May I Take Your Hand For This Dance?
AN: A fun and long story I thought up though I can't remember how. Not a Valentine's related story but fluffiness is present. Enjoy.
Summary: Weiss asks Ruby to a dance with a bit of help. A pleasant chain of events, so to speak, takes hold.
"Have I ever told you that I hate warm weather?"
Blake must've heard something; she couldn't keep her attention away from reading and epic fantasy novel that had a television adaption and grew to an immense popularity. Blake felt a bit saddened she did not had the chance to pick it up earlier.
Weiss, for all that is completely logical, sat in the sun with her jean jacket on, unbuttoned. On the other hand, Blake sat in the shadow of the tree, comfort at its best.
Both were on the grass near the school courtyard, under one of the many trees that towered above them. It was a bit unusual for Blake to be alone with Weiss as the former was always by Yang's side almost every single time during and after school. As to why they are paired up, Yang had a volleyball game today. Before she left, Blake offered a very interesting award if Yang carried her team to victory. The blonde promised to win.
Blake nearly finished her book as she could tell by feeling the last pages withered down. Her eyes widened, showing shock and surprise at the same time, her mouth slightly agape. The lord-prisoner had been beheaded mercilessly at the order of a young, sadistic blonde king. At the end, Blake was pleased the young daughter of the now-beheaded lord had made it out safely of the capital, but at the cost of her long brown hair and her "gender," now presently referred as "boy."
Blake shut her book as she finished reading the last word and placed it gently near her backpack. She stretched her arms high in the sky and sighed.
"That was one hell of a book," she said.
"Finally she speaks," Weiss praised sarcastically.
Blake glared. "Perhaps if you get in the shade, you wouldn't complain so much about the weather, let alone the sun," she shot back.
Weiss shot her a deathly gaze. She opened her mouth but couldn't make a comeback.
"Ugh, fine."
Hopping over like a bunny, she took the vacant space near Blake and rested her back against the trunk. She sighed internally from the comfort under the tree but still felt hot in the shade.
Vale was heating up pretty quickly this semester; summer was just around the corner, just weeks shy from it's inception. Sadly for Weiss, it had come sooner then expected.
"Hey Blake, have you heard about the Vytal Summer Dance?"
"What about it?" Blake feigned interest in upcoming topic, her gaze looking far in the distance.
Weiss shifted her eyes to the girl beside her. "Well... Do you want to come with me?"
Amber eyes flew at the girl, eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Weiss knew Blake probably took it the wrong way and held up her hands in defense. "I mean as friends, just to keep company." Weiss paused. "I know you're with Yang and all but if she doesn't go, will you join me?"
"Don't you have Ruby," Blake asked as a matter-of-fact.
"I-I do, but I don't know if she would like to go."
"You mean, you don't know if you would like to go to the dance with Ruby," Blake corrected with an unnoticeable grin.
"W-what," Weiss questioned and laughed nervously. "I don't know what you mean."
Blake shook her head in disappointment. Typical Ruby attitude that Weiss had picked up. "Don't lie Weiss, you know how Ruby is. She would say yes to most things you would ask her. Not to mention she's softened you up significantly," Blake argued as she smiled. "Go find her and ask her right now."
Weiss stammered as she tried to form a response. "R-right now? I have no idea where she hangs out."
Blake tilted her head. "It's simple: find a petite girl in red-hooded jacket," she stated the obvious. She got up, pulled Weiss from her spot and pushed the stubborn girl out under the sun once again.
Weiss hesitated to go any further. She looked back at Blake who, with an annoyed look on her face, mouthed "Go" and shook her head to the general direction.
"Find her on the grass behind the cafeteria. Now go before all hope is lost." Blake returned to her spot after she gave a quick wave goodbye and returned to her usual peace of not caring 'bout the world around her.
Gathering her courage, Weiss marched towards the cafeteria under the blazing hot sun.
In a matter of minutes, she had arrived. Around the cafeteria was a sizable land of grass and trees and chains of bushes. Students on the far side played sports to their heart's content. Others took solace under the plentiful number of trees and stayed with friends or loved ones.
Under one of the trees Weiss could see a hint of red clothing behind it. Moving closer, she could see Ruby against the tree with her headphones on connected to her iPod, gripping her backpack as she napped.
Now Weiss doubted herself—she didn't want to ruin her sleep. Ruby looked so peaceful when she sleeps. Ruby wouldn't get mad at her if Weiss woke her up, but be annoyed was the more viable consequence of her action. But Ruby was very forgiving, one of the things Weiss loves and hates about Ruby.
The question can wait. But what if someone would ask her? No, Ruby isn't that sociable. Her awkward social skills would almost turn anyone away first time meeting them.
But how long would Weiss wait until she asked? A week, a month from now? No, it's best to do it right now and get it over with.
Weiss knelt down on the grass next to the girl in red.
From a gentle shake on her shoulder, Ruby opened her eyes with ease. Those silver eyes twinkled like the night sky.
"Hello Weiss," Ruby greeted with admiration and happily smiled as she took off her headphones. No tiredness was present in her voice.
Weiss felt a sudden pull in her chest. Whatever it was, witnessing that smile nearly drove her brain into overload.
Just how one smile can be so beautiful, Weiss thought. And those eyes too...
Ruby felt concerned. When Weiss had arrived she was all but silent and staring, unaware that she was gawking at the red-hooded girl.
Hearing her name a few times, Weiss fell out of her trance, looking at the girl waving a hand in front of her face.
"What's up Weiss?" Ruby laughed nervously, blushing at the staring girl.
This is it.
Weiss took a moment to prepare herself. In one deep breath beforehand, she managed to finally ask Ruby out to the summer dance. Ruby stayed silent, still hearing her music blasting in the background from her headphones that she took off before.
Weiss flushed furiously. She turned her attention to the grass dancing in the wind, a more comforting sight to look at. It was always Ruby that asked Weiss out to dates on the weekends whenever they have the time. For Weiss, taking the reins was nerve wrecking and quite the adrenaline rush.
Seconds passed by. Weiss was beginning to wonder if she were to get her answer.
She's not interested. Okay, I'll ju—
A quick burst of movement completely caught Weiss off-guard. A kiss on her mouth was the quiet reply from dark-haired girl, completely melted her heart.
Ruby pulled away, answering with a simple phrase,"Of course I'll go with you," and smiled.
Weiss felt the collar of her jacket being pulled closer as Ruby leaned forward to kiss once more. She instinctively sat on top of Ruby and cupping her cheeks, unaware of her actions as the kiss became more heated.
Much her dismay, Ruby felt herself being pushed away from those soft lips.
Weiss, her face completely red, breathed heavily as she spoke. "N-n-not here, you dolt. There are other students in the vicinity."
Ruby just smiled and chuckled silently. Weiss' stammering was just too adorable. With lustful eyes, Ruby dived closer to Weiss' face.
"Why not," she said softly, using her seductive voice to its highest potential. "This spot in the back is very convenient for this type of stuff. Besides, we got ten more minutes of lunch left to ourselves. And we haven't done this in a while."
Weiss tried to respond. She did miss Ruby's lustful antics. "Y-you idiot. It's bec—Ah..."
Ruby didn't care for an answer, finding the spot of Weiss' neck a far more interesting sight to nibble on.
...
The four girls opted to go on a dress shopping trip at the mall during the weekend. When the day seemed to be going well, Blake had a brilliant idea (not really) of having the sisters go with the opposite pair: Blake with Ruby, leaving Yang with Weiss.
Yang went completely against the idea, making up excuses that she would go with Ruby instead. Blake retorted that by going with the former idea, each give an honest opinion of what their date would feel when they would see it at the dance. Ruby also mentioned this would also be a fitting surprise for the date; instead of seeing the dress now when one buys it, the reaction would be genuine when their partner sees it for the first time before the dance.
With Weiss' agreement as the final nail on the coffin, the girls set off to the stores they had in mind.
Can't argue against democracy.
It's unfortunate for Weiss, for both having Yang at her side and not seeing Ruby in a dress at all. Being paired up with the brutish blonde girl was aggravating her since the moment the two walked together. Yang pouted the whole way through but Weiss didn't care. Her puppy-eyed pout was not on the level of Ruby's. When they both stepped into a clothing shop, Yang's behavior changed from a kid who cried over a lost lollipop to an ecstatic teen-girl who finally met their celebrity crush.
Weiss picked the place as it was affordable for the both of them, although Weiss would go above and beyond to buy from a high-end tailor shop.
The two girls took their time finding a suitable dress. Most were all modest looking, fitting for any occasion like a wedding and a high-school prom.
It was when Yang had already picked a black dress when Weiss still took her time browsing.
It's not even five minutes yet...
"See if it looks good on me, yeah," Yang asked.
Weiss nodded. As if she had any choice.
In a short time, Yang popped out of the dressing room stall.
"What do you think?"
Weiss dared to look away from her cellphone.
Yang posed. The little black dress and her mane of yellow hair, screamed "Ten out of infinity, would bang," not accounting the missing footwear or accessories. The dress heavily accented her wide curves as if she were a goddess of perfection. In short, just a plain "Oh my God" would've suffice.
Now Weiss sees why Blake wanted to go with Ruby. She wouldn't stand a chance at Yang's presence.
She should really stop reading those smut fictions.
Yang flipped her hair over the shoulder and asked Weiss her opinion. Surely her smile would stop any guy's heart unlucky enough to glance a look.
Weiss didn't hesitate to answer. "It could work," she said bluntly.
Yang felt insulted. "Could?"
"If you can make guys swoon over you by wearing that dress, I'm pretty sure Blake would feel the same."
Yang took a second to let it sink in. "Okay. But I need heels."
As if that was her cue, Weiss leaned to the side of her chair, grabbing two dark rectangular boxes underneath and held one in either hand.
"How'd you get those in a short amount of time," Yang asked with a bit of concern.
"Does it really matter?"
Yang did not argue.
Both had the covers removed and placed under their respective box. In one was a pair of pumps in black leather with a small black bow on the front. In the other was a pair of stilettos in black leather.
Yang picked the pumps and donned it on her feet.
Stepping back for Weiss to have a better view, she nodded her head with an approving look.
"Better," she said.
Yang let out a thumbs up and grinned happily.
For Weiss, it was difficult. A couple of white and light blue dresses caught her eyes. She knew Ruby would go red as it is her favorite color, something she does not know why yet being with her for months.
Weiss pondered for a couple of minutes in front of the two white dresses in front of her. It would be nice as it would both compliment herself and Ruby's red dress, but the different style of the dresses is what really irritated her. It wasn't the dresses the themselves, just how Weiss was so indecisive.
She didn't want help. A Schnee does not ask for help, especially something so elementary as picking a dress for a dance.
Yet, sighing in defeat, Weiss called Yang over to her side.
"What do you think," Weiss asked, pointing to the two apparels that were causing trouble.
Yang tilted her head, biding her time to choose the appropriate dress, and pointed the item to the right.
"You sure?" Weiss acted very cautiously. Biting her thumb was a sure sign of being overly cautious or nervous.
Yang glanced a look at the ivory-haired girl. "If there's one thing about Ruby that you need to know, it's about simplicity. Often times you can throw a few style points here and there, but simplicity is important."
Weiss nodded understandably. Making her decision, she grabbed the dress that Yang picked for her. After her turn at trying the dress, along with Yang's massive approval, the two girl's paid a handsome price for their outfits.
"Damn, we spent nearly an hour shopping," Yang exclaimed. The time on her phone did not lie.
Weiss rose her brow. "What do you expect? We are shopping for a dance, you know."
"Yeah, but I only took under ten minutes to pick out a dress. You had all the time in the universe for yourself to look all pretty for my lil' sis," Yang teased, wiggling her brows as if to mean something entirely.
Weiss rolled her eyes, undeterred by the blonde's remarks.
...
The day for the Vytal Summer Dance arrived as intended. Large amounts of preparation were done for the one-night only event. While not as grand as the Vytal Festival itself, the dance was originally intended as a celebration when humanity and its kingdoms finally fell to a comfort of peace from the dark world filled with Grimm and its dangers.
The dance is held annually on every first day of summer, conjoined with other Vytal festivities. Everyone who wanted to participate had to be in formal wear. Every year had a wide selection of music to dance from, but Weiss figured this year's music selection would be no different, which is quite unfortunate from her point of view.
In front of her decent-sized mirror, Weiss stared at her self-image, glaring at the dress she had put on. The hair was done in the same way as before, but this time it was curled delicately. Waves of hair fell above her forehead, lightly falling to place above the right eye. Her ponytail, held by a hairband and a tiara above it, hanged at the center in favor of the usual style, displaying courtesy and respect for the Vytal dance.
She loved the dress. It cut above her chest, hiding the petite size of her breasts and held them in place. The skirt below the mid-waist flowed downwards at mid-calf. Weiss had touched the material of the skirt before she had bought it. It felt like someone had sewed layers of table cloth that felt like silk onto the piece. But Weiss liked it, and she was sure enough that Ruby would love it too. She would probably play around with it if given the chance.
A small smooth rectangular case laid on the make-up desk. Opening it, a string of conjoined square jewels and earrings were inside it. Both accessories had diamonds, smoothed to perfection and shined brightly like a star in the night sky. Weiss coupled the necklace together behind her neck and her earrings afterwards. Weiss grabbed her usual bolero jacket that had the Schnee family logo on the back and donned it on, completing the image of a fairy tale princess perfectly.
And like the usual person she is, Weiss left the mansion hours before the dance started, with good reasons. First and foremost, traffic congestion. Second, she wanted to see Ruby in that red dress. Well, the latter should be the first on her mind but getting there on time was top priority.
But she wondered what kind of dress was it? Velvet? Pink? Weiss scoffed. No way Ruby would've gone for pink.
Her chest tightened. Weiss really wanted to see Ruby.
The view from the side window kept her mind busy. She watched the small mountain range trailed on until it grew smaller and smaller until one significant place stuck out on the slopes of a mountain-White Castle. An old family place from way back when the Schnee had lived up to their name, not to the giant corporation of today.
The ride had finally arrived at the residential district. Ruby and Yang's apartment complex was not the best of all places, but it looked like a good place to live in. The neighborhood around it wasn't so bad either—very few noise complaints.
The driver stopped right at the curb in front of the entrance to one of the main buildings. The door for Weiss had been opened for her by the chauffeur. In a ladylike fashion, she stepped out of the snow-white car and walked towards the buzzer next to the entrance of the building.
The car stayed where it parked, as the four had agreed the month earlier that Weiss would take them to and from the dance.
As expected, Weiss heard that innocent-like voice on the other side of the call.
"Hello," it said, comically drawing out the greeting on purpose.
Weiss smiled for a half-second. She knew that Ruby would know it's her.
"It's Weiss, I'm here. May I come in?"
"Of course," Ruby exclaimed happily. "Just... let me do my hair real quick. Yang will be at the door."
Weiss silently cursed. Of all the people it would have to be Yang at the door.
"Very well," Weiss replied, hiding the malice behind her usual icy tone."You better be ready or I'll leave without you."
Through the door, Weiss marched through the lobby and to the elevator. Pressing the fifth floor button, the elevator arrived its destination no less than ten seconds. Down the corridor, Weiss stood at the white painted door. and gently knocked three times. Her thoughts continuously ran in her head. She made last-minute adjustments to her attire and her overall look, even breathing onto her palm and sniffing it.
No bad breath, okay.
Her hand fell to the side quickly as the click of the locking bolt opened from its place. Her breath held in place as she braced herself for what's to come.
It was Yang. Damn it.
Weiss breathed out, in relief but in disappointment. Yang somehow caught the behavior.
Yang shot devilishly grin at the ivory girl.
"Sad that I'm not Ruby, huh," she teased.
Weiss rolled her eyes. Typical woman.
"Are you going to let me in or not," she intimidated.
Yang fully opened the door, standing to the side while still grinning like an idiot.
Though the small hallway, both girls entered the living room. The television was on, news reports about something in city hall. On the leather couch was a familiar girl, Blake.
She too wore a black dress similar to Yang's but with a sleeve hanging on her right shoulder. Her legs were covered by long black stockings but did not wore any heels, which Weiss assumed she took it off when Blake set foot in the apartment. And of course, there was a black bow lying on her head.
Weiss greeted the Faunus girl, to which Blake returned the gesture.
Facing Yang, Weiss asked one simple question.
"Where's Ruby?"
"In her room," Yang simply replied, her thumb pointing to the general direction behind her.
Weiss didn't say another word and proceeded to Ruby's room, but not before Yang stood before the ivory girl.
"Hang on there, Snow Angel. Ruby will call you once she's ready."
Weiss glared at the towering blonde. She wanted to argue, to see Ruby for all intents and purposes, but for some reason she did not want to. Giving up almost instantly, she retreated onto the leather couch. Weiss went back into her thoughts, blocking out any outside communication.
She felt a small shove on her shoulder. Escaping from her trance, Weiss looked at the source of the touch. Blake was trying to catch her attention.
"Yang is calling you," she said.
Looking at other side, she saw Yang standing in the small hallway to the rooms. Seeing her hand motioning to come over, Weiss stood up immediately and marched. Yang stepped to the side as she walked by, with a happy grin thinking that Weiss would probably have a nose bleed.
Weiss arrived at Ruby's closed room, thanks to the obvious indicator that was Ruby's name on a piece of paper with doodles around it taped onto the wooden door. She knocked and awaited the moment she finally wanted to see.
Weiss could feel her chest fluttering; her mind and body was on cloud nine.
That dress on Ruby fitted so perfectly, oozing beauty and a hint of sexiness. She looked mature for her age, but Weiss knew that child-like attitude was still present inside her.
Weiss was right about one of the colors of the dress being velvet red. What she was surprised was the one-piece Ruby wore.
The creases traveled down from the shoulder strap and the breast cover, meeting at the middle where the mid-line zigzagged down to the waist. The hem fell on the sides like a curtain, straight but ruffled and wavy.
One aspect of the dress that Weiss liked was the shoulder strap was like a shoulder pad but wavy, smooth and polished. Like Blake, Ruby wore stockings as well. It was expected as she would always wear skirts with stockings.
She had a bit of make-up on her face: a subtle blush on her cheeks, fine black lines above the eyelashes, and a beautiful pink-red lip gloss on the lips. It appeared that Blake probably helped her, Weiss concluded, as she immediately recognizing the style.
But the icing on the cake was the rose adorned above Ruby's right ear.
Weiss couldn't take it any longer. Ruby had never looked so amazing and the sight of her was just too much to bear. She might was well just look at Ruby for the remainder of the day and forget about the dance. Hell, screw the dance. She wanted Ruby here and now.
Weiss regained her posture. With a faint smile she managed to greet her... girlfriend. It still felt weird to think her like that after all their time together as a couple.
"Hello," Ruby greeted back. Her smile was still bright as ever. "You look nice, Weiss. Really beautiful."
Weiss tried to think of a response. "T-t-thank you," she stammered. "You too look beautiful. Too beautiful for your own being."
Ruby just chuckled. "I should be the one saying that."
The brunette grabbed both of Weiss' hands. Ruby leaned down slightly to meet Weiss' lips with her own, pulling the girl closer to herself. She held her by the waist as the small kiss that sent both to a blissful state.
Both had pulled away to breathe. Before Ruby managed to continue, Weiss managed to say her part.
"We should get going," Weiss said breathlessly. "The dance will start soon."
Ruby felt a bit disappointed but nodded in agreement. Both girls went from Ruby's room back to the living room where the other two girls were waiting.
Weiss paused for a moment.
"Ruby, wait. Don't you have a jacket that you could bring?"
Ruby grinned. "No. I got you instead."
Yang laughed and Blake just pushed Yang towards the exit.
A blush crept up on Weiss' cheek. She turned around and headed towards the door to the corridor, muttering "Idiot" as she calmly stormed out. Ruby, as happy as ever, skipped behind her girlfriend and put on her heels before heading out.
...
The Vytal Summer Dance was packed. It seemed that almost everyone from the corners of Vale came to celebrate and dance. That of course equates to congested highways and roads to the capital. Weiss and the others had left earlier before the highways become easily clogged up, though they had their fair share of traffic along the way. Weiss was worried that they wouldn't be able to beat the traffic in time to arrive at the dance.
And thankfully they did, an hour before the dance even began.
At Central Park, half of the park was littered with small tents as kiosks for food, accessories, and even games, to name a few. The park itself was surrounded by Vale's tallest condo and hotel buildings, great for those who reserved a room as they can arrive to the festival with a short walk from across the street.
Ruby was amazed how awesome the sight was. The last time she went to the dance was when Yang and herself were still in primary school.
She grabbed Weiss' hand and headed to the nearest kiosk that mainly interested her. Yang and Blake were off to their own business as usual, leaving the two girls to their merry ways of spending time together.
Ruby had stopped in front a cotton candy kiosk. As the first one in the line, she took her time deciding what flavor to get.
"Ruby," Weiss called. "There's a half dozen of flavors. How hard is it to think it through?"
"I'm figuring out what to put two flavors in one cotton candy!"
Weiss furrowed her brows.
"Why? So you can get twice the sugar rush?"
"No, so we can share," Ruby corrected with a smile.
A small flutter crept up in Weiss' chest. Share? Weiss still felt uneasy sharing food with Ruby in public, especially when the young girl tries to feed her.
"Is it possible to do that," Weiss asked the clerk. He simply nodded, pointing to the board that hanged above him. "Oh. Very well then. Ruby, you're paying."
"What?!"
Weiss crossed her arms and looked at Ruby with a stern glare. "You want cotton candy for the both of us, you're paying for it," Weiss simply stated the fact.
Ruby made her puppy-dog pout in an effort to swing the chances her way. Weiss knew what was coming and simply turned her back.
"No Ruby. I will not fall for that."
Weiss felt a pair of arms around her waist, tangling her to a gentle hug. Ruby's head laid against her back, her lips touching the bottom collar of the jacket.
Ruby moaned like a child complaining to its mother. "You should buy it for me."
Weiss was unmoved. "What makes you think that I would pay for a simple treat?"
"You're the one who asked me out to this dance."
"W-what? What kind of an argument is that?"
"Well, you're older than me, have a small job even though you're rich as rich can be, and you're dating me. And did I mention you asked me out to this dance? I've asked you out many times and I paid. So yeah, buy it for moi."
Weiss grumbled in annoyance. Ruby was a clever girl. A dunce at heart, but a clever and creative dunce. Weiss couldn't really win an argument against Ruby at times, and sadly, this is one of those arguments.
"Alright then Ruby."
Weiss walked out of Ruby's holdand approached the clerk, who's halfhearted smile became friendly the moment he saw the ivory girl. Weiss placed her order: one cotton candy with half-strawberry half-vanilla for ten Lein.
In a short minute, the sweetened treat was presented to Weiss. She gave her thanks and held it out to Ruby with small disdain on her face.
"Just this once and only once," she stressed.
Ruby smiled without consequence as her reply. The girl in white sighed heavily.
This is going to be a long night...
The two girls traversed around the park, stopping at many kiosks and marveling at numerous objects and foods that were made specifically for tonight. Ruby made sure that Weiss would occasionally get a piece of the treat that her girlfriend had bought for her.
At half past five in the evening, the mayor of the city presented a small speech, greeting everyone at the dance and thanking the long-remembered hunters and huntresses who helped humanity to be what they are today. A closing statement made by the Beacon Academy's headmaster was short and meaningful. With his closing words, the dance had officially begun.
The upbeat music filled the air and the sea of people began to dance.
Weiss was right. There was barely any change to this year's music. She should have taken her chances to stay at Ruby's apartment and be with her for the rest of the night, but it would possibly be a boring chapter in their would-be night together. But at least they would do something "fun" together.
"Ruby, I would not be dancing to this type of music," Weiss demanded, seeing the crowd dancing so freely and uncivilized.
"Why not? It's Daft Punk! Just be yourself and enjoy the music."
"I am being myself. I simply do not like the tastes these people consider 'music'."
Ruby grabbed the heiress' hands and gently pulled her closer.
"The point of dancing is to be free and expressive, Weiss. C'mon, live a little." With a small smile that a young child would give, Ruby pleaded, "For me?"
Weiss tried to look away but couldn't shake the guilt caving inside.
"Okay Ruby. After this song we can dance."
Ruby fist-pumped in the air, her victory a success. Weiss smacked her in the shoulder in retaliation.
Without a word, the pair arrived at the dance floor as a new song rotated in the playlist, finding a spot without being closed in on.
Ruby knew the song in an instant, and quietly thought up of a way to perfectly end their dance would end.
The slow song started with a symphonic orchestra that had a romantic feel. Lyrics spilled in to the air, spoken in a foreign tongue. Weiss immediately deduced this song was for couples in mind as the occupants on the floor shrank down to a sizable portion.
Ruby lead the pair in a simple dance—no fancy moves, or tangoing on the dance floor. Ruby and Weiss huddled together in each others warmth, their dresses the only obstacle for their skin to feel with one another. Weiss laid her forehead on the brunette's shoulder. Ruby shifted her arms to embrace her partner in a comforting hug, enchanted by the silvery voice.
Their footsteps were small and delicate, moving in rhythm of the strings playing. It was enough to not accidentally tramp on each other's feet, and Ruby's sense of perception around her helped both of them to not bump into the other couples.
Ruby stopped in her tracks and lifted Weiss' chin with her thumb, her own eyes caught staring at the beautiful pair of icy-blue eyes. Her hands moved up to cup those warm and light-reddened cheeks.
When the final words of the chorus were sung, Ruby's lips traveled closer to Weiss' and finally met in a sweet delicate kiss filled with passion and love. Ruby pulled away at the moment the strings played the final note, leaving a sliver of wetness in her wake.
Both gazes locked onto one another. Small blushes crept on their cheeks. Both girls felt perplexed from the very moment their lips had touched in a very intimate and romantic moment.
"Wow," Weiss said lowly. "I don't think I'll be able to ever forget that kiss."
Ruby smiled and hugged Weiss a bit more tighter. "Me either," she whispered into her ear. "I love you."
"I love you too, Ruby."
If anyone's curious about the song that was featured in this story, it's "Con te Partito" by Andrea Bocelli.
And I hoped you enjoyed this as I had making it. Editing it was a pain. I had to do it myself and do it twice, losing the progress on the first one, but I hope it was worth it. I'll edit it a bit more later on when I calm down.
