Frozen Hearts

Chapter 33- Epilogue

31st December 2014

Loud music was playing in the background as the guests gathered in the ballroom. This was a party filled with friends, and families, missing one in the form of Duke Weselton, who had been dead for many months now. There were many old faces of course like Kai and Gerda and the employees of Arendelle Company, along with some new ones like Kristoff's grandmother Bulda and his best friend Olaf. His faithful dog Sven was also around here somewhere since he was counted as one of the member of Kristoff's family.

It had been a rough year for all of them, but Elsa was happy that everything turned out alright at last. The bank loan was paid and the Kingsleys won the auction. Arendelle was returned to its original owners. Elsa was still learning how to run a huge business like this without any fear or any feeling of insecurity. It was a huge responsibility to rebuild a broken empire but fortunately she was not alone. Anna was with her always. Her hand was in hers as she reopened the gate of Arendelle Company. She advised her when she was in trouble, and most of the time they worked well. She sometimes heard people comparing her with her father, but Elsa knew she was nothing without Anna's continuous support. Whenever she looked at her sister, her confident smile, she saw a successful business woman in future.

Anna and Kristoff were busy on the dance floor—well Anna was busy while Kristoff was struggling to keep up with the steps, while she giggled at him. She was ecstatic with Kristoff's decision to stay in Florida with her. Elsa, for her part, had taken to the balcony beneath the moon and the stars.

One hour until the midnight. And the world was going to welcome another year.

"I thought I might find you out here," came Hans' voice.

Elsa smiled as she felt him come up behind her, flush to her back, and wrap his arms around her stomach, resting his chin on her shoulder. After restarting the company, Elsa gave him the department of public relationship and advertisement under Anna's supervision. He had been moving home and abroad signing contracts with other companies and restoring Arendelle's reputation. It was not as easy task since the company faced a huge loss only a few months ago. Anna was skeptical about appointing Hans for this important job, while the employees of Arendelle doubted about his intention. But he was working hard to restore his reputation. He managed to resume their trade with most of their old business partners, even with The Southern Isles. They were currently working on a ice hotel project in Quebec. It was a huge step for the company, even Anna had to give positive report about Hans' performance. It worked better this time around and most of the employees began to accept Hans.

"I am so glad that Kristoff decides to move in to Florida." Elsa said looking at Anna dancing with Kristoff, "Anna was so upset when he went back to Alaska last month."

"I know." Hans said in a slightly nostalgic tone. He could still remember the night when he said her goodbye for another seven years. He often wondered how his life would be if he stopped her that day. Maybe he would not turn into the monster he had been. Fortunately he found her again, and she saved him from his certain doom.

"I think it is a very good decision." He said, following Elsa's eyes, watching the happy couple dance. The dance ended with Kristoff dipping Anna low and finally kissing her lips. Elsa blushed at the sight.

"They look so perfect together." She sighed, looking away.

Hans chuckled. Elsa was still too conservative about displaying affection in public. In their case, Elsa decided to rebuild their relationship again. It was not an easy task, not after what happened between them. First few months they only exchanged a few words only out of formality. They held hands another month later. And Elsa let him kiss her only a week ago.

It might sound a bit weird, especially for Hans who was famous for whirlwind affairs. It was a new experience for him. Most of his relationship ended up in sex in the third or fourth date. Even he used his charm when he faked his love for Elsa. How many times he resisted himself from taking her to his bed, to rip her clothes apart and make love to her. He was surprised with himself the way he was trying his patience. It was like a longing he never felt before.

"Yes, he is very protective about her." He agreed, kissing her temple. He was really happy that Anna finally found her perfect match. He adored her ability to forgive people so easily. But he respected the woman who loved him despite everything he did to her. His heart filled with gratitude as he looked into her beautiful eyes, and whispered, "But you deserve someone better than me."

Her skin tingled with his touch, but she tried to protest weakly, "But…"

Hans muffled her protest with his finger on her lips and pulled her down in his arms. "And I am so grateful that you chose me. You are the best thing happened in my life."

Elsa could not say anything. She lifted her head and looked into his gorgeous emerald eyes. They were so tender and full of love for her. She smiled at that, but she was remembering other things. She remembered the day they first met, she remembered the kisses they shared. She remembered the passion, she remembered the betrayal, she remembered the regret. She remembered the pain, she remembered the joy. They drifted apart by fate many times, she lost her trust in him, but she never forgot her love for him. She knew he felt the same, even when he was faking. She knew she was not wrong, she had that faith in herself. Nothing other than love could evoke such deeper emotions, she was sure of that.

She could never send him from her side again. She would never let him be sent from her side again. She wanted him forever, she wanted the bickering and arguments, she wanted the children looked like them, she wanted to watch his rust colored hair turn grey, she wanted to see his face every day of her life. She needed his lungs to help her breath, she needed his eyes to help her see, and his heart to help hers beat. Survival without him wouldn't last.

She remembered the story the boy who had his heart frozen. But now she knew only love could thaw a frozen heart.

Hans studied her smile. "What are you thinking about?"

"Do you remember the story of the boy who had his heart frozen?" she whispered. "I wonder if it is true."

He studied her for a moment, then shook his head thoughtfully, "I feel like the boy sometimes."

Elsa lifted her hand, slowly brushing her fingertips across his hard jaw in a soft caress. "Then who thawed your heart?" She giggled playfully.

Hans caught her hand, and looked into her gorgeous blue eyes. Placing her hand over his heart, he whispered,"You."

The End

Review? Faves? (Don't follow because it is the last chapter)

Finally the story comes to an end. Hope you have enjoyed it so far. It has been a nice long journey with you. Thank you for your endless support. You never let me down when I was struggling hard to continue the story and considered my errors nicely.

I will not write a sequel (I don't think it needs one.) I thought about writing a prequel but abandoned the idea recently. So this is my last story for this fandom.

It is my most reviewed story, so I don't know how to express my gratitude. You made me proud.

Will you consider to drop your thoughts for the last time?
