy, yet seductive. And how would she look in green? Emerald against her pink-tinted skin, on her back, her legs wrapped around him. The silky garment brushing against his skin and he could hear her voice. She would ramble about how she was not sure if he liked it, if she looked good and he would kiss her to silence her, to taste her.

Oh hell...

He needed to stop thinking about this and a shower, obviously...

He heard the door crack open...

"The light is still on, you couldn't sleep?" Felicity inquired.

"Yeah." He will go with that.

"I'm so tired, Aaron...he couldn't sleep either," She stepped in and she was wearing a knee-length magenta gown with black diamonds. He never took notice that her legs actually look better than he could imagine, or how he missed that shirt he saw her in the other day. "It took awhile to get him to quiet down. He'll be awake in a few hours, babies like to feed early, you know. I'm going to miss him... but it is for the best and what's that...oh" She stretched her arms, finally taken notice of that he gazed at her "Why are you..." She had caught the bright pink under the bag, "I'm going to kill your sister...well I really won't but oh no..., please tell me you did not open that bag and my dignity can stay in tact."

"I didn't." He replied, he was a Vigilant. He could hide in the night, but could not hide one stupid pink bag.

"You are worse liar than me... this is not fair, I'm just the IT girl, well I'm super awesome but still you work out...stop it. Just don't hate me," she insisted. "... please."

He could see a mix emotions on her face, she never intended for him to find the divine garments. And she was afraid, terrified, what he would think, what he would say, and he could not lie, not around her, never. He did not know what to do, he never realized how much power he had over her. He did not think he had any, or else she would never do half things she did and she certainly never go back to central city, but seeing her now...he knew...

So he just smiled a little, "I could never hate you." It was true. She smiled slightly back.

"It's your sister's fault, I would have never...I mean not never, if we were...not that we'll ever..." She began her usual babble, no doubt there was more than a few innuendos that he would have to stop. But underneath it all, he saw the underlining truth...she wanted to be...with him.

Up until these last two years, his world had been about Laurel, getting back to her. When he got back from the island, he knew he could not be with her, even desperately he wanted to. He had too much to do, and he thought that would change. He thought he would always be alone, trying to mark names off the list. Then Diggle and Felicity came, everything got a little easier. That was the first major change. He started to see things differently, even thought for a moment him and Laurel had a future. Then the Glades came, he thought there was no hope after that.

But then she came to his island. He was surprised to see Diggle as well, but Felicity jumped out of a plane, simply because she believed in, something he never thought she would do. She did a million things every day, nobody thought she could do, just because of her simple belief. That lead to his second change, a change that came mostly from his best friend's death, but also because of her faith. He took the path a way from a killer to something more.

And now it changed he never thought he love anyone the way he had loved Laurel Lance.

But she came.

And Felicity did what she always did. She came in like the sun blaring in his life, brought light to things he had forgotten were there and makes all the good in him grow anew, stronger somehow.

There was no denying it now...

He was in love with her.

But instead of talking about it. Instead of telling her, she had no reason to look so worried he simply said, "I need to take a shower, why don't you get some sleep?"

Author's Commentary:
I'm trying to finish this in a reasonable amount of time without rushing through the story, at this point we'll get close to ten chapters, at about 3,000 words each. Doesn't sound like a lot, but you be surprised. That's what like 30,000 words.

So I had some struggles with the tone of the chapter, I wanted some humor with the Lingerie scene, but keep Oliver in character. And I don't have any idea how many times I reworked that scene, I thought about tossing it, but considering I already build up to it, and I thought about putting it in another chapter, but it just wouldn't have worked with the time-line, instead I just reworked until I was half-way satisfied. I never go for fully satisfied, because when it comes to my writing that's impossible, I'm a perfectionist, so I get frustrated extremely easily and so that's why I can only meet myself half-way, my standards for myself are probably ten times higher than others. Despite the fact I been writing for years, I still only have enough belief that I'm not completely awful at it, and that sometimes I write decent things, not much higher than that.
