To say that Laufey panicked when he found out that Loki was missing was an understatement.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE HIM?" Laufey yelled. He had discovered that Farbauti did not, in fact, have their son.
"I THOUGHT YOU HAD HIM!" Farbauti shouted back. It had been many centuries since they've had to care for a child in a way that meant they would have to watch him almost constantly. To make sure he didn't wander off and get lost, or worse, crushed by someone not paying attention.
"Do you have any idea where he might have gone?" Laufey breathed, freaking out would not help anybody.
"He's only been here one day how could I know?" Farbauti said, following Laufey's example and taking a deep breath. Farbauti began pacing in the dining hall, he had been eating a quick breakfast before planning to go into town when Laufey walked in asking how Loki was. There was first confusing then yelling as they figured out that neither of them had their first born.
"Okay, let's go back to the bedroom and see if he was just overlooked?" Laufey suggested, Farbauti nodded and followed his mate back to their room.
Entering the room, the pair carefully searched the bed and surrounding places.
"Ugh Laufey, I keep telling you to stop opening the windows at night," Farbauti grumbled, noticing the cracked window and going to shut it. "You know I don't like it when bugs and other creatures come in at night."
Laufey gave a small chuckle, he walked over and leaned against the window sill grinning at Farbauti. "And I keep telling you I think it's hilarious that the fierce general of the jotun army is afraid of small bugs. Especially when he sleeps next to the bravest king this realm has ever known. Don't you-" Laufey stopped.
"What?" Farbauti asked.
"I didn't open the window last night."
"Well you must have," Farbauti said with a frown. "How else would it have..." They stared at the open window.
"Oh no," Laufey said.
"You don't think?"
They both shoved open the windows, scanning the ground below for their son's broken body. Thankfully they saw no such thing but it didn't do much the quell the thoughts of what horrible thing might have happened to Loki.
"Could he have been kidnapped? Has our son been taking from us again?" Farbauti wailed, Laufey's breathing quickened but he tried to keep his head leveled. Loki couldn't have been taken could he? It would have been nearly impossible for someone to sneak onto palace grounds unwanted, much less scale the palace itself. Plus how could anyone have known where Loki was? Laufey scanned area's near the window, that's when he saw the tree, an idea started to from in his mind about where Loki could be.
Keeping these thoughts in mind, Laufey grabbed Farbauti's arm and started to drag him out the door.
"Laufey what are you doing?"
"I think I know where Loki is."

A marauder that went by the name of Hackett, viewed the far off capital city of Jotunheim. He watched the place through a spyglass stolen from one of the last towns his group had raided. He cursed the cold and walked back down the hill he was on, It was almost time.
Halfway down the hill, Hackett was met by two other marauders, they were the other leaders.
"So what does it look like?" One growls, Liron, "It can't be all the different than what's suspected."
"It's the same." Hackett confirms. "I just hope the Boss knows what he's doing. Attacking a major city, pah."
"As long as we get what we were promised. We could be told to attack Asgard for all I care, I just want my gold." Galo said.
Unlike what most everyone seemed to believe, marauders were not just groups of randoms attacking at random. They had a boss, the Boss. Now of course there were in fact groups here and there that were not following the Bosses orders. But those groups never really lasted long. The Boss organized them, he put people like Hackett in charge of a large group. He told Hackett where to attack and Hackett told them. It was a vast system across the nine realms. Now the reason that this system works is because the Boss knew all the right places to hit. Somehow he knew what places had the good stuff to grab, and so he'd send them to trash the place. He kept one third of what was taken and the rest they could keep. But this was odd, their boss did not usually mix together groups to take down a target. And never before had they attacked a city, it wasn't their style. The only reason most of them were there was the fact that the Boss had offered to give them a large sum of gold if they did it, the ones that survived anyway. All they had to do was go into the city, make a scene, then leave. They could even keep whatever they pillaged without having to give some to the Boss.
"Tell the men we're ready. It's time to move out."

Loki was not in the garden.
They had examined the tree and not discovered him there or in the surrounding greenery. Farbauti sighed and sat on the closest bench dejectedly, he didn't know what to do.
"Do not worry so Farbauti," Laufey said, sitting down next to him, "We will find our son."
"What if he doesn't wish to be found?"
"You think he's run away?" Laufey asked, he didn't want to think about it. For buried beneath the surface that's what he feared had happened too, but, "I don't think he would do that."
"And why shouldn't he? We both know he was raised to hate our kind, why shouldn't he run the first chance he got?" Farbauti rebuked angrily. Laufey couldn't answer that, not in a reasonable way. He said that because he had a feeling that Loki wouldn't do something like that, maybe it was the ancient bond between the child bearer and the child frost giants had. He wasn't sure, but he just knew Loki hadn't left the palace grounds.
"Let's just keep looking." Before they could continue their search though, a palace guard ran up to them out of breath.
"My King!" The gard exclaimed, quickly placing a fist above his heart. "There is trouble, a mass of marauders are fast approaching the city!"
Laufey stiffened, "Sound the alarm, tell the men to get into their positions." Laufey barked, the guard nodded once before hurrying away to fulfil his task.
"Laufey?" Farbauti said, a question hanged in the air. Did they continue to search for Loki, or go with the troops?
"Farbauti go and get Helbindi and Byleistr, tell them what going on and to get ready. I will go command the guards." Laufey said, an alarm sounded. All the other jotuns in the courtyard froze before rushing away.
Farbauti nodded and also took off. Laufey looked once more around the yard, before he too left.

"What in hel is that?" Loki asked as the alarm screamed and Healer stood swiftly.
"Mmn." Healer grabbed Loki and placed him on his shoulder. "It seems that we are under attack."
"What?" Who would attack them? Was it Odin? Had he sent Loki here only to be killed in a fight a mere week later?
"We must be swift, I will return you to your room before seeing what I can do to help." Healer said, people all around them were hurrying to get where they needed to be. Whether it was the guards going to fight or commoners and such trying to get to cover, there was much movement. Which meant that it was no surprise to Loki when Healer was run into, he was thrown off.
Loki was left gasping for air as the wind had been knocked out of him, Healer did not notice and kept making his way through the crowd. Not being able to call for help Loki could only lay there and hope not to be stepped on. When he did finally regain his breath Loki was lost in a swirl of people, not being able to tell which way he should go. While he was deciding which way to run, Loki did not see the foot about to crush him. It was last second that Loki saw it and threw up a shield. The person that was about to stomp on him was thrown off balance and fell, Loki saw who it was.
"Helbindi!" Loki called out to the giant, Helbindi saw him and picked him up before standing.
"Loki? What are you doing here, I thought you were in your room!"
"Helbindi what is happening?" Loki demanded.
"Father said there is a huge pack of marauders coming towards the city. Me and Byleistr are going to go fight, I should get you to safety first." Helbindi said, but Loki stopped him.
"No, take me with you to Laufey and Farbauti. I will see if I can help." Loki said, a determined look on his face.
"Are you sure, I still have time to get you to your room before they get here." Helbindi tried, he really did not want to be responsible for the death of his older brother. The ground shook and the sudden sound of battle could be heard.
"Apparently they are already here." Loki said, he held on to Helbindi's thumb. "Now let's go."
Helbindi nodded. "Right."

Byleistr cast a small spell that caused an ice barrier to rise up and throw a marauder back. He then dodged an arrow shot at him before retaliating with an ice shard to the man's neck. Where was Helbindi? Receiving a rather painful jab, Byleistr returned his mind to the fight.
"Brother!" Byleistr heard Helbindi's cry and immediately saw his older brother racing towards him. Byleistr cut down the remaining enemies around him as Helbindi stopped in front of him, Byleistr saw Loki on his brother's palm.
"Loki, it's dangerous for you to be here! Helbindi why didn't you put him somewhere safe?"
"He wanted to come, plus there was no time." Helbindi defended, Loki laughed.
"And as if either of you could have stopped me from actually getting here anyway." Loki looked around, "Where are Laufey and Farbauti?"
"I saw them just a minute ago, here." Byleistr held out his hand. Loki jumped onto it and soon they were away with Byleistr dodging through the crowd and Helbindi leaving to wherever he was needed

Farbauti and Laufey fought side by side, cutting down the enemies that dare invade their home. Farbauti tried to push the thought of Loki somewhere alone in this mess and almost getting trampled out of his mind. But the image kept coming back and that made him all the more eager to get these criminals out.
"Father!" Farbauti's head snapped in the direction of his child's voice. Byleistr stopped in front of him and held out his hand. Much to Farbauti's surprise and delight, Loki was in the offered hand. Holding his own out Loki climbed on.
"Loki your mother and I were so worried for you." Farbauti said, Loki looked surprised at the confession, Farbauti continued. "Please Loki before you attempt anything like that again just tell us what you want. You could have just told us you wanted to go outside, we would have gladly shown it to you. Or anything else as well, we want you to explore your home."
"I just," Loki paused and sighed. "Whenever you are feeling gracious enough to show me the palace I would accept the invitation."
Farbauti frowned, Loki was talking like a visitor, like something that could just be passed over if Farbauti wasn't feeling like it.
"Loki my child I, we, will always make room for you. Just ask and we will try to the very best of our ability and then some you get you what you desire."
"Farbauti what are you doing there's- Loki?" Laufey had been too busy fighting to notice that his partner had stopped. He glared at the small figure being held at his eye level by Farbauti, he made Loki nervous.
"King Laufey, I apologize my leaving without permission. I should not have attempted such a thing, should you chose to punish me for my actions I understand and I-" Loki was cut off as Laufey took Loki in his free hand and kissed the top of his head.
"Loki, the only thing that matters to me right now is that you're safe. Yes I do wish you had not gone out without telling me or your father, muchless out the window. But you are unhurt, and for that I am grateful. And please Loki, we are family, there is no need for formality. You only need to call me mother or Laufey." Laufey said, Loki could not reply as a horn was blown. It wasn't the jotun's as for when it was heard everyone stopped fighting for a split seconded before the marauders instantly began to retreat.
"What? Why would they just retreat after all that?" Byleistr questioned, watching the remaining crooks flee.
"I do not know," Laufey said, holding Loki closer. "But right now we must take care of the damage that was done. Byleistr find your brother and make sure he's okay. Farbauti, see to the men, I will take Loki back to his room as so he can rest." Loki looked as though he wanted to argue but then silently accepted Laufey's offer. They all went off to complete their task.

The Boss paid no mind to the vast gold that was being put away, he could do that later. What he was focusing on right now was the one who had paid him. They returned the stare.
"I have given the order and sent the groups to meet up in Jotunheim, the task will be completed soon. But I do not see why you don't just do it yourself, why do my men have to die just so you get remain anonymous?" The Boss asked. He didn't really care for the lives of his men, he could always find more. But he was curious as to why someone like this was doing buisness with him.
"You have been paid for your service. Not because you have questions." The person said, they turned and started to walk out. "And should your services be required again, you will be contacted." Then they were gone, the door slamming shut behind them.
So does anyone what to guess on who ordered the attack on Jotunheim?
Eve Prime - So I like the idea of Loki almost getting crushed so I incorporated it in this chapter (don't know if you noticed). But as for the getting bigger thing, I might have that happen temporarily, but this story is kind of about Loki accepting who he is and being okay with it.
PeaceHeather - Yeah in the MCU the frost giants as like the size of the hulk, but in some their super huge and others their kind of inbetween and that was what I was aiming for, sorry if it was confusing :/
Rosemary - I hadn't thought about that, but it might be interesting...
Anyway, until next time my beautiful readers! Until next time :)
(ps, really sorry for any spelling mistakes, my bad :P)
