Guys, I am so happy about the response this has gotten (429 views the day of the last update)! The last time I felt this giddy about a chapter update was back when I only had 1 story. You've made me feel so special! :) Thanks to the 10 people who favorited this and the 39 who followed! Also, a shout-out to Child of Taboo, for adding this story to their community Right Turn!

Mimo123d: Sorry for the wait! I've been really busy, and I've got other stories that needed updating. I've given up one of them, and I got some one-shots out of my system, so I should be good about updating a little more regularly, but I'm not making any promises. Thanks for reviewing!

Guest (1): Thanks! Here you go!

Robinoflove: How about now? That's good too, right? :) Thanks for reviewing!

InfernoLeo9: Sorry. I'm assuming that two fairly close updates tricked you into thinking I update quickly. I can only write when I have time and the muse hits, so... I don't end up writing very regularly. But thanks for reviewing! :)

Guest (2): Thanks for reviewing, and sorry for the wait!

Chapter 3

"What makes you think I know where you're family is?"

Elsa was stunned by the girls tone. "Do you not know who I am?!" She was losing her temper, just a little bit. She was used to high-expectations, not anonymity. She didn't like not having everyone immediately know her name, title, duties, and behaviors. She'd been surrounded with people who knew her since...

But this girl acted like she owned the palace! Slamming the doors open, taking whatever food she wanted, leaving without offering the Crown Princess the proper respect.

The girl's face was beet-red. Her mouth fell open, ready to retort, When the footman cleared his throat. This caught both their attentions.

"M'ladies, I apologize for the abruptness, but it is my unpleasant duty to inform you both of your p—of your parents..." He was choking on his words, fighting back tears. The orange-haired girl immediately stepped towards, offering him a consoling pat on the back, a short hug, and a handkerchief Elsa suspected was actually good table linen. The man calmed himself after a moment. He began again, "Princess Anna, Crown Princess Elsa."

The girls glanced at each other briefly, very surprised by the news that the other girl was her sister. He continued, "It is my duty to inform you that a great storm came over your parents ship. There has been no sign of them, and we must fear the worst."

Elsa felt stunned. She hadn't been close to her parents in a long time, but she had still loved them. The girl—Anna, she corrected herself—seemed to have frozen in place. Her bright blue eyes were locked on the footman's face. Suddenly, she laughed darkly. "Right, what is this, some kind of sick joke? It's not funny! I know that I was always acting and saying that they might as well not be around, but that doesn't mean you can pull something like this on me, Erik!"

"Anna!" Elsa had begun reprimanding her younger sister before she had realized what she was doing. She took a step back as the girl spun to face her again, eyes flashing dangerously.

"Don't! Just don't! You can't tell me what to do when you've been gone for ten years!" Her voice breaking as she finished, Anna stormed out of the dining hall, most likely to her room.

Elsa looked at Erik, after taking a few calming breaths. "Is she always that... dramatic?"

Erik's eyes were still on the doors. "She can be passionate, but never like this," he replied, his voice soft. He blinked, and then added a hasty "your majesty", obviously unused to using the title for anyone other than her parents.

"Your parents' chief advisor would like to meet with you as soon as possible. He says that they left some instructions for you in case something like this happened. I believe most of them have to do with An—Princess Anna."

"Of course. I can meet with him after lunch, if that is alright?"

"Yes, your majesty. I will send word to him."

As Erik left, Elsa fiddled with her gloves. When Anna had left, she'd caught a glimpse of the pale streak of hair marring the left side of her head. Seeing the result of her own irresponsibility had caught her off balance emotionally. And soon she'd be hearing how her parents wanted her to take care of the sister she had nearly killed. She hoped she would be ready to do that.

That afternoon, Elsa met with her parent's chief advisor. The man seemed good-natured and capable, which Elsa felt would help ease her into being queen. As they discussed the various things she would now have to take care of, and which matters would be the most pressing over the next few days, she kept stealing short glances at the sealed envelope on the desk. Inside was her parents instructions, addressing what Elsa knew would be the most important aspects of her life as queen: her powers, and Anna.

Finally, the man picked up the envelope and handed it to her. "Even I do not know what this envelope contains. They would give me one like this every time they went on any sort of journey, instructing me not to open it unless something terrible happened. After you turned fifteen, they told me it should be given to you, that I should not open it at all."

She took it, and tried to keep her hands from shaking as she broke the wax seal. She removed a few sheets of paper from inside, and began to read to herself.

Elsa,

Please know that your father and I never meant to leave this huge responsibility on you at such a young age. All of our trips have been to find ways of helping you with your powers. Not necessarily a way to rid you of them, but some way to help you keep them contained.

You know Anna doesn't remember you have them. I am sure that you are the only person other than ourselves who knows, unless you told any of your servants or tutors. Please try to keep this secret. When you are in control, they are wonderful, but any imbalance of your emotions can lead to danger, and we don't wish our people to fear you.

I am sure you will be a marvelous queen.

We want you to send Anna to the Southern Isles after your coronation. We are friends with the royal family their, and if you send the letter we have included, they should accept her as a guest for an extended period of time. This is so she can become a little more cultured, as well as to free you from at least one burden as you adjust: you won't have to worry about harming her, or rebuilding the bond that has all but disappeared with your isolation, or caring for her.

My last request is that you don't allow that bond to completely fall apart. Despite her altered memories and the long time you have been apart, she is still your sister. Don't abandon her.

We love you,

Mother

Elsa glanced at some of the other papers. One was a letter to Anna explaining why she was being sent away, and the other page was a letter to the King of the Southern Isles, explaining why Anna was being sent to them.

This is such a bad place to end it, but I didn't want to make it overly long... Which is what would've ended up happening.

Anyways, review, and please don't hate me for not updating in almost 4 months... Writer's block sucks and Doctor Who is addicting...
