Chapter 4 – The Sun

Clary carefully climbed through the window, taking her sketchbook with her. She scooted over to the still cold brick wall, leaning on it as she laid her sketchbook on her thighs. She watched as the sky illuminated with bright splotches of orange and red, brightening the sky. Sunrise. She sighed when she felt the warm rays of the sun touch her body as the sun peeked out. She looked at the view one last time before grabbing her colored pencils and sketching what she saw. Each ray of light became a line that was to be shaded when she had the basic outline done. She grabbed an oil pastel out of her pencil bag tracing the lines then smearing them with her finger. When she was done she looked at her picture proudly and when she glanced at the gold rays she thought of her sun, Jace. The sun was like him, gold and warm and strong. She loved the sun. She placed her pencils and pastels back in her bag, setting them down in her lap. She closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the warming brick wall. And let the sun warm her as her thoughts ran wild about Jace. She didn't even open her eyes when she heard foot steps approaching her on the roof for she already knew who it was. She felt him sit next to her, copying her position. Still keeping her eyes shut she placed her head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around her. He placed his chin atop her head letting out a loving sigh.

"Feels good."

"Yes it does."

"You always come out her when the sun comes up?"

"Mostly."

"Well it does warm you up, I'll give you that."

Jace was just like the sun, warming her by just one touch. It's like he was his own sun, always warm. She snuggled closer to his chest loving the way he felt. His hand left her as he took the sketch book out of her lap. He flipped to the last page seeing her sunset.

"You are so talented it's ridiculous."

"Oh please I'm not that good."

"Oh yes you are. You work magic with colors."

"Thanks."

She opened her luminous green eyes as she looked up at me. The way the rays of light hit her made her look like she was glowing, like an angel, my angel.

"You should teach me."

"What how to draw?"

"Ya, I've always wished I could draw, you should give me a few lessons."

"Well if I teach you then you have to teach me how to play the piano."

"How did you know I played piano?"

"When I was in your room I saw sheet music in your book shelf and I saw what looked like a grand piano in the room down the hall."

"Sneaky."

"No just observant."

"You know I haven't played in years."

"Well I've never played so no harm no foul."

"Ok deal, you teach me how to draw and I teach you how to play."

"I can't wait for my first lesson."

"You know I could teach you some other things."

"Oh ya like what?"

"Maybe when sex is on the table I can show you."

"Oh ok, if it ever is on the table."

"Oh I will make it on the table."

"Okay you keep trying."

"Don't worry I'm very persistent."

"I don't doubt that."

I listened carefully to the steady beat of his chest. I had the urge to draw him like I had the other night but I've come to discover I couldn't draw him. The angles or the face or the hair was always off in some way. I got very frustrated when I attempted to draw him for I had never been able to not draw something or someone. I don't know what it was about him but it was like he was to perfect to be drawn. I lifted myself, sitting in between Jace's legs. I grabbed my sketch book and put it in his hand. I also grabbed a pencil and placed it in his other hand. He placed his chin on my shoulder, giving me a questioning look.

"Draw what you see."

"Ah so this is my first lesson."

"Yep, so draw away."

"Alright."

I watched as he looked at the sky, memorizing its details. He then slowly put the pencil to paper and began drawing lines of what he saw. It was quite mesmerizing, watching him draw. His small flick of the wrist at the end of each line, watching him go from sky to paper, back and forth. When he was done he held up the sketchbook for me to critique. I had to say, he wasn't that bad. Even without color his lines were impressive.

"You may not need that many lessons, you're already pretty good!"

"Ya but that's a sun. You don't even want to see what my drawings of you look like."

"You draw me?"

"Try to. You'd probably be blinded by the horribleness."

"I'm sure they're not that bad."

"What can I say, you just can't draw perfection."

"Don't I know it! Do you know how many times I've tried to draw you? I can never get your face right."

"Well maybe we are both just to perfect to be on paper."

"I am in no way perfect."

"You may not see it but I do. You are an angel in my book."

"Well when I see a God I'll come get you so you two can live happily ever after."

"I think I'm fine with my angel."

"Your angel?"

"Oh ya I got the paper work and everything."

"You do not own me Jace Wayland."

"Ah it was worth a shot."

I laid back, relaxing into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into him as he buried his head in the crook of my neck. I could feel his steady heartbeat on my back as he lightly pecked my neck. I started to giggle as he kissed circles around my ticklish spots. Then he lightly bit down right behind my ear. I yelped and squirmed in his arms as he laughed, pulling me closer to him as he nibbled all over my neck, tickling me more. I tried to wiggle out of his tickling fest but Jace was much stronger than me. His long, strong arms held me into his chest as we both exploded with laughter. I didn't come out of my tickling fog till I heard the sound of something skidding down the roof. When I opened my eyes I saw my sketch book close to the edge of the roof, still moving. Jace came to, when I stopped laughing and immediately released his grip. I dove for my sketch book, skinning my arms on the harsh roof as Jace slid after me. I felt my body slide off the roof as something caught my ankle. I saw my sketchbook dangling in my hand as I hung off the roof. I felt something pull on my ankle as my body started to pull back. I glanced up to see Jace pulling me by my ankle back onto the roof. When I was fully on the roof, Jace pulled me into his chest, hugging me tightly.

"My god red what do you have a death wish. You know you could have let it fall. I even would have gotten it for you."

"Ya probably shouldn't have done that."

"You know you have almost died on this roof twice now in what like 3 days?"

"Well technically its one fall for the roof, one in the tree."

"Must you always be so technical?"

"Technical? I just jumped off a roof."

"And I just caught you, thank god I was here."

"Ya that wouldn't have felt good."

I was still in his lap, with his arms draped around me. He pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear forcing me to meet his eyes. When I looked into his golden orbs all I saw was protection and love. He cupped my face gently looking at me like he could see right through me.

"Please stop jumping off roofs. It's not safe and I couldn't imagine seeing you hurt."

"Ok."

"Ok?"

"Yes. I promise to stop putting myself in imminent danger."

"Good."

He gently pulled me towards him, kissing me lightly. I placed my hands on his neck, playing with his hair. He pulled me closer to him.

"You will be the death of me one day."

"Future plans? But we just met a couple days ago!" she says sarcastically.

"You haven't complained yet so I'm just gonna roll with it."

"Like a rock would."

"Ha ha you're so funny."

He kissed me lightly pecking all over my face.

"Stop it that tickles!"

He gripped my shoulders tightly also eyeing the sketchbook that was in between us, making sure it stayed there. He suddenly pulled back like he had an idea but when his eyes met mine all I saw was confusion.

"What?"

"Why did you nearly kill yourself over a sketchbook?"

"Why does there have to be a why?"

"Because not everyone risks there lives for a sketchbook."

"Adrenalin?"

Her shoulders raised questioningly.

"Aha nice try, but no try again."

"I don't know."

"Yes you do you just won't tell me."

"Not true!"

"Then tell me."

"Ugh you just wouldn't get it."

"Try me."

"Umm, you see I've had that sketch book FOREVER. Through every piece of my life I have sketched in it, from 5 years old to 17."

"You could sketch when you were five?"

"Three actually and stop interrupting if you want to hear the story!"

He held his hands up signaling surrender. I took a deep breath and continued.

"That book has been my life line. When ever I get sad or angry or even happy, it's the first thing I go to. It's like my diary accept I don't write I just draw. All my most personal thoughts and ideas lie in that book, that's why I hardly let anyone see it even my mom or Luke. It's like a part of me that I can't loose, ever."

"Do I get to see it."

"No way."

"Oh why not!?"

"Did you not just listen to my banter about how personal this thing is!"

"So your most personal/special thing in the world is on my crotch."

I urgently looked down as red filled my cheeks. I quickly snatched the sketch book from his 'area', squeezing it to my chest. He laughed as I glared at him, the red not leaving my cheeks.

"Oh red why so red!"

I glared harder at him as he just smiled that sarcastic little smile, then I got an idea, pay back.

"What's wrong with a little red?"

Suddenly her glare softened into to something, sexual? Is that lust I see? I laughed awkwardly as she pushed my body down onto the roof with her body above me. Her arm was propped up, holding her weight as her other arm traced down my side. Heat radiated where her fingers touched wishing she would touch more. Her hand got lower as she smirked a flirtatious smile at me. My eyes shifted from hers to her hand as it got lower and lower. Once her fingers reached my waist band she traced small circles around the edge of my jeans. I could feel my body radiating heat just from her touch as her fingers hovered over my crotch.

"Uh Clary.. What ya doin.?"

Then I felt it, her fingers ghosted over my very hard member. I hissed out a breath as her fingers caressed it. Arousal flooded every inch of my body as she drew circles around my very tight jeans. Then she gripped it hard. I couldn't hold back the moan from my throat as my eyes quickly shut from the feeling of her hands around my member. I could feel her bring her body closer to mine as she pressed her chest to mine. She breathed onto my neck kissing it once before moving up to my ear to whisper.

"Why so red, goldie?"

Then suddenly her warmth was gone and I could hear her window shutting. My eyes quickly opened to see her waving at me with an evil smirk on her face through the closed window before shutting her curtains. I looked down to see my still very uncomfortably tight jeans as I slammed my head back on the roof. I closed my eyes gently trying to calm my staggered breaths. A smile came across my lips as I shook my head softly.

"Okay you win this round little red. But I'll get you next time. You can be sure of that!"

And with that I grudgingly pushed myself off the roof making my way through the tree to my roof. I smirked one last time at her window before opening mine, climbing in and closing it, shutting the curtains just as she had.
