KH Birth by Sleep: Harumi's Quest
Chapter 18: Destiny
It was pitch black and Harumi was in her armour and on herb Keyblade Glider. She saw Terra falling down deeper into the dark abyss.
"I won't let the darkness have you, I made a promise!" She exclaimed and her voice echoed.
Harumi managed to take his hand and pull him whilst holding onto him. There was some sparkling light above them in the distance. The Keyblade Glider was slowly losing energy.
'I have to do something or we both will be stuck here!' She thought. She closed her eyes and felt Terra's body hug her. She gasped as tears fell down my cheeks.
"Terra, I love you." She whispered and suddenly she glowed. The armour stayed intact and held Terra's body. Harumi was floating and her hair danced in the wind. She looked down at her ring and sniffed. The red haired woman placed her hand on his cheek and softly kissed his lips. She took his hand and put her Keyblade in it. "I'll always be with you in your heart! Now go!"
He was swung back very fast and she looked up at him with a sad smile. She closed her blue eyes and sighed.
"Ven, I'm so sorry. I might not make it back as soon as I thought. But I will be there to wake you up." She said sinking into the darkness.
Many years later…
Harumi was walking in the darkness through this road; she walked slowly as her legs were aching painfully.
"It seems like I have been walking forever. How long have I been here?" Suddenly these enormous black monsters appeared. Her eyes widened and she looked around with Keyblade in hand. She sighed and let her weapon fade away. "Maybe, I should just fade into darkness."
There was a bright glow and 3 Keyblades appeared which sparkled in a bright light. Those Keyblades belonged to Terra, Ven and one she didn't recognise but it was white and gold and was shaped elegantly and perfectly with feathers and the Keyblade had a key chain attached to it.
The blue eyed woman looked up with her hand on her chest. They flew through the monsters defeating them; it was the power of her friends. They quickly disappeared and she smiled.
"It's been so long that I almost forgot to cry." She laughed a little. Harumi took out her wayfinder and smiled as she thought about all the people she met and know as they smiled at her; Ven, Terra, Master Eraqus, Mickey, Lavina, Lea and Hanako, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother and the Duke, Snow White, the Prince and the 7 dwarves, Aurora, Phillip and the 3 fairies, Scrooge and Merlin, Minnie and her friends, Zack, Hercules and Phil, Stitch, Peter Pan and the Lostboys, Goofy, Donald and Master Yen Sid, Kairi, Riku and Sora. Haruka looked up at her and grinned.
Lastly she saw a little girl with brown hair and strands of red hair with big blue eyes. She smiled and muttered one word which made Harumi's heart melt; mommy.
She kept walking and noticed that the wayfinder was glowing purple, her eyebrows furrowed together.
Suddenly she heard a loud bang noise and looked up to see a hole above with darkness flowing out of it.
"What is going on?" She asked. The Keyblade Master kept walking to investigate what is going on and felt something. There was a bright red light dancing around and her weapon appeared in her hand. "Who's there?!" She asked.
She stayed still and the thing threw her back. The blue eyed teen got up with Keyblade in hand and a face of determination. She shot a ball of power at the black monster shaped like a bear which made it fall to the side. It jumped over her and she looked up with wide eyes.
"This monster isn't an Unversed." She stated. "Just a dweller of darkness."
The monster was very fast and ruthless with its attacks. Its accuracy was spot on and this was a hard fight for Harumi. But she got used to fighting again and defeated it. She wondered what it was but brushed it off.
The red haired woman was walking through a dark forest. Suddenly there was a flash and she looked up as her heart stopped.
"What? Could it be?!" She asked and saw the Castle of Dreams engulfed in darkness floating above. She placed her hands on her chest and felt so much fear. She didn't know what to do and couldn't do anything.
Harumi walked and suddenly a light orb floated past her. Something flashed before her eyes.
With Riku's Keyblade a blast of darkness was charging, a blast of darkness which would hit Sora in order to release Kairi's heart. Sora's Keyblade was charging a blast of light which would finish Riku off. Haruka gasped at this. 'No…this can't be happening. If Riku hits Sora, then Sora might lose his heart or die. If Sora hits Riku, then he'll die. But if they both hit each other then…it won't end well. I can't let this happen.'
As their attacks were ready to fire, Haruka's chest was rising up and falling, she was hyperventilating really badly. 'I won't let this happen, but I can't do anything.' The attacks were released and it was slow motion. The red haired Princess of light and darkness shook her head as the tears fell down her cheeks and onto the floor. 'I feel like all of this is happening…because of me!' She looked up and her eyes widened. 'Then if it's my fault...I'll have to pay the price…I'll have to be punished…I'll have to…'
Just as both hits were going to collide someone ran in between. '…I'll sacrifice myself!' There was a massive bang and both Sora and Riku's eyes widened with disbelief and they felt their hearts crack; they killed Haruka…
She looked at her friends with a smile. "…I always wished…that us three, only us three would be together. And it seems that…my wish has come true…on my deathbed." They held her hands tighter and tears fell down her cheeks. "…You always noticed Kairi…it was as if…I was never there and…It was as if I never existed… but then…only then…you…" She looked up at Riku. "…started talking to me and making me feel as if I was special…" But then she frowned. "…But I knew that I could never replace Kairi in your lives…even though she was the one who replaced me…"
Her breathing came out in shaky and uneven breathes and she smiled as the tears kept on falling. "But now…it doesn't matter…You both can return to your normal lives with Kairi…because it doesn't matter if I die…"
"Haruka!" Sora and Riku said unison.
"…You both can return to your normal lives, as if I don't exist…" She took one of the last few breathe and a final tear was brimming in her eye. "…because I never truly existed…whenever she was there…did I?" She looked at Sora with a smile. "You'll…always be…my best friend Sora…no matter how we drifted away since you met Kairi…" The brown haired boy realised his mistake but what she said after made him regret everything he said. "You'll always be my friend…even though…you said that…"
Haruka turned to Riku with a smile and pink cheeks. "And you…you broke all your promises…but…" Her right hand reached his cheek as she cupped his face. "I'll…always…" She started to breathe very slowly. "…forgive you because…" She was closing her eyes and losing her vision. "…I…" He anticipated what she was going to say next. "…I…I'm sorry I…can't go on…it's time…" She took one final breath and her final tear fell down her cheek. "Goodbye Sora and goodbye…Riku…" Her hand left his cheek and fell to the ground. She laid there limp, cold and unresponsive; dead.
A tear fell down Harumi's cheek and then she started to scream with sorrow. The pyrefly joined the other and floated away.
The blue eyed woman stood up and declared in her mind that she was going to save her little sister. The Keyblade Master started running around, trying for the hundredth time to find a way out and leave. But she gave up and kept the pain and surrow within her.
So Harumi kept walking and then she saw someone in a black robe. She blinked and gulped. The person in the robe turned around to see her, but the Keyblade Master didn't see the person's face as it was hooded.
"Hello…" Her voice squeaked.
"Hello." The hooded girl answered back.
"What's your name?" Harumi asked curiously and the hooded girl hesitated.
"I…don't have a name." The red haired woman's eyebrows furrowed; that's strange.
"Well my name is Harumi." She stated. "Do you remember anything?" The hooded mysterious person looked down and sighed.
"No, I don't have any memories." This reminded the Keyblade wielder of Ven and she frowned.
"Oh." She felt so bad for this girl; it was as if she was lost and worse she had no memories. It was as if she had no purpose…a bit like….Vanitas.
"How did you end up here?" The girl asked and it was if a dagger stabbed through the woman's chest. A tear fell down her cheek like the first drop of rain, as she placed her hand on her slow beating heart. Harumi remembered the boy she loved and felt her heart break.
"I sacrificed myself for someone I loved." She replied. The hooded girl looked down. The Keyblade Masters thought about all the memories she shared with Terra.
"Sacrifice…" The girl said and walked away. When the woman looked up she saw the girl was gone.
Harumi shrugged and kept walking and walking on for a long time and saw a beach. She walked to the water front and saw a man in a black robe sat on a rock.
"Who are you?" She asked squinting and he turned to her.
"Why hello. It's not often I get visitors." He stated and something about his voice was familiar.
"My name is Harumi." She said. "Why are you sitting here all alone, in the realm of darkness? How did you end up here?"
"Well, I can tell you this is my second time on these shores. But unfortunately, much like the first, I do not remember who I am or whence I came. Everything was washed away in whatever currents carried me here." He explained.
"That's horrible…" She mumbled looking down with a frown. Harumi sat down on the sand and looked at the distance. "I know I've been here a long time wondering through the endless hours…unable to escape…"
"You wish to return to your own world?" He asked and she frowned looking at her ring.
"It's my friend and family. I promised I'd be there for them." She said with determination and the hooded man turned to her.
"Your friends?" He asked curiously. "Somewhere in the scraps of my memory I have left, you remind me of a boy and a girl I once knew. They are very much like you, true to their hearts and kind. They both travel many worlds, and fight to protect the light."
"Protect the light?" She looked up at him. "I've been away a very long time, did something happen out there are the worlds in danger?" She asked.
"Sad to say, they nearly fell to darkness more than once." Harumi sighed. "But at every turn, they arrived with Keyblade in hand to save the day." She gasped.
"Huh? Wait, is his name Terra or Ven?" She questioned.
"Neither of those I afraid." He shook his head and she sighed sadly.
"How long has it been since I met them? At least a year now, perhaps more…Back then my heart was clouded with vengeance. I did terrible things to both of them and their friends. I brought unhappiness to more lives than one. I felt something must be done." Harumi turned to him. "Was that why? A means to clearing my conscience or perhaps, out of a sort of scholarly instinct? Whilst the boy and girl slept in his sleep, I hid the results of my research in both of them, transplanting the data to where it might best serve a purpose. But in face I would like to believe, that the girl will set things right."
"What?" She asked as if thinking she knows who he was talking about.
"She, who has touched many hearts and is connected to many, she could open the right door, and save all those people whose lives I've managed to ruin. So many are still waiting for their new beginning, their birth by sleep. Even me… and even you. The boy is named Sora…"
Harumi smiled whilst placing her hand on her chest. "What about the girl?"
"Close your eyes." He commanded and she closed her blue eyes.
It was pitch black and suddenly there was a glow of light. There sparkled a young woman who was tall and fair. She was beautiful with red long curly hair up to her knees. Her head lifted up and she opened her eyes; bright green eyes balanced perfectly with light and dark.
Harumi opened her eyes and there was so many tears falling down her cheeks.
"Haruka, Princess of Light and Darkness." The man said.
"Ruka…" She whispered. "My sister is alive!" She exclaimed.
She looked at the same and noticed something. It shined and she dug a little sand. The young woman picked up the bracelet and noticed that it was Haruka's bracelet. The family bracelet which ran through generations but it did belong to their mother's; a gold bracelet with a red ruby, blue sapphire and green emerald.
"Red ruby for the passion, strength and courage in me, green emerald for the harmony, nature and balance in you and blue sapphire for peace, serene, and tranquil in your mother." She repeated her father's words.
She took off her bracelet which was silver; this belonged to her father. Harumi clasped them both together intertwined.
"What are you doing?" The man asked curiously. Harumi walked to the water and placed the bracelets in the water letting the waves carry it away.
"I'm sending both these bracelets away. The waves will guide them to Haruka and she will know that I am fine." She said with a smile. "Now it's your turn to find me, Haruka. I know you'll save all of us. This is your time Haruka, this is your destiny…"
This is not the end but just the beginning…
