Epilogue

I'm walking out the back door and into the back yard. The soft breeze blows through my messy hair as I make my way through the grassy field. My eyes are glued on Steven as he is sitting down in front of some beldum with his back facing me. I hug him from behind and plant a kiss on his lips before sitting down next to him on his left. Sitting in between his legs is a baby boy with messy light, steel blue hair. He is staring at the beldum curiously with his mouth a bit open.

"How's little Aidan doing?" I ask as I smile at him.

"Very well. He is very curious about the beldum," Steven replies.

"He is, is he?" I smile at Aidan who's trying to reach out to grab one of the beldum.

"I think he's found his first pokémon," Steven says.

The beldum moves back and forth from Aidan, playing with him. I place my left hand over Steven's left hand, feeling our wedding bands glide over one another. Steven stares at my engagement and wedding rings and kisses them.

"Our son isn't going to be exposed to just steel pokémon, ya know…." I give Steven a grin.

"Steel is less dangerous than fire – just letting you know."

I laugh at his response. Steven lifts Aidan and holds him up facing us.

"He's a spitting image of you," I say as I reach out and caress Aidan's hair, causing him to smile excitedly at me.

"Let's hope he didn't inherit that hot-headed personality of his mother."

"May I remind you, that hot-headed personality is part of the reason you fell in love with me!"

Steven chuckles as he puts Aidan back down in between his legs. Aidan pulls on his father's beige shirt and pulls himself to his feet, wobbling a bit.

"We'll be leaving to Mauville early tomorrow," Steven says. "Our flight will be departing early in the morning at the Mosdeep airport."

"I still can't believe he's going to be a year old tomorrow!" I take a hold of Aidan's hand and he smiles. "We're gonna be celebrating your birthday at grandpa Jonathan's! There, you'll see grandpa Jonathan, grandpa Stone, and uncle Jason!"

"And aunt-to-be Mireha," Steven adds.

"Oh yes! My brother will be proposing to Mireha in a few days!"

"It's so funny thinking about the first time Jason and I met and to how he's asked me to be his best man for the wedding."

"Crazy how life works, huh?"

"Yes, indeed."

Steven and I kiss one another. I lean on his right shoulder as we watch Aidan stomp his little feet.

"I think he needs a sibling, Mrs. Stone," Steven whispers into my ear while smiling at Aidan.

"I think so too, Mr. Stone," I grin at him.

I hug his right arm as he chuckles.
