My first fan-fiction, hard to believe it's over. Here's the epilogue guys thanks for sticking with me through out this journey. I really love you people.
2 years later:
"Merlin! Get up boy!" Gaius burst into his wards room, well after today his former wards room. "You'll be late for your own ceremony!"
Merlin groaned and buried his face in his pillow. How could he forget? It had been a few weeks since the bill had been finalized and magic had been considered legal in Camelot. Of course he had been over the moon, finally he didn't have to hide anymore! But that was nothing compared to what Arthur had asked him to do next;
"Merlin." Arthur had beckoned him over to his desk by, how else, throwing a pillow at his head.
"Prat." Merlin muttered as he picked up the pillow and came over to the King.
"I wanted to ask you something." Arthur said leaning forward. "I was wondering, well when I get this all figured out." He gestured to the mess of parchment around him "If you would like to me my advisor on the subject."
"I already am your advisor on the subject." Merlin had said rolling his eyes.
"I mean officially." Arthur clarified and then upon seeing his servant's blank expression he said, "I was wondering if you'd like to be my Court Sorcerer?" The King peered up at him.
Merlin almost collapsed, he couldn't force a sound out of his throat, and it was all he could do to nod weekly.
And now that day was here. Silently he got dressed in what would become his official attire. Thankfully there was no pointed hat although Arthur had teased him about getting one. It consisted of a silver, high collared shirt, knee high black boots, black trousers and most spectacularly a dark blue cape that swept around his feet, and had the gold Pendragon crest stitched into it.
A few hours later Merlin was kneeling before Arthur in front of all the knights, servants and council members some of whom were whispering nervously among themselves. Probably still wary of magic.
"Do you Merlin Emrys swear to uphold the laws of Camelot by not practicing in dark, or otherwise harmful magic?"
"I do." Merlin croaked
Arthur smiled down at his nervous ex-servant and thought reassurances.
'It's okay Merlin. It'll be over soon, don't be a girl.'
'I'm not acting like a girl, get on with it! …Please?'
Arthur allowed himself a small chuckle. "Do you Merlin Emrys swear to protect Camelot and all of her inhabitants.'
Merlin gave him a look that plainly said why did you even need to ask me that Clot Pole? Then said "I do."
Then I pronounce you, Merlin, Court Sorcerer to the crown.
Everyone cheered and Merlin had never been happier in his life
Fin.
