Felicity and John knew Oliver had another list.
But it was a different sort of list, nothing like the one Robert left him, because this one was kept in his pocket and he wrote it in every night, just before Felicity closed the computer system and John packed his gun up.
It was late, the first time Felicity noticed. Diggle had already left and she'd swatted him away when he'd attempted to help her clean up. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Oliver pull a basic white notepad from his backpack and a pen. Frowning, his tongue poking out slightly, he clicked his pen a few times and started jotting down points.
"What's that?" Felicity looked over his shoulder, frowning.
Oliver jumped, as if he'd forgotten she was still in the room. Quickly closing the notepad and sliding it out of her view, he turned around to face her, trying to hide the sudden panic on his face.
"Nothing, just something I need to remember." Oliver plastered a smile on his face, but his eyes screamed leave it, Felicity.
Felicity's oceanic eyes narrowed slightly, a smile tugging on her lips. "Oliver, I'm not the girl in the IT department anymore. You don't have to lie to me."
Oliver searched her face, sighing when he realised she was right. Wordlessly, he handed her the notepad.
It was a list. A lot of lists, actually. Dating back to over a year ago. When Oliver had first come back from the island.
Curious, Felicity read on.
'Seeing Mom again.
Seeing Thea.
Knowing Mom's happy with Walter.
Still have Tommy.'
Still frowning, Felicity flipped over a few pages, sucking in a sharp breath when she saw the date of another event. The day of the Undertaking.
'Felicity's safe and alive.
Diggle, Mom, Thea and Laurel still alive.
Thea safe with Roy.
Dark Archer dead.'
"How come you list everything that happens?" Felicity looked up at Oliver, who was watching her carefully.
"I only list the good things." He replied softly, gently taking the notebook from her hands.
"Why?"
He avoided her eyes, drumming his fingers on the notebook cover. Felicity wasn't sure she'd ever seen him look so shy.
It was kind of adorable.
Still not meeting her eyes, Oliver cleared his throat.
"It's a list...of things that keep me going, things I should be glad about. Because I want to be happy, Felicity. Even if the things that make me happy are the smallest things, like you and Dig and Thea being alive after the Undertaking..." He paused. "I make a list of the good things to cancel out how much I think about the bad things."
Felicity was seeing Oliver in a whole different light now. Trying to hold himself together after the aftermath of the island, the Undertaking, Tommy...
Before she realised what she was doing, Felicity placed both hands on his shoulders and pressed a kiss to his forehead. Oliver gave a surprised laugh.
Pulling away, hands still on his shoulders, Felicity smiled at him, her eyes loving and understanding.
"There's always something to be happy or glad about, Oliver." She told him firmly. "Even if it takes a while to find."
