Chapter 31
YES ITS AN UPDATE!
Its been so long *apologizes a thousand times*. Will tell you all that's been happening in the A/N below but first lets have a quick flashback for those who've completely forgotten where the plot was going (all those who have bad memory like mine)-
Flashback: Tala and Kai are in Brazil investigating (undercover) an illegal and potentially hazardous drug-trafficking chain of which Judy is related. Tala is trying to get over is divorce. Hina might be able to help him but he doesn't want to be helped. He's paranoid and distrusting, disturbed with memories of a happier time now tainted with sadness. Spencer finally got a girl whom he loved like anything (HELEN who was last seen being bitten by the snake kept by Olho Roxo, the druglord and human-trafficker in the area) but she broke up with him by telling him to leave the place and that it was for the better. Ian likes the acrobatic, karate and archaeology specialist Giselle but she's angry with him for being the player he is and he's trying his best to win her back (this includes sleeping in her garden with a horrendous beard, sonnets spouting out of his mouth). Our old enemy, Countess Keira is out of prison and looking for revenge on the Bladebreakers. Her associate has teamed up with Roxo while she was last seen infiltrating into Ray's house dressed as a Nanny. Kai and Diana had a fight about him and Tala disappearing late at night but they kiss and make-up ;)
This was actually hilarious to write. I seem to have outdone myself with the spy-detective-action-adventure-thingy that I have been brewing here. Aww, I missed this story.
After Tala and Ian had bickered enough over the dining table everyone retired to bed, everyone except Tala, Kai and Spencer that is. Tala and Kai were going for another look-see in the area while Spencer had not returned for the evening. Nobody panicked this time. They all understood that Spencer had gone on a post-breakup expedition of his own.
This time Kai actually took a second to tell Diana that he was going out and this would be the last time. He promised to come back and explain and Diana understood, not because she was gullible but because she trusted him.
Kai and Tala left for Uncle Graf's Biscuit factory and not more than fifteen minutes had passed when a frantic Giselle called Diana that she needed her, "help, asap, girl. Come right now. Just come."
Diana mumbled, "Its eleven and I'm tired?"
"I'm very confused and I can't sleep like this. Help a friend, Diana!"
"Okay, okay. I'll wake up Jennifer and Hina too."
"Yeah, the more the better," Giselle said, muttering something about subjective view-points.
Diana tried to wake Jennifer but no matter how much Diana whispered and poked, Jennifer did not wake up. Diana was told, unceremoniously, to run before Jennifer committed murder.
Diana shrugged and decided to try Hina. Turned out Hina was missing from her room. Her camera wasn't hanging by the mirror and she could only conclude that Hina had finally gone on the midnight photography mission she had been talking about.
Nobody ever seemed to sleep in this place.
Giselle picked Diana up in the end and they decided to grab something from McDonald's on the way. Diana got down and looked through the menu pasted at the takeaway at the same time a man wearing a suit in the sweltering heat was ordering. Some argument broke out and the loud voice forced Diana to glance in the direction. The man held the half-asleep counter-boy's collar and shouted, "I cannot understand what you're saying, idiot. I said, CALL your manager NOW."
The boy was then shaken like a rag-doll while he cried and begged to let go.
Diana frowned, "Hey, you!"
The man tilted his head in her direction and his eyes widened slightly.
"Leave the boy alone. Whatever you want, you can ask politely. Without getting physical. Leave the boy or I'll call the Police," she set determinedly.
"Mrs. Hiwatari?" the man smirked.
Diana stared. The man knew her name and yet she had never seen him before. She tried to place him but couldn't. It must have shown on her face because he shook his head, "You have not met me before but I know enough about you."
As if to emphasise his power of knowledge he punched the boy across the face and laughed at Diana's shocked expression. She had had enough. She walked towards him and before he could even turn fully towards her, she had punched him, "How does that feel? Bad, right? This should teach you to respect people. I would have asked you to apologise but I see you are incapable of guilt."
The man grabbed her arm painfully and hissed, "You will pay for this dearly. You and your husband? None of you are going to see the light of tomorrow anyway but now? I'll make sure you pay dearly."
"What the hell is happening, you creep?" Giselle ran towards him from the car and delivered a powerful taekwando kick which would have knocked him down had he not moved away just in time. He brushed his suit and said, "My name is Graf. Remember it in your last moments." And with the threat, he was off.
"Oh my God! Are you okay?" Giselle asked, studying her friend's arm worriedly.
Diana didn't reply. She watched Graf slip into a grey convertible which disappeared round the bend.
"Diana! Say something!"
"He-he said that Kai and I are in danger," Diana finally said. "He knew us. He knew our names. He wasn't just threatening. He was really sure that-that something horrible is going to happen."
"Please tell me bit by bit," Giselle asked. "I cannot understand what just happened."
Diana explained the whole episode in two quick sentences adding, "Giselle, you need to get to the police station. Tell them all that happened and ask them to take action."
"Why? What are you going to do?"
"I am going to follow the creep and text you his location," Diana said.
"You're going to walk after him? Why? The Police can do that."
Diana looked shaken, "I don't know. All I know is that if we let him get away we might lose him. I can't afford that not after what he said. Please, Giselle, just go."
"How will you follow him?"
Diana pointed to the cashier's cycle with a smile, "There. Now, please, go."
"Take my mobile," Giselle pressed hers into Diana's hands and ran to her car.
After twenty minutes of furious peddling, Diana was relieved to see that the man's car had stopped. The only problem was that there were no buildings in sight. He seemed to have stopped in the middle of what looked like a poorly kept farmland.
Two men got out and the way they had been sitting, Diana guessed one was the driver. The driver groped about in the dust until he got hold of a chain. The moment he pulled it, a section of the ground noiselessly descended and disappeared.
"After you, Mr. Graf," the driver stepped back.
Diana took out Giselle's phone to send a quick text to Bryan or the Police but there was no signal. "Perfect," she muttered.
Well, the only thing left to do was to follow them. After giving them a head-start of ten minutes, she walked to the chain and pulled it. Taking a deep breath, she walked down the slope into the dark hole.
Hey everybody! I'm really sorry about the long delay in this update. Last month was chock-full of end-sem exams which were a nightmare. After exams, I was not able to write. Don't ask me why everything was happening at once. I lost the plot-map to this which though not very important contained details. All I can say is that I'M REALLY SORRY FOR LEAVING YOU ALL HANGING LIKE THAT. Its holidays now and even though I have a part-time job (YES, I GOT ONE! YOU ALL ARE WATCHING ME GROW UP OMG) at the moment, I promise I'll update regularly i.e. if you guys are still interested. I hope you are because I love this story and it has loads of action and drama to see.
A huge thanks to people who always give me a reason to write more, no matter how crappy I feel: SMRA (Hey, how are you? Hope you're doing great :) I think you're the only one who actually enjoys my rambling a/ns. Awww, good enough accomplishment right? Yup, Ray and Ella are in trouble. Your way of handling is pretty awesome hahahah XD Thank you! You sure know how to compliment. I don't really know how much of a matchmaker I am but apparently I give great relationship advice which is ironic. Again, THANK YOU! Haww, not even one of them, well, tehy were pretty tough to get things...Missed youuuu. Your reviews are a huge source of happiness to me, I swear. We are always gonna ignore who's Diana :P FB! Don't laugh, okay? But I lost my effing password after I visited last time. I forgot it and you know how I am on social media :'( BUT now that you've reminded me I'm going to make my mission to get back on. RR!), Phoebe Kate (Yes, poor me had to retype :'( LOL I knowww, the Ian parts are hilarious to write also. You may be right about Tala but then, he's Tala. He's so tough to write the way I've portrayed him. Like I differentiate him from Kai and its a huge effort since his scenes are less. THANK YOU for complimenting my sense of humour, you make my day. OHMYGOD you're right, Tala should have taken a photo. Dammit, why didn't this occur to me. College fests are great but equally horrifying. I'm glad they're done with and will come back only next year. The house thing? Exact same with me. i'm awful at such things. Nice to know you are too :P You're right about Diana yes. I've forgotten what we were talking about Kai XD OMG I'm your role model. How cool is that? Because you're awesome. RR!), gizmo5225 and Susan Styles. ILYALL hope you're still around :D
Please REVIEW and let me know you're still reading this and leave me your thoughts or tell me what's been happening in your life. I'd love to listen.
See ya!
P.S. May update Baby someday soon.
