Okay, so everyone was asking for romance in their reviews, don't worry, I had planned on putting some in since before I had even started this story.
Thank you all so much for the reviews. That was the most reviews I had gotten for any other chapter. I feel so loved! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Okay, I'll stop rambling now. Here's the epilogue.
Enjoy!
"They found Allen in the building, he's alive."
Lenalee, Lavi and Kanda froze when Komui said those words. For what felt like forever - though it was just a moment - they just stared at each other disbelieving. They found him? Was he really alive?
The moment soon passed though. Lavi and Lenalee both found a smile seeping onto their face, slowly turning into a grin. Even Kanda smiled a bit. It was strange, but it seemed that their moyashi friend had wormed his way even into the cold samurai's heart.
Lenalee was the first to speak. "Where is he? Can we see him?" she asked
Komui nodded. "Come on," he said "Let's go see Allen!"
Lavi and Lenalee jumped into Komui's car, but Kanda stayed outside. "Come on Kanda, don't you want to see Allen?" Lenalee asked
Kanda che'd. "I could care less about that moyashi." he grumbled
"Oh, come on Yuu. I saw you smile when Komui told us he was alive. You care about him and you know it." Lavi teased, snickering
That soon ended though when he came face to face with Kanda's beloved mugen. "I told you not to call me by my first name, baka usagi." Kanda growled menacingly. "I'll slice you up with mugen if you do it again."
Lavi gulped, and smiled when he pulled the sword away. Kanda began to walk away. "That's what you said last time Yuu. I'm starting to think it's an empty threat. You're too much of a wimp to hurt me you girly samurai." he said
Kanda froze, and turned around slowly, unsheathing mugen. "You have exactly three seconds to run." he snarled
Lavi's eyes widened, and he jumped out of the car, screaming his face off. Lenalee sighed, and walked up to where Kanda had Lavi cornered. She got in between them, and looked at them sternly. "Would you both just cut it out!? Now is not the time to be fighting! Kanda, if you're not going to come with us to see Allen, that's fine, but at least wait until Lavi get's to see him before killing him. You can do whatever you want to him afterwards, just calm down!"
Kanda, growled, but sheathed his katana. Lavi sighed. "Thanks, Lena." he said
Lenalee nodded, and dragged Lavi to the car. "Kanda, are you coming or what?" she called
Kanda just glared at her, and began walking away. Lenalee rolled her eyes, and sat down. "Let's go Nii-san." she said
Komui happily started the car and began the short drive to the hospital. Lavi and Lenalee had big smiles on their faces when they thought of being able to see Allen. Lenalee's smile fell a bit though when a though struck her. "Komui, on the news, did they happen to say if he was hurt?"
Her comment caused Lavi's smile to fall too, and they looked at Komui expectantly for an answer. He sighed. "The reporter said that there were signs... of torcher." he answers
Lenalee sucks in a breath, and her eyes begin to water. "T-torcher?" she asked
Komui nodded sadly. "I'm sorry Lenalee." he said
Lavi sighed. "You weren't really expecting anything else were you? He was kidnapped by people who hate him. You heard them say that they were going to use him for an experiment, didn't you? Right now, let's just be glad he's alive."
Lenalee sighed, and nodded. A single tear escaped her eyes though, and Lavi squeezed her shoulder. "Everything will be okay. He'll be fine."
When they arrived at the hospital, they quickly jumped out of the car and ran in. "Hello. We're friends of Allen Walker, do you think we can see him?" Komui asked the woman at the front desk.
She looked at them for a second. "Just one second." she said, checking something on the computer. "I'm afraid you can't go in right now, but you can wait outside until the doctor say's you can." she answered
Komui nodded. "He's in room 5C on the third floor, here are your visitor passes." the woman said, handing them tags.
"Thanks." Komui said, grabbing the passes.
They walked quickly towards the elevator. None of them said a word, they were all nervous.
When they go to Allen's room, there was a nurse coming out. Komui walked up to her. "Excuse me, but do you know when we might be able to see him?" he asked
The woman smiled. "You can go in now, if you want. He's not awake yet, but he should be soon. It'll be better if he wakes to see someone he knows."
Komui nodded, and thanked her.
Lenalee was the first to enter the room, and she gasped at what she saw. Allen was lying on the bed. If it weren't for all the cuts and bruises, and the pained look on his face, you would think he was simply at home sleeping in his bed.
She put her hands up to her mouth, and walked over to his bed. A couple of tears leaked from her eyes as she took his hand, careful not to squeeze to hard as to aggravate the injuries. Komui walked up to his bed silently, just sitting down in one of the chairs.
"Oh, god." Lavi gasped. "Man, they sure did a lot to him, didn't they?" he asked
Lenalee nodded, and more tears streamed down her face. 'Why?' she though 'Why did you do that Allen? Why did you risk your life to save mine? Why do you have to care so much?' The tears streamed down her face faster, sobs racking her shoulders. Komui walked up to her and grabbed her in a hug. "Shh, it's okay. He's alive, isn't he?" Lenalee nodded.
"Yeah, Lena. As long as he's alive, there's a pretty good chance that his injuries will heal." Lavi said
Lenalee nodded, and managed to stop the tears. She needed to be strong for Allen when he woke up. He was going to need a shoulder to cry on after everything that might have happened. She would be sure to be there when he did need it.
They stayed there for three hours, before Allen stirred. Lavi and Komui had fallen asleep, Lenalee was the only one who had managed to stay awake.
Allen's eyes fluttered open, and he looked around in fear, and then confusion when he saw Lenalee. "L... Lenalee? Is that you?" he asked in a small voice
Lenalee smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, it's me Allen."
"W-where am I?" he asked
"You're in the hospital, Allen. The police found you in a burning building, you're safe now." she said, squeezing his hand lightly
Allen turned his face to look at her, tears forming in his eyes. "S-safe? Really?"
Lenalee nodded, her own eyes watering. She refused to cry though, she needed to be strong. Allen needed someone to be there for him.
A few tears managed to escape Allen's eyes. "Safe." he whispered. He looked at Lenalee, and Lenalee looked back at him, before gathering him in a hug. "That's right Allen, your safe. They can't hurt you now."
Allen hugged her tighter, despite his wounds, and cried into her shoulder.
Unbeknownst to them, Lavi and Komui had woken up, and were watching the scene with a smile on their faces.
"Eh, Tyki? Why did you let Allen go?" a girl with spiky, purple hair asked a man with black curly hair.
"Hmm? Oh, that? Why Road, you should know that. The police were close to finding us, even if they don't know how close. He had become a liability. We couldn't drag him around anymore. He probably died in that burning building, anyway. Even if he did survive though, he wouldn't be able to tell the police where we're hiding."
"Oh, that's why." Road said
Tyki nodded, then went back to the book he was reading. They were currently in a new location, no one would be able to find them, or so they thought.
A little after Road and Tyki's little talk, there was a voice being blasted in from outside. "THIS IS THE POLICE. WE HAVE YOU SURROUNDED. COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP."
"Damn it." Tyki swore. There was nothing they could do though as members of the police swarmed in.
As they were handcuffed and led to the police cars, one of the men spoke. "You know, you've caused a lot of problems for us. It's a good thing we've finally found you. You're looking at spending the rest of your life in prison, if you're lucky."
Tyki groaned, and the voice of their leader could be heard over everyone else as the police told him who ratted them out. "DAMN YOU ALLEN WALKER!" he called
Lavi and Komui greeted Allen, and then left the room so he and Lenalee could have some alone time. Well, more like Lavi had to drag Komui out of the room after he had one of his 'sister complex' fits.
Lenalee squeezed his hand again. She turned on the TV, just as it was reported that all known members of the gang NOAH were caught and taken into custody. Allen smiled, and looked at Lenalee. He had missed her. She was one of the few things that had kept him going while he had been kidnapped. As he looked at her, he noticed her hair was shorter than before. "What happened to your hair, Lenalee?" he asked
"Hmm? Oh, during my short time with your tormentors, they burned it. It was either cut it, or let it look horrible." she replied
He nodded. "Even so, you still look beautiful." he whispered
Lenalee blushed, and smiled. "Thanks Allen." she said, pulling him into another hug.
"You know Lenalee, you were the reason I was able to keep going. If I hadn't have met you..."
Lenalee shushed him, and put her forehead against his. "It's okay Allen, you don't need to say anymore." she said, noticing the tears beginning to form in his eyes again.
For a while, they just stared at each other, lost in the other's eyes. "I love you." Allen whispered
Lenalee smiled. "I love you too, Allen. It took me a while to realize it, but I do."
They stared into each other's eyes for moment more, before closing the gap. Their lips connected in a sweet, passionate kiss. It was different than the one they shared when Allen was taking Lenalee's spot as the NOAH's toy. That one had been rushed, short. This one though, it was sweet. All of their emotions were pouring out of them into the one kiss. Even though it lasted only for a few seconds, it felt like an eternity. In those few moments, they understood each other, as much as one person could. They had connected.
When they broke the kiss, Allen put his forehead on Lenalee's again, a blush gracing his features. "I really don't know what I would do without you, Lenalee." he whispered
"ditto." Lenalee replied, smiling.
Allen had fallen asleep later that day, and Lenalee had left for a few minutes to get some food. When she came back, Allen was muttering to himself, a horrified expression on his face. He shook his head, as if he was trying to get rid of a memory. Lenalee quickly walked over to him, and sat down beside him. She was just about to reach for him when he screamed, and shot up in bed.
Tears were streaming down his face, and his brow was covered in sweat. He was hyperventilating and looking around the room wildly, as if looking for something.
"Allen?" the voice cut through his panic, and he turned his head to see Lenalee. He calmed down a little bit, but tears were still streaming down his face wildly. Lenalee pulled him into a hug. "Shhh... it's okay Allen. You're here, you're safe. They can't hurt you now. Shhh..." Lenalee comforted him, rubbing small circles on his back as he cried into his shoulder.
After a while, he calmed down, and pulled away. "Do you want to talk about it?" Lenalee asked
Allen shook his head, and just rested his head on her shoulder again. Lenalee smiled, and squeezed him. "It's okay Allen." she said
After a while, Allen fell asleep again, and Lenalee carefully placed him down on his bed. She looked at him, a peaceful look on his face, only to be ruined by the many cuts and bruises. With his white hair framing his face, spanned out all over his pillow, Lenalee thought he looked like a wounded angel.
She thought back on what Lavi had said earlier. As long as he was alive, his wounds would heal. That was true, yet... there was something else to it that he forgot. His wounds may heal, but the scars will remain. They may fade throughout time, but they will still be there, reminders of what had happened. They will stay with you forever, never leave your side.
Just like memories.
Okay, normally I suck at endings, but I feel like I did a pretty good job there.
Again, thank you to all those that reviewed, without your thoughts, I might not have been able to continue this story. Was that enough romance for you? If it wasn't, don't worry, there will be more in the sequel.
It's going to be called 'Road to Recovery' and it's basically going to be exactly what the title suggests. It'll just be about Allen healing physically and mentally after his time with the NOAH. It'll probably be a little shorter than this story, maybe seven to nine chapters. If you have any thing you want to see in it, please tell me. I'll try to put it in if I can. If I can't, I'm sorry.Anyway, thank you to all of you who stayed with this story until the end. I honestly hadn't been too sure how this story would turn out, but I'm pretty happy with it.
Thank you again, I'll stop babbling now.
Until the sequel.
Hope to see your thoughts there!
