His red eyes were dry and previous tears left damp tears trailing down his cheeks that chilled as the breeze hit. His house was a bit of a walk so he didn't rush. "I lied, I lied, I'm a filthy liar," he kept repeating in his head.
The large sheet of newspaper crimpled in the grip of Zim's gloves over his exposed green head. He hugged it tighter as the breeze tried to fight him for it. The tiny pebbles crunched under the weight of his feet each step he took. He ignored all the people he saw because he knew they would avoid him. He just lowered his head and tugged on his antennas under the newspaper hoodie.
A slight sound struck Zim's antenna that immediately attracted his attention as he took a sharp right turn towards the sounds of clapping, cheering, and a voice he was oh so familiar with.
He hid in the alleyways trailing up to his destination. Peeking out of one, is where he saw a large crowd of people; some he knew from Skool, others he didn't, tilting their heads out to the large stage on a nearby grassland with purple curtains with a clearly noticed projection screen . It was Dib they were giving their praise to. He was standing at a podium at the close front of the stage full of confidence, green and pink star-shaped key chains dangled down from the side hook of his pants. It was something Zim had never noticed.
"Now as all of you know, I, Dib, have been responsible for all of this town's paranormal findings solo handedly." He stated. The clicker was held firmly in his left hand, pressing the green button with his thumb and displayed an image on the screen the fascinated his impressed audience. "Sasquatch stealing Gaz's leftover pizza in the fridge; which she beat me up for. Vampire gerbils found in Mr. Elliot's class, which Gaz beat me up for that too, and zombies roaming the mall parking lot. Yes Gaz beat me up for that too,"
Dib showed the crowd each discovery he made. The crowd oohed and awed at the sightings. Zim as well.
"Wow, Dib's amazing!" he whispered to himself.
"Who's amazing?" the ghost girl startled him from behind to the point where he was practically jumping out of his green skin. "You know him?"
"Danielle!? What are you doing here? Please I don't mean to be rude or anything but, ah, what am I saying. I was the one who was being rude by storming back here," Zim looked down, sighed, and looked back up. "That's my friend Dib!" He pointed to Dib up at the podium.
"Zim, I hope you're not upset about all of that back in Retroville, Spongebob's a jerk an-"
"DON'T SAY THAT!" Zim quietly yelled. "I guess you could say he got all that pressure of pretending to be human off my chest. He's my best friend! And…..!" Zim calmed don't and breathed softly. "And I'm grateful for that,"
Dani turned and rolled her eyes, which had turned into a bright red color a slight second. She huffed and grabbed her chest.
"Zim, tell me, where do you live. Where do you keep your weapons? It will be helpful for the mission,"
"How? Weapons only cause destruction,"
"It will benefit Sam and Spongebob, I promise," She gritted her teeth.
"Oh ok then! I live a few blocks down that way in a little green house," He smiled.
Dani fell to her knees; one hand on the ground and one holding her chest. Her eyes were tightly shut and she breathed heavily. Zim knelt down by her. "Danielle! Are you ok?!"
A red aura formed around her. Energy released in the form of a human body. Possession was what it was. He abandoned the haunted female body and dropped her to the ground with no signs of life.
"DANIELLE!" Zim dropped to his knees and looked at her. Dani's look alike lifted his chin with the tip of his finger.
"Danny.." Zim whispered hardly audible.
"A happy alien boy who would give up his pacifistic ways to protect his human crush and a selfish sponge who has hated you ever since he first laid his eyes on you," Danny chuckled. "You're strong. Tell you what. Since Amity Park's done the way I like it, after I "properly dispose" all those who could possibly stop me in Retroville, I'll use your weapons to destroy Bikini Bottom, and save your rat hole of a town for last. Deal?"
Danny chuckled again. Zim started tearing. Danny's snowy hair flipped as he turned to the direction of Zim's house. He flew off. Passing Dib's announcement ceremony, he swung and kicked the screen and bright purple curtains sending them to Dib's many now screaming and running fans. "Thanks again!"
"Wait! Everyone! Come back! I'm going to capture it!" Dib whispered to his pink and green star-shaped key chains hanging down from one of the belt loops on his pants. "Guys, I wish I had…."
"DIB HELP! PLEASE!" Zim called to him.
"You're kidding me, why? Just why?" Dib mumbled to his key chains.
"Cool! He's green!" The green one spoke out.
"Yeah, that's because he's an alien invader planning on destroying the whole planet Earth,"
Dib glared at him. Zim was still on his knees shaking the young girl trying to bring her back to life; all while using him pink sleeve to wipe away the salty tears that dripped one after another like a faucet.
"Um are you sure?" the pink one spoke confused. "Maybe you should help him. That girl he's with looks hurt,"
"Sure, that's probably just a game he's playing and that girl…. looks like….a ghost?!" Dib charged at the scene.
"Oh Dib! It's horrible! That ghost Danny, he, he.." Zim sniffled.
Dib placed his ear to her chest. "Well, she's breathing," he concluded. "Wait, but she's a ghost. Why would it matter?" he asked out loud to himself. Shaking his head, "Cosmo, Wanda, I wish…"
"Dib are you talking to yourself again?" Zim interrupted while wiping his bright red eyes.
"I was just saying… I…. wish this girl was wake up," Dib shot a glance down at his two hidden companions. Yellow lights gleamed from its source. Eyelids unrivaled like blinds and neon green rings were revealed underneath. "Z-Zim?" The rings shifted toward the large-headed male on her opposite side.
Almost instantaneously, she sprang up from her position. "Who are you and where are we? Speak now!" She was in a defensive position forming a green ball of ectoplasm in between her hands targeting at the stranger.
"Woah! Dib are you physic or something?! It's like you wished for her to wake up and BOOM she woke up!" Zim, now perky and excited, stated cheerfully.
Deactivating her beam, Dani asked. "Wait. Zim you know him?"
"Of course! We're best friends!" Zim hugged Dib for about 2 seconds until Dib pushed him away. "Danielle, you're in our town, Danny took over you and is now on his way to my house for weapons! We need to go after him now!"
"Oh, yeah because this town isn't being invaded by an evil monster already,"
"Really?! Who?!" Zim asked concerned.
"Nevermind," Dib rolled his eyes. Dani giggled. "Anyway, there's no way we can stop him singlehandedly. I still feel a little weak and fighting my own cousin doesn't seem right," She sighed.
"It's ok Danielle, I don't like fighting either. Having everyone's help in Retroville change him back is probably our best bet." Zim smiled.
"I'm sure this all ties in with why Zim's an even bigger delinquent than usual, so I'll join both of you paranormal creatures to put a stop to all this," Dib announced. "And maybe I'll be known as a hero for saving the city!" he whispered to himself. "Ok so Retroville is it?"
"Yep! I was thinking we can use your portal like we used before," Zim said.
"I have a faster way. I wish we were in Retroville!"
"You're using your physic powers again!" Zim observed.
The same yellow lights gleamed and a cloud of purple signified the disappearance of the three heroes.
