Nights Apart
Prologue
Warnings: None.
Dexter tossed, and turned, sat up, laid down, sprawled himself over the surface of the bed, draped himself across it, even hung upside-down over the side. Sleep would just not come.
"Computress! Status report!" He commanded.
"Communications still offline. Attempt at repair inconclusive. No word thus far." Computress reported. Dexter growled.
Ben had been sent to the KND moon base to assist there for a while. The separation had been nowhere near bearable, until communications went out roughly a week ago. Turning it into a living hell times thousands.
Dexter had tried all he could, but the signal just would not be restored! That or it was just taking its sweet time about it.
If Fuse was behind this inconvenience, he would pay dearly. Dexter himself would see to that.
But right now, there was the issue of sleeping. He didn't want a sedative, he had to lapse into dreamless sand-man educed sleep, lest a horde of nightmares await him.
Worry was inevitable, given how much Dexter loved Ben.
It would probably take hours, and a load of nonsensical reasoning, but combined with Ben's jacket draped over his shoulders (it just smelled so much like him!) he should be able to calm himself down enough to allow exhaustion to collapse him.
"Take care of this for me" Ben had said, handing over the very jacket. "Don't worry, Dex. I'll be back before you can blink!" He smiled reassuringly.
"I've blinked enough, Mr. Tennyson. Please, I beg of you, return to me safely." Dexter prayed, clasping the green jacket in a death-grip.
Author's note: Nothing much to say.
