Here is the final chapter to this story. I hope you loved it as much as i did. Also it ended up dragging out to about 3,000 words so i hope you like the good chunk of Gironatsu literacy. Dont forget to check out my other stories if you loved this one. Nella out!
"I think it's time we went home." Natsumi walked down the hidden tunnels one last time to return to the shower she had left her clothes in. She let Giroro stand and wait outside while she re-dressed. Then they made their way to the bedroom they slept in and gathered the rest of her things including her collar. She carried her hair ties in her pocket and her bloodied shirt was bundled under her arm. She turned the device in her hands as they walked away from the mansion (Giroro now being strong enough to walk on his own traveled by her side).
A little bit of blood was still crusted over the alien technology. Natsumi scratched away as much as she could. She would have to give it to Kururu to have it fixed. The idea reminded her that she still had to have it resized. Blush flooded her cheeks.
"Hey Giroro?" Natsumi spoke sheepishly.
"Yes Natsumi?" Giroro responded curious to know what she was thinking about that made her suddenly shy.
"Do you think you could take my new measurements? I need my suit remade because I grew in some places and I really don't want Kururu getting creepy on me." She almost had the urge to hide her bright face when she saw Giroro blushing as well.
"Uh- Sure." Giroro continued to walk but found that he had lost a bit of balance as he wobbled slightly from side to side. He got lost in his mind, imagining being able to see and know the exact measurements of Natsumi's seductive curves.
"You don't have to if it'll make you uncomfortable." Natsumi quickly excused him from the task worried that he felt awkward enough as it was.
"It's fine. I would rather it be me than anyone else. I just hope I can keep myself in line." Giroro muttered the last bit to himself.
"What do you mean by that?" Natsumi asked.
"IRK! I-It's just that… You know what it's nothing." Giroro began walking faster as blush once again swarmed his face. Natsumi griped his shoulder, turned him around, and knelt down in front of him. She made sure that their eyes connected.
"I know there are some things you need to keep secret. It's your right, but I need you to promise me that it won't boil into what we just went through." Natsumi's eyes looked into Giroro's as she stroked his cheek. Giroro placed a hand over hers, feeling her loving touch.
"Natsumi, I will never put you through that ever again." He turned his eyes away from her feeling guilty again for doing it to her already. "I hate myself for making you cry."
"I don't." Natsumi pressed her head against his, nuzzling him. "Because if we didn't go through this I would never have learned that I love you."
"You're too kind Natsumi." Giroro closed his eyes as he returned the affectionate gesture.
"So what did you mean by keeping yourself in line?" Natsumi pulled her head up and looked at him with curiosity. She had a hunch, but this was Giroro. In her mind Giroro wasn't interested in perverted things like that, then again she never believed he would have fallen in love with her either. Giroro exploded with fumes of embarrassment. He didn't know if he should tell her how attractive she was to him or not. He looked back at the damage he caused and decided to just tell her; even if he wasn't going to go beast over sexual urges.
"It's just that you're… so pretty and uh…" He forced himself to swallow most of his embarrassment down his dry throat. "Some parts of you are just really … I think the pekoponian term is provocative. Sometimes it's too much for me- I tried not to think of you like that- I'm Sorry! You have the right to hit me!"
He cringed expecting her to react violently. To his surprise she just blushed in return.
"You really, think of me like that? Am I so attractive I can charm aliens?" Natsumi curled a hand in front of her face as if to hide her pink cheeks.
"Wait, you're not going to hit me?" Giroro was confused by the lack of a well-deserved slap.
"Well, if it were anyone else I would find it creepy but… I was actually kind of wondering what you thought about my looks. You know you're an alien and probably more attracted to a completely different body shape. I mean it is every woman's secret desire to be loved like that- NOT that I'm perverted! Oh gosh. I'm sorry if I teased you or anything." Natsumi burned a brighter pink becoming just as flustered as Giroro. "I think we should get home soon."
"I agree." Giroro replied as he and Natsumi separated and began walking once again. "Also don't apologize. It might sound inappropriate but I kind of enjoyed every bit of it, even if it was an accident. Just tell me you don't think I'm a creep."
"You are the farthest thing from creepy that I have ever met." Natsumi giggled. Giroro gave a small chuckle as he released his breath.
"Thanks."
After getting lost around a few wrong turns, Natsumi and Giroro eventually reached the street in which the Hinata house sat.
"Finally! I never knew how far Momoka's house was. I can't believe she rides through that every morning." Natsumi exclaimed happy to find more familiar surroundings. "I wonder if Kururu fixed those broken streets yet."
"Again, I'm sorry for causing you so mu-AAAAGGGGHHHHH!" Giroro's scream began fading away. Natsumi turned to find he had fallen down a large tunnel in the road. She recognized the alien metal as the one Kururu regularly used and jumped in after him.
"Giroro!" She slid down the tube making sure not to drop her shirt and collar. Soon a light began reflecting off of the surface and revealed an opening at the end as the tube curled upwards slightly. Natsumi followed through with the motion and leapt up and out. She then landed perfectly on her feet and took in the surroundings. She found herself in Kururu's lab by the looks of wires seemingly growing over the floor and ceiling; but what surprised her was that strapped against the far wall, inside of a glass box, hung her Giroro. Not too far off to the side was Kururu sitting in his chair typing away at his computer. "What the hell do you think you're doing?! Don't you think he's been through enough?!"
"Kuku, well communications cut out last night and we weren't sure if he had gotten better or not. I was forced to set my systems to trap him as soon as his energy got close to the house. It's protocol when a soldier goes berserk. I was happy to comply with the capturing of course ku~" His hands stopped above the keys as a loading bar appeared on the screen. "I've just taken a blood sample. The results of what exactly happened should be done shortly."
Beep! Kururu began to read over the results as Natsumi decided to kneel by the glass 'coffin'.
"You ok?" She asked looking at Giroro who had gotten over the shock of falling through a tunnel and being trapped to the wall.
"I'm fine. I think its best anyway that way if it happens again it might be preventable." Giroro's voice echoed to himself inside the box, but still managed to reach the girl on the other side.
"Where is everyone else?" Natsumi asked taking a look around and realizing that at least Pururu should have been there with them.
"They're all on the other side of the door. Protocol calls for the doors to be closed and locked when detaining and studying an unstable subject." Kururu answered as he began to translate the results in his head.
"I'm not unstable!" Giroro shouted at the yellow frog. He pulled at his restraints.
"And yet you're trying to escape so you can punch me aren't you? KU~"
"That's because you're a jerk! Do I even need to have my hands tied to the wall?!" Giroro yelled.
"Not really but it's more fun. Kuku, besides if you keep this up I can convince headquarters to lock you inside one of the best prisons to supposedly protect everyone else. So I wouldn't be causing trouble if I were you." Kururu turned his chair to face them.
"You're only doing this because it'll piss him off." Natsumi said crossing her arms and aiming her angry eyes at him. "Besides I can pulverize you for him."
"By all means then, pulverize me. KU~" Kururu's creepy grim spread across his face. Natsumi felt a slight shiver through her spine.
"Never mind, just hurry up and do your stupid science." Natsumi huffed.
"I've already figured it out because I'm a genius. He contracted a disease that hasn't been seen in at least eighty years. Everyone thought it was extinct. It's known as The Shadow Suffering when translated to pekoponian. It completely mutilates and transforms the DNA of the host but only under certain conditions. In Giroro's case it's when he gets depressed or angry, becoming the point of no return. Scientists used to keep patients locked up in hopes to figure it out and solve the equation because it was always different. The hard part about the research was that the disease couldn't be transferred to other hosts like test rats because it was only targeted people with a certain genetic trait."
"You say targeted like the thing has a mind of its own and can choose who to infect." Natsumi said raising an eyebrow.
"That's because it didn't infect everyone with the trait, the studies weren't able to figure out why either. The main theory was that it traveled around in the air and even in the void of space. Some thought it was a sort of life form that fed off of the unknown substance and changed the host to fit its needs. I've even developed a few theories myself in my spare time. In most cases it was genetic but it wouldn't always be consistent because it would even infect people that had no predictable chance of having it. There isn't a history of it ever existing near Pekopon, so he must have been carrying it since before we left Keron. Ku~ Even though it was eighty years ago I get the chance that most scientists crave; I get to solve the puzzle."
"You are most certainly not subjecting him to your stupid tests! Besides does it look like he's infected now?!" She gestured to the red toad.
"He might not look like it but his blood says otherwise. Parts of it are still mutated so he could change back at any moment so far as I'm concerned."
"Natsumi, its fine." Giroro spoke catching her attention.
"No it's not." Natsumi huffed not budging from her stand point in the argument.
"If what Kururu says is true then I could still be a danger to you. I want him to figure it out and cure me." Giroro looked at her. His serious eyes told Natsumi that he wasn't going to listen to her and that he needed to go through with it.
"But who knows how long it will take? Even Kururu doesn't completely understand it." Natsumi spoke in defense of her opinion as worry crept into her voice and eyes.
"You're always so worried about me." Giroro chuckled lightly.
"It's because I love you." Natsumi smiled warmly.
"Oh dear, it looks like the author is getting emotional again." Kururu noted to himself. "The tests won't take long since I have access to modern technology. Also my IQ is at least three times more than the scientists who performed the original studies. Kukuu~ Although I do have to acknowledge that it may have mutated since it was last studied and won't exactly follow the old results."
"Well, I am going to sit right here until it's all done." Natsumi said taking a more comfortable position as she crossed her legs.
Kururu proceeded to test with the sample he already acquired. Many minutes had passed turning into hours. What seemed like an entire afternoon was only three and a half hours of Kururu typing on his computer and asking Giroro questions; such as his actions before leaving Keron and what his goals in life are.
"Why do you need to know that?" Giroro replied blushing slightly.
"Because you have been carrying it for a while and it may have adjusted itself to act upon your needs along with their own. I'm gonna take a wild guess that you accomplished something while you two were away. Otherwise you would still be out there tearing up the town. Ku."
"W-well… I uh did accomplish something yes." Giroro responded.
"What was it?" Kururu could see that Giroro didn't want to talk about it and now really wanted to know.
"N-nothing. It was nothing."
"It couldn't be nothing. Ku~ I wonder what you and Natsumi did to change you back. I can definitely assume it wasn't to invade." Kururu chuckled as he slowly pinpointed Giroro's main weakness. "There's only one other thing it could be if not to invade her planet. KU~~"
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" Natsumi and Giroro shouted simultaneously as they blushed.
"So it looks like you did fall in love over there. Well this won't go over well with Keronian authorities; but who cares? I love the trouble this will cause."
"I don't care." Giroro gruffly stated closing his eyes. Natsumi and Kururu turned to him. "I don't care if they call off the invasion, I don't care if they strip me of my rank and throw me in jail, and I sure as hell don't care if they banish me from the planet! I'll give up everything to protect Natsumi."
"It's ironic how the one who came here full of pride is ready to give up everything he was proud of for one girl." Kururu stated before pressing a single key on his keyboard. Soon the glass box swung away from the wall and the restraints released Giroro, letting him drop a couple of inches to the floor. "You're cured. You're blood started returning to normal with each sample I took. Also I don't see any way it could happen again unless her life becomes endangered."
"DON'T EVEN SUGGEST THAT!" Giroro clenched his fists at one of the only fears he had left. He couldn't dare to imagine it.
"Giroro I'm going to be fine. I have you." Natsumi grabbed his hand and tried to sooth him.
"But what if I can't help you? What if something happens and I'm not there?" Giroro rubbed his head trying to purge the ideas.
"You have to remember that I'm a tough girl and can take care of myself. I'm just as strong as you are." Natsumi winked. Giroro smiled as he felt the waves of fear subside.
"About headquarters, I'll send in a different report explaining why you changed and how you got better." Kururu began to type away at his computer again.
"Thank you Kururu."
"Whatever. Now get your mush out of my lab."
"Oh before I forget." Natsumi handed her collar to Kururu. "Can you fix it for me?"
"Kukuu I need your measurements." Kururu
"Giroro will give them to you later."
As Natsumi and Giroro approached the door it slid open to reveal the group waiting outside. They had been sitting against the wall on the floor.
"GIRORO! You're back!" Keroro jumped up at the sight of his old friend. The others followed and started to pretty much crowd the couple. Everyone was there; Keroro, Tamama, Dororo, Koyuki, Fuyuki, Momoka, Mois, and Saburo. Even Aki was there.
"Are you feeling better Corporal?"
"How did you get him back to normal Natsumi?"
"What exactly happened Sis?"
"You could say Beauty and the Beast?"
"Calm down everyone. Let's all go upstairs and have lunch. I'm sure Natsumi and Giroro will eventually tell the story." Aki herded the group away from them. Natsumi and Giroro began to walk down the halls as the others grew further and further from them.
"You know they're going to pester us until we tell them every little detail." Natsumi said blushing slightly. "Especially our confessions to each other."
"I'm sure they might already know." Giroro admitted.
"What makes you think that?"
"Well they already knew about my feelings for you." Giroro blushed.
"Was I the only one out of the loop?"
"Pretty much."
"I feel like an idiot now." Natsumi smiled in embarrassment.
"The only reason you didn't know is because everyone was kind enough to give me the chance to do it myself. They also know not to upset a guy with a lot of guns." Giroro chuckled as Natsumi giggled.
"I guess that's why everyone seemed a little awkward when I was trying to figure out what upset you so much. You know the fact that you love me explains a lot now. I used to think that maybe you were just a bit of a spaz or had some sort of medical condition."
"Well gee, thanks."
"I like this reason a lot better though." Natsumi bent down and grabbed his hand. They walked down the halls blushing and holding each other's hand.
"I love you Natsumi."
"I love you too Giroro."
