AN: / Hey guys, here's another installment to P.O.A.L V2. I know you guys have been asking me about if Naruto is going to have the Mokuton kekkei genkai; no he is not. It wouldn't be original on my part, but he will have something that I'm not going to go in depth about. Now on a quick notice, I really wanted to post this sooner but I had to get a new version of Microsoft Office. M.O. 2010 didn't save what I had for this chapter so I got 2013.
Sorry guys, I know you would be mad for a bit and would need a little time to cool off too; besides that, I have to give credit to Digitize27 and my beta Ezra Scarlet. If it haven't been for Digi's masterpiece Sage, (which I highly recommend you read) and my very helpful beta, I would never had been able to break free from the writer's block I had received from not fully knowing what I wanted to do for the story as a whole and not just this chapter so thanks and kudos goes out to them!
Anyway I hope you enjoy what this chapter will consist of as I added my own flavor to this and changed the history of Naruto to my own liking and hopefully…yours.

Chapter 2: Training Days Pt. 1
Four months have passed since Naruto has started his training with Hashirama. And as the Senju expected, Naruto took in everything that he threw at him. Of course he wasn't going into the serious and complex teachings yet since he wanted to refurbish Naruto's fundamentals; so he went with the basics and tackled Taijutsu. At first it was hard for the young Eight year old. His taijutsu was borderline average and below for an academy student. The academy taijutsu style was simple. It was made so beginners could get a good concept of katas and precise movements then later on, they could further improve and make their own style. But Hashirama found out that Naruto's case was special; apparently he never paid attention in class and whenever he did, he practiced alone and relied solely on faint memorization… it ebbed him to no end. To think that someone from Konoha would be this wild saddened him. So the Senju made damn sure to hammer the fundamentals into Naruto and make an example out of him for not studying and paying attention like he should've.
It was a slow process; instead of correcting his katas he wanted Naruto to completely start over and learn a new martial arts style. One that was compatible with him, it was called Kāmunakkuru ken, The Calm Knuckle Fist. How it came to be that taijutsu style was a pretty interesting story to say the least. You see, Naruto knew well that Hashirama couldn't leave the forest after being there for so many years since his recorded death so he had his pupil do him a favor that benefitted the two. A simple infiltration mission was all it was.
"Naruto come over here for a minute." Naruto who was only a few meters away stopped hitting upon the wooden post.
Sweat gleamed off his half naked body, only wearing long baggy shorts with sandals. He treaded slowly over to his sensei completely exhausted. He was in a sense glad; for he got to relax for a few minutes.
"Is there something that you needed Sensei?" Naruto asked politely.
He had learned the hard way not to address the Shodai Hokage with inappropriate manners. He made a point to his student that one of the many jobs of the Hokage is making treaties with foreign delegates from other countries and proper etiquette was a necessary quality. It'd be catastrophic if he called a potential ally out of there name; that person would decline all possible treaties. Once Naruto heard those words he paled as he let his imagination take over. He didn't want that to happen, not while he still wanted to be Hokage.
"As a matter of fact, yes. I have a mission for you to do."
"Wait a mission!" Naruto shouted, literally jumping in excitement, shedding off whatever tiredness that had held onto him after his hard training session.
This was the first time he had the opportunity to do a mission (seeing as how academy students couldn't do any jobs or missions) so you could understand why he was so happy.
'Oh man I wonder what exactly I'm gonna do. Am I gonna save a princess?! O-or stop a huge monster with a cave full of wonderful riches?' Naruto conjured up endless possibilities on what his first mission could be with sparkling stars replacing his eyes. Hashirama obviously saw this and frowned.
"Now hold up Naruto, this mission is going to be simple. So simple that it won't even take you over an hour to complete so you can get rid of whatever fantasy you have going on in that small head of yours.''
"Aw man." Naruto groaned out. He folded his arms above his chest and pouted.
"Fine, you didn't have to burst my bubble." Hashirama took one step forward, gaining the attention of Naruto for a split second and ruffled the little boy's hair.
"Ah, don't worry Naruto when you become a full-fledge shinobi, you'll be able to do all the crazy and exciting missions that there are to offer but now, let's focus on your training. Now if you run into any trouble, pulse your chakra into that necklace you're wearing, and make the Hebi, Saru, Ryu hand-seals in that order."
Naruto indistinctively gripped his necklace he was wearing. Attached to the leather string around his neck was a pebble-sized ruby that Hashi gave him as a gift for his birthday.
"Wait, what type of jutsu is this sensei?"
"It's something that you should only use when you encounter opponents that are far beyond your level. The jutsu itself is a surprise so just let it do the rest alright?" Naruto nodded excitedly.
"Yes sensei."
Hashirama sent Naruto a stern glance. His breath staggered as every muscle and organ in his body tensed and froze up. He only felt this way when Hashirama wanted to make his point clear. Usually the old Shodai Hokage was carefree and relaxed but occasionally showed Naruto a glimpse of his will and reminded the eight year old why he was called the God of Shinobi.
"Naruto that jutsu is a onetime deal; after you use it, you won't be able to do it a second time. It's something only a few people, including myself have been able to achieve and I was able to seal a little of that technique's power into the ruby. The only reason I gave it to you is because I don't know how the village will respond to the infiltration and because... I have faith in my pupil. Understand?"
"Yes sensei." Naruto stood puzzled, not really knowing what to make of what his sensei had bestowed upon him.
One side of him wanted to try to pry more info out of his teacher. It was in his blood to learn and completely master a technique to its full potential, however, he knew best of all not to test the man who could make a forest from nothing and be unfazed.
By the time Naruto had finished preparing for his mission, evening had already hit. He had long since left the forest and returned home after his training and was now gently leaving his house. Pulling out a map, he followed the directions Hashirama gave him. It marked the distance from his house to the destination.
'All I have to do is swiftly infiltrate the Senju compound and retrieve the scrolls he wanted me to get. Sounds simple enough.' He thought.
The Senju Compound was located a little far outside of the village on top of Hokage Mountain and it didn't take long for Naruto to find it. The compound itself was secluded just outside of the dense forest behind it. After the absence of the last living Senju, Tsunade, the place was left alone and since no-one could get in without having Senju blood in them, it was rendered useless to everyone else. But Naruto knew about the ancient blood-connection between Senju and Uzumaki courtesy of Hashirama.
What he found out is that the Uzumaki were distant relatives who broke off from the main faction during the hard Clan War Era to pursue their quest of peace, however, due to their strong mastery over Fūinjutsu and their long life-span, their home village Uzushiogakure (also known as the Village Hidden by Whirling Tides) was targeted and soon destroyed before the new era of the great shinobi villages. So that ruined any chances of his family still living there but he didn't give up hope that there could still be relatives who migrated over the whole continent.
Within reach of the front gate, Naruto pulled out a kunai and slit his hand to let the blood run down the lock. His sensei did warn him about the built in security mechanism what would happen to an intruder; when he heard the clicking of the gate signaling it unlocking, he released a sigh.
"Whew, good thing I'm an Uzumaki."
After opening the gate he dashed through the huge courtyard and the different buildings, he finally found what he was looking for. It was the main manor of the Senju clan – the same manor that Hashirama and Tobirama resided in. Now it was just a matter of getting into the secretive storage basement. The secret basement located in the manor of the Senju family. It was similar to the Uchiha clan's secret room. Once he reached the room he quickly noted that it was relatively small, only about fifteen people could fit, but for Naruto, that fact was irrelevant. What mattered most was what was in the scrolls, the valuable history, and information inscribed into them.
"Amazing." Naruto unlocked and removed the head-covering mask with a black mane, used to hide his identity. He walked around the miniature library and couldn't help but find himself lost.
"Now what was it that sensei said? He told me that the jutsu scrolls were…Bah! What is it that I can't remember?!" He ruminated for three minutes before falling upon a piece of info he forgot.
"Once you find my library, grab all the red colored scrolls on each shelf. They hold more information than everything else in that room regarding Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, and the other arts kept hidden within our clan."
Naruto snickered, mumbling under his breath. "Are you sure those are the scrolls I need? Cause you're way past Old Man Third in the age department and–" he quickly regretted his words and saying even a word once he saw the grin plastered on the Hokage's face.
"What did you say? I don't know if I heard correctly but… I could've sworn… I heard 'I want to do twenty laps around the forest Sensei.' I mean with me being old and–" Naruto profusely waved his arms in front of himself as a trail of sweat drizzled down the side of his face. Gaining a small smirk from Hashirama.
"N-no that's not what I said!"
"Really? Because that's what it sounded like to me."
"No I didn't say anything Sensei!" Hashirama's smirk grew in size at the boy.
Naruto cringed at how sadistic his teacher could be.
'Well, I certainly remembered what he told me.' He thought sheepishly, almost wanting to forget that moment in his life. His sensei was even a bigger prankster than himself, something he'd fear for the coming years.
He scavenged through the shelves, looking for the red scrolls he was tasked to find. Accidentally, he bumped a book off.
"Oops, didn't mean to do that." He reached down to grab it and at first was going to put it back but the beige book in particular piqued his interest and he couldn't help but read it.
"Kāmunakkuru ken… uses different strike methods to temporarily or permanently disable the Muscular and Nervous System functions. Hmm, interesting…" Naruto continued to read over the unorthodox taijutsu styles, completely fascinated by the unique qualities of each of them.
However, he ceased to realize how much time had passed and a mistake he made carelessly. Outside the compound, there was a young boy slowly walking towards the compound doors. As a matter of fact, the young boy was just as old as Naruto. His faded brunette hair protruding in every direction, swayed in contrast to the light breeze that cooled the night. The boy was dressed in a normal gray-mesh shirt that was paired with black pants that cut off just above his ankles and wore the traditional shinobi sandals. This was none other than Shoichi Senju, son of Nawaki Senju and great-grandson to the Shodai Hokage, Hashirama Senju.
Shoichi was very much similar to his father and carried on his idealistic dream to become Hokage and be the pillar of strength that held up Konoha. Shoichi wanted surpass his great-grandfather and make a name of himself throughout the world. In all honesty, he was a spitting image of his father when he was his age. He spoke aloud to himself with excitement present in his voice as he reminisced in frequent memories.
"Oh man, I can't wait to tell dad about the day I had at the academy. He'd be happy to know how I did on my–" Shoichi paused mid-sentence as he stared at the wide open gates to the Senju compound.
'What the… why are the gates open? I know dad didn't leave them open; he's strict about leaving them unlocked, and auntie Tsunade hasn't visited in years so who could…' Shoichi thought to himself, rapidly conjuring up ideas why the gates to his family's compound was open.
He quickly walked through before shortly closing them, he ran throughout the small district into the house his father resided in. His father, Nawaki, was surprised to say the least at the sudden entrance his son displayed. Seeing Shoichi panting and hunched over out of breath, he slowly stood up and walked over to his son. The years had obviously been good on the thirty-five year old man, albeit the fact that back when he was young he was injured in the second war.
To his amazing luck, he survived an exploding trap that had set off and nearly killed him. Although he survived in one piece, he didn't come out completely unscathed. In the process of healing, it was noticed that his Tenketsu had nearly been burned out and rendered him unable to properly perform next to nothing Ninjutsu. But that didn't mean he was useless; over the years of his life, he continuously trained in taijutsu and chakra control exercises. He even took on learning the secret technique of his grandfather's strength and his granduncle's speed making a name for himself throughout the Third Shinobi War as Konoha's Kurosai, or Konoha's Black Rhino.
Had it not been for: the birth of his son, the death of his wife, his sister's departure, and being inactive for so many years, he could've continued on as a feared Jōnin of the Hidden Leaf, but that is a story to be told sometime later, now he had to figure out what riled up his son. He always enjoyed the endeavors his son had at the academy.
"Hey Shoichi; slow down there kiddo. I know you're excited to be home but next time try not to run from the academy all the way here." He chided with a sincere smile. But that quickly changed once he saw the look of urgency on Shoichi's face.
"Shoichi, what wrong?" It took Shoichi a moment to catch his breath and calm down before he continued on.
"Dad…when I got here, the gate was already opened. Someone's here dad… we have to find them before they try to take anything!" Nawaki frowned at this revelation of news. No-one besides him, Shoichi, and his older sister Tsunade could enter. Someone, albeit recklessly, was able to break into the Senju district undetected. For someone to do that…
"Dad," Nawaki was broken out of his train of thought when his son called his name.
"We have to hurry and search the whole compound! We–"
"Calm down Shoichi, you'll stay here." He pronounced only for Shoichi to protest.
"But dad I–"
"No Shoichi, I'll handle whoever it is that dared to enter here. There's no telling who this person is capable of or what his motives are for being here but I'll make sure they won't leave without punishment." Shoichi still wasn't satisfied with his dad's answer.
"Look Shoichi, if I encounter trouble, no doubt other shinobi in the village will be alerted the moment me or the intruder uses a large amount of chakra. So don't worry about me; after all, I'm not a Senju for nothing." He gestured flexing his muscles and caused a smile to escape his lips.
Meanwhile under the Shodai Hokage's former home, Naruto was putting the last red scroll he needed into his backpack.
"Alright, that's the last of them. Now time to leave." He hoisted his bag onto his back and quickly left after making sure he placed everything back where it was to make sure nothing seemed out of place.
Naruto exited the house and headed straight for the gate. 'Odd, I don't remember closing the gate… meh, oh well. Not really anything to worry about now.' He thought.
He was just about to open the gate when the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He paused mid-step and stood that way for a few seconds before turning his head slightly behind him to see the silhouette of a tall man. Inside our blonde ninja-in-training's head, he was panicking. He hadn't expected anyone to catch him before he left the compound. Hell, he didn't expect anyone to be this close to the Senju district at all, but it seemed that Kami had a weird way of showing her humor.
'Damn it! I thought I had a little more time to escape before anyone was even suspicious of me.'
Nawaki stared at the figure in front of him and was puzzled, to say the least. The person he had prepared to fight for intruding into his home was nothing short of anything he had expected.
'This man… no… teen, was able infiltrate my family's compound without activating any of the defensive seals around the perimeter. Either this person had help, or they are not to be taken lightly.' Nawaki narrowed his eyes as he further studied the person before breaking the long silence.
"You know it's not everyday someone skillfully bypasses the protective seals around this compound and enters here without me detecting them. So tell me… who exactly are you?" Naruto stood there for a minute before contemplating exactly what to say to the man before him.
"You know I could ask you the same thing. Who are you."
"Well for your information, I'm Nawaki Senju. I'm one of the last residents of this compound and you," Nawaki pointed, "are invading my home."
Naruto was certainly surprised by that information. The though never came to mind that there'd be any Senju living in the compound, let alone alive, however, he did not react and kept his collected composure.
"Heh, well that's very new. I'd never expected there to be anyone left of the once infamous clan. All you need to know is that I'm no-one of your concern; I'm simply here fulfilling a task, nothing more and nothing less." Naruto spoke.
Nawaki chuckled at him before settling into a stance. "Is that so?"
"That's exactly what I said Senju." The two stood with tension in the air. Nawaki staring at the white mask with red slits for eyes and the black mane that covered the eight-year old's identity and to be honest, Naruto tried his best to sound as devoid of emotion as best as he could. Believe it or not, this was his first time physically confronting someone other than Hashirama. Hashirama taught him to always be wary and cautious of unknown enemies. Most certainly… he knew next to nothing about the man in front of him. He sighed before fully facing Nawaki.
"I guess you won't let me leave and be on my way." Naruto asked, dropping into a stance of his own.
He knew nothing about the Taijutsu stance he took, but he read enough and memorized three katas of the Kāmunakkuru ken, even though they were the advanced forms.
"And I guess that you won't surrender and turn yourself in and return whatever you took."
"Not a chance; I need these scrolls, they're important to me." With that said, Naruto grabbed into his back pocket, digging for something; Nawaki tensed, preparing for the worst.
'What is he grabbing for? Kunai, Shuriken, paper tags, smoke bombs?' Naruto chuckled as he finally grabbed exactly what he was looking for.
It was a book. A plain, beige book that had no title on the front. Naruto chuckled lightly flipping a page.
'I don't think he understands the situation he's in.' Nawaki thought to himself, scrunching down.
He was at the point where he had enough and decided to end it without wasting anymore time than he needed. With an inhale of air going through his nostrils, he disappeared and was upon Naruto the next second. Naruto braced himself and swiftly ducked under a right hook, meant for his mask. Sliding gently to his right, the masked boy clasped the book and slid it back in his pocket. He added a small ounce of chakra to his fist and landed a solid blow to Nawaki's stomach. A smirk grew on his face as he twisted his fist as if turning a key in a door knob.
'I wouldn't just pull out a book for nothing.'
Nawaki's eyes widened as he felt pain in his abdominal area.
'Shit, what the hell is this pain that I'm feeling?'
"Ninpo: Nejireta nakkuru!" (Ninja Art: Twisted Knuckle) Nawaki was suddenly sent flying in the air as the chakra in Naruto's hand was released in a small burst.
Naruto took this chance and back-peddled towards the gate and made an attempt to jump over it, but sadly his opponent wasn't having any of that. Nawaki recovered from the attack and caught himself mid-air then dashed after Naruto. He predicted his opponent's next movement and was already on him.
He proclaimed, "You're not getting away that easily." He appeared behind of Naruto and grabbed tightly ahold of his leg and threw him away from the gate, preventing him from leaving.
"Damn it!" Naruto couldn't help but yell. His body had been tossed back into the courtyard and rolled several times before stopping once his back slammed into a tree.
'This is crazy, there's no way I can beat this guy. But I… I have to try again.' Naruto slowly dragged his body off the ground and stood hunched over regaining his bearings.
Nawaki stood and watched with a small sense of amusement. 'This kid has some spark in him. That Taijutsu style is something else.' He clutched the center of his stomach. 'He locked the muscles inside me and forced me away. With some training... it could make him a dangerous threat to anyone who faces him. I wonder how far he can go…. Let's test him.' With that Nawaki skipped forward left and right leaving glimmers of afterimages behind him.
"Let's see if you can get up after this hit kid." Naruto raised his head just in time to see the first punch Nawaki threw at his Naruto's sternum.
Naruto shot his hand out to grab the older Senju's hand and it worked, but he didn't take into account of the sheer force and power packed behind the fist he had caught and it sent him skidding back into the tree. He gasped out as he was met by the same tree again. He felt the pain that shot up into his left arm.
'Unbelievable! H-he dislocated my left arm and shattered most of the bones in my arm. If that was the result of me just stopping his punch then… I can't let him land a single punch on me. I can't fail sensei, dattebayo!' He thought to himself as he pushed himself up. The Uzumaki spun himself off the tree an avoided a fist. He leapt away just in time to see the tree he was previously leaning on with a solid whole through it.
The older Senju smirked and came at Naruto with untold speed. "Ninpo: Kuro-hōn no Mai." (Ninja Art: Black Horn Dance) Black chakra encased itself around his hand forming the snout of a Rhino with a horn and began his assault on the young Uzumaki.
Punches, kicks, and jabs were aimed at Naruto's various body parts. Each attack was barely dodged by the blonde ninja-in-training and to say the least, he was surprised by this. Nawaki was too.
No-one except for the elites had been able to dodge his Black Horn Dance. The fact that this boy could keep up, even if Nawaki was holding back and testing him, amazed him. Naruto himself felt proud of himself. The fruits of his training had showed but… it wasn't enough. He had to do something else–something more.
He couldn't stay here jumping and diving. He had to leave before his injuries caused him any more problems. Naruto jumped away from his opponent the chance he got and grabbed his left arm. He didn't notice it until now but his arm went numb.
'My arm! I-it's numb. I've lost alot of blood I have to–'
'This boy was able to avoid my technique. That's a feat for someone as young as him but it's time for me to amp it up a little bit. Let's see how he fairs when I increase my speed to high Jōnin level.'
"Playtime is over kid." Naruto had just a brief second turn his head behind him to look to the source of the voice but was too slow to register anything because all he knew was the cringing pain that spread from his stomach all the over.
Now as this was all going on, another confrontation was happening at the same time. It was dark, and ominous. The stain of blood reeked and filled the air just as it stained the earth with multiple corpses laying lifelessly. If you checked every single body you could tell that on each and every one of them were a part of the same clan by the symbol that was present of their clothing. A symbol that was worn in pride with colors of red and white. They were once the thriving and legendary members of the Uchiha clan. Who murdered them? It was one of their own. A prodigy who rose and surpassed many, even by Uchiha standards.
He was none other than Itachi Uchiha.
Itachi was currently standing over his younger brother, Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke was frozen kneeling in front of his older brother. Itachi had just showed him everything he had did. He heard everything. The screams of agony, cries of protests, and the pleas for help.
'Everyone, gone... Teyaki-Jii, Uruchi-Obachan, momma, dad...' Sasuke looked up towards his brother with tears freely flowing down, his eyes were blood shot.
"Why Nii-San, why did you kill everyone!" He demanded. He needed to know.
There had to have been a reason. O-or... he just had to know. Sasuke could only see half of his face as the night wrapped around his very being. Itachi looked down on him with his dead-cold eyes. Eyes that were the color of the same liquid that coursed through his veins. The three tomoe surrounding his pupils spun wildly as he spoke.
"I did it... to test myself." He stated plainly. Sasuke couldn't believe what he was hearing!
His brother killed every single family member just to test his ability? Anger rose up from deep within him. His eyes twisted into a glare.
"Why didn't you kill me like the rest of them and finish off what you started?!"
"Because you're not worth killing little brother. You're hurt, confused, and angry, aren't you?" He proclaimed more than asked. "You hate the fact that you couldn't do anything right? That you were so weak, that you weren't able to do anything. Am I correct?" His younger brother clenched his hands tightly together forming small fist.
"Use that hatred... use it grow stronger, use it to kill the one closest to you to obtain these eyes, little brother; learn everything about our clan. Everything you need will be below in our shrine underneath our house. Then come and kill me once you've reached my level." Itachi turned away from Sasuke shedding only a single tear. He began to walk away. "Goodbye Sasuke."
Sasuke wiped his eyes as tears threatened to fall but he told himself that he wouldn't cry anymore, no. What he wanted... needed, was revenge. His glare intensified as he went after Itachi, but unknown to him his eyes had changed from coal black to blood red with one tomoe in his left eye and two in his right.
"Come back here Itachi, let's end it all now!" He threw two shuriken at his brother; Itachi slightly tilted his head as the throwing stars flew past him. He continued on to his destination not bothered by the nuisance that was his little brother. He jumped onto one of the buildings and began running. Sasuke followed after him. He reached for the kunai and shuriken laying bloodied on one of the rooftops and resumed his mini rage-induced barrage of flying weapons against his brother.
"Don't ignore me bastard!" Sasuke yelled as he flooded his whole entire system with chakra and leapt at his brother. His speed increased tenfold. He was upon his brother's backside in mere seconds, finished performing the hand signs needed. He kneaded the chakra into his lungs; his diaphragm expanded before he exhaled a magnitude of flames.
"Katon: Ryūka no Jutsu!" (Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu) The flames shot out of his mouth, rapidly growing and forming the head of a massive dragon. The dragon roared, soaring at the older Uchiha.
One of the things that was advantage to Sasuke was the amount of free-time Sasuke had and what better way to use that time, than to train in Ninjutsu.
'This was one of the jutsu that I was was going to show dad. Now I'll never have that chance ever again to prove myself to him!'
Sasuke stood panting before falling to one knee afterwards, his vision slowly faded with darkness. All he saw was the smoke rising from where the dragon hit, and to his displeasure, he saw the silhouette of his brother. The smoke lifted and showed a completely unfazed Itachi staring away from him.
'No... I can't let him... leave. N-not like...this.' With a loud thud, the young Uchiha fainted.
Naruto's breath was staggering, he did not know why but his right hand trembled with each step that Nawaki took.
"Playtime is over kid. You've put up a good fight, but it's time to end it." He treaded forward slowly. A soft buzzing sound escaped from his hand encased in chakra.
"It's far… from over, I still have things to achieve, and being defeated in battle by you isn't one of them."
"We'll just have to see about that now won't we?" Nawaki asked as the chakra surrounding his hand grew with the increasing sound. The pace he took to walk towards Naruto grew faster and faster with each step he took.
Naruto closed his eyes as he thought of what his sensei had told him hours prior. 'I guess this is the moment that I use what you intrusted to me, right sensei?' He slowly formed the hand seals used for the forbidden jutsu that Hashirama taught him.
'Alright Hebi, Saru, Ry-" He stopped. Naruto stopped in mid-hand seal, staring at Nawaki as the brunette stood motionlessly. The man stared in the opposite direction, completely dazed.
He tilted his head slightly to the side. 'Wait... why did he stop?' He thought to himself. He turned his head in the same direction of Nawaki's and couldn't figure out what had happened.
'What in the hell could be going on over there? It was faint but... I could've swore that I felt a pulse of chakra. Is somoene in trouble?' Nawaki's eyes scrunched up as he continue to focus in on the chakra signature he just felt. It was a flaw that he didn't like to admit to when asked about it, but sensing chakra really wasn't one of his abilities. But even still, he wasn't oblivious to large chakra outputs, and he wasn't oblivious to the one that suddenly occurred out of nowhere. 'Tch, I'm pretty sure others in the village felt that as well and are heading there immediately... I wonder if it has anything to do with my guest over...'
He looked back towards Naruto... or the spot that he was standing at. A tick mark formed on top of his head as a dummy stood in place of his opponent with a painted smirk and a tongue sticking out at him with the kanji 吸盤.
"Here… That little brat. How did he... sigh, I got carried away again." He walked up to the wooden dummy and shattered it to pieces with a single jab. It was one of those things he constantly did when facing someone. He'd play with them to test their strength. "When Tsunade-neechan finds out about this. I'll just have to make sure she doesn't. Now what was that commotion?"
While Nawaki was focusing in on the sudden flare of chakra, Naruto took that moment to use his natural stealth abilities to escape Nawaki without him knowing. The small boy was already ten minutes away from the Senju Estate snickering with a Cheshire grin plastered across his face.
"Hahaha, I hope he likes that present I left him. Heh, no one can stop Naruto Uzumaki, believe it!"
Flashback end
Hashirama sat in front of one of the trees drinking tea while watching his pupil train. After learning about his endeavor with his grandson Nawaki Senju, he upped his training and hammered the Kāmunakkuru ken (Calm Knuckle Taijutsu) taijutsu style into the boy. The style itself was similar to the Hyuuga's Jūkken (Gentle Fist Taijutsu). The user used knuckle, palm, and double finger strikes to attack the muscles in ones body to disable their opponents movements. In order for Naruto to learn the style he had to study the human anatomy and learn about the three forms of muscle tissue.
After that, Hashi taught him the katas and forms and had him practice them daily until he could perform them at the top of his head. Speaking of which, the blonde ninja-in-training was integrating katas into combos on a wood clone. The clone of Hashirama leapt in the air and came at him with an Axe kick, but Naruto anticipated this. He back flipped once escaping the area that the identical copy of his teacher landed, whose foot made a big rupture and spiderweb-like cracks throughout the earth. The blonde rushed his opponent and led a fury of blows, starting with a palm strike, to knock the wind out of Hashirama.
"Sujiton: Shinkei-kin Setsugō Hakai!" (Muscle Manipulation: Neuromuscular junction breakdown). Blow after blow was sent to Hashirama at precise points.
'Pectoralis Major, External Abdominal, Latissimus Dorsi, Deltoid, Pectoralis Minor, Intercostal, Rectus Femoris, Gastrocnemius, and...' Naruto gave a final thrust and caved four fingers of his right hand into Hashi's stomach. 'Rectus Abdominis!'
"Oof!"
Hashi's clone flew off of Naruto's hand and landed a good ten feet away. The clone tried standing but found that it was impossible to do so. Naruto sighed as he saw the wood replica fail at moving.
"You might as well stop; the more you try to move, the more your muscles will fail." As Naruto explained, the clone couldn't move at all. He struck and weakened its body to the point that it was a living statue. After finally giving up the clone dissolved into wood.
"Good job Naruto. You did well defeating my clone. No doubt that the Calm Knuckle Fist suits you extraordinary."
"You think so sensei?" Naruto asked treading over to where his sensei rested.
"Absolutely. Now today, we'll be learning about your element affinity and practicing a couple of jutsu that I know that will be beneficial for the future."
"Alright! One step forward to my dream. So how do we figure out my affinity?"
"I'm glad you asked." Hashirama walked toward a tree and converted some of the bark into paper. "Here, this is chakra paper."
Naruto tilted his head to the side as he grabbed it. "What's this supposed to do Sensei?"
"It'll tell you which affinity you have. Do you know how the paper will read your chakra?"
"Umm..."
"If it's Lightning, the paper will wrinkle and scrunch up, if it's fire it'll crumble into ash, dampen if it's water, turn to dust if its earth, and split into two if it's wind."
"Oh okay, I get it now." Naruto said; he pumped his chakra into the paper.
'What the?'
"Uh Sensei, did I break the paper or something? I thought I only had one?" Hashirama had to say though, he was astound by what had happened. The paper first split into two pieces. The left side turned into ash, and the right side crumbled up into a wrinkled ball.
'Amazing! Wind, Fire, and Lightning. He's more interesting than I thought.'
"It means you have three elemental affinities Naruto. Most people have one; a few only have two. Usually ninjas who have two affinities, have a Kekkei Genkai (bloodline trait) that allows them to mold those two elements together and form a new element."
"Oh, so it's just like your Mokuton (Wood Release) right?" Hashirama folded his arms nodding his head.
"Exactly, but your case might be special. You have three elements and there's no telling if you can mold them together to make a sub-element."
"Wait, so what would I be able to make out of my three elements?"
"Well... that's a very good question." Hashirama paused. "I don't know about Katon and Raiton, but I'm pretty positive that you could merge Katon with Fūton and Raiton with Fūton."
"Oh, how long did it take you to perfect your Mokuton?"
"It took several years, and that was with me already having mastery over both Suiton and Doton." Naruto sighed in disappointment.
He was anxious to learn more jutsu and become stronger to achieve his goals.
"Don't beat yourself up Naruto. With knowledge and time comes experience and wisdom, just take each step slow and steady."
Naruto nodded, "Understood Sensei. So, which element are we going to start with?"
"Hmm..." Hashirama paced in a circle for roughly about a minute. "I think it'll be best to start with Katon. Out of all three elements you posses, it's the most commonly used element and I just so happen to personally know a few Fire style jutsu."
"Alright then, let's get started!" Naruto shouted.
Hashirama chuckled at the boy and ushered him to follow him deeper into the forest. The last time he had a student so lively was back when he was still Hokage and he had took up three disciples. Out of the three of them, Hiruzen Sarutobi was the most talented and was a natural vacuum for everything he and Tobirama threw at him. The two were alike in more ways than one.
'Heh, Naruto reminds me so much of my former student. Now let's see how long it takes for you to learn the elements.'
1 Year Later...
"Alright class, today we'll be taking a quiz over what we discussed last week." One of the students blurted out.
"Awe but Iruka-Sensei it's not even Friday, why do we have to take a quiz today?"
"Because I want to be sure that you're already prepared for Friday's quiz and to see that you're not slacking off. Anyway, before I hand out your quiz, I want to make an announcement." He paused, making sure each and everyone of his students had their eyes on him. "Starting today we'll be having a new student transferring from class 2-C." Iruka walked towards the door and opened it.
"Come on in."
A small boy around the same age as most of the kids in the class walked in wearing nothing but a simple gray mesh shirt with matching tan shorts. But what caught Naruto's attention was the headband he wore and the symbol embedded on it.
'Wait a minute... that's the Senju Clan's symbol! So that means he's...'
"Hi everyone, my name's Shoichi Senju and I'm glad to be apart of your class. I hope to graduate here with everyone and make some friends."
"Okay then Shoichi, go ahead and take a seat. We'll discuss what you'll need to do for the test on Friday after class."
"Yes sensei." The young Senju walked up the stairs dismissing the glances he received from the students and sat on the left side of the room, second seat from the top row. The students conversed to each other in whispers for various reasons.
"Why did they let a first year transfer into class?"
"Did you hear his surname? He's a Senju!"
"I heard that he's the great-grandson of the Shodaime Hokage."
"He's kinda cute, I wonder if he has a girlfriend."
"Alright class, quiet down now." Naruto drowned out Iruka's voice with his own thoughts.
'Hashirama-Sensei said that I'd need to look up on more Raiton jutsu. That means that i'll have to...' His face formed into a frown, 'Go to the library, but I guess that means that I'll get to see Nanami-san.'
"Psst. Psst." Naruto turned his head behind him to see Shoichi leaning down. Naruto whispered to him, asking what his new classmate wanted.
"Hey your name is Naruto right?" Naruto nodded.
"Cool, so is Iruka-sensei always this talkative?"
"Heh, yeah he is, if you already know the history and the technical blubber then you're fine."
"Nice; thanks for that information."
"Anytime."
RIIING!
"Okay class, looks like the bell saved you this time. You won't have to take that quiz today, but don't think that this means you shouldn't be prepared. Remember that in the line of battle, with a foreign ninja from another village, he or she won't wait for you to be ready to fight and won't hesitate to strike in an instant. Understood?"
"Yes Sensei." The class chorused in unison. Everyone stood up and grabbed their bags and began to exit. Naruto left and followed in the direction that everyone went. He traveled down the corridors of the academy and was set on heading to the library.
"Hey Naruto, wait up!" Naruto shifted his head in the direction he heard his named called. It was none other than Shoichi. Shoichi ran up to him slightly out of breath.
"Hey Shoichi, is there something you need?"
"Yeah, um... I was wondering if you'd like to be friends and if we could go spar at my clan's training grounds." The brunette held out his hand with a light smile on his face.
To say the least Naruto was surprised. Here was the enigma Shoichi Senju, a boy who he barely even knew and haven't even known about until today, coming out of the blue asking if he could be friends. Naruto shook his head and beamed at Shoichi and shook the other boy's hand firmly.
"Of course we can be friends. How about we train tomorrow after school?"
"Yeah, sounds like a plan. Hey there's my dad! Let me introduce you to him." Naruto waved his hands in front of him.
"Oh, uh, I-I don't want to be a bother. I'm sure he's a busy man."
"Come on Naruto. He's friendly! He'll be happy to meet my new friend." Shoichi dragged Naruto to where he saw his dad. Unknown to him, Naruto was crying out, shedding tears.
'Man, oh man. Why do I get myself into these situations?' Naruto snatched his hand from Shoichi's firm grip, mumbling under his breath. Naruto looked up at the man that stood in front of him arms folded laughing at the scene.
"Well, it looks like my little boy has a new friend." Nawaki held out his hand to Naruto. "What's your name little one?" Naruto, still mad about being dragged towards the older man frowned at Shoichi who laughed weakly. The blonde grabbed the hand and shook it.
"The name's Naruto Uzumaki. I'm glad that I get a chance to meet the grandson of the Shodaime Hokage."
"Ho-ho-ho! I'm surprised they teach that information in the academy."
Naruto shook his head in disapproval, "No, Iruka-Sensei didn't teach that to us. I got this book from the library about famous shinobi from your grandfather, up to... Hatake Kakashi. I think that's his name." Nawaki nodded.
"Your right, his name is Kakashi and is one of the strongest Jonin in the village. I'm curious. Why that book out of all the scrolls and books on jutsu that you could've learned?" Naruto shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess you can say that curiosity got the best of me. I find that learning about the different shinobi in the world and their abilities is interesting."
"Ah I see, that's a very valuable asset. That information will come in handy when you're out on missions and you come across a ninja. Maybe you should take up on Naruto-kun's hobby Shoichi." Shoichi groaned in protest and grabbed his dad's shirt getting his attention.
"Dad, can Naruto come over to train with me tomorrow?"
"Sure, if it's okay with him."
"Alright! We'll see you tomorrow Naruto."
"Yeah see you then." With that said, the nine-year old boy left to journey on to the library. Walking with his son, Nawaki looked back watching his son's new friend treading in the opposite direction.
'So... he's the young boy that carries the Nine-tails inside him. He's nothing like the image as everyone describes him. It sad that such a small child has to endure the resentment that the villagers has towards him because of what happened nine years ago. He's strong though. But I don't know though... for some reason, it feels as though I've met him before."
Naruto was at the library and was currently looking for Nanami. "Where is she?" Naruto had already grabbed the scrolls that held the instructions for nature manipulation for Wind and Lightning, and some Katon jutsu for him to learn but, something just felt off. Usually, Nanami would be there to greet him whenever he searched for more information and she'd never been gone so, it just felt foreign for him to not see her at the library. He figured he'd investigate and find of from one of the other library attendants.
"Um, excuse me?" He softly spoke to the women placing scrolls away on the shelve and reading at the same time.
"Be quick about what you want and tell-" As soon as she looked up and saw that the young boy who interrupted her was none other than Naruto, she quickly sprouted a bright smile. "Oh... Nanami's boy."
Naruto scowled at the woman, her name was Kea Omujo. He always disliked her, since the day he met her he just got bad vibes about her. The way she always smiled creped him out and reminded him of the old Japanese folk tales that Shikamaru told him and his friends one afternoon as they skipped class. The way Shikamaru described the events in vivid detail scarred Naruto. Ever since that day Naruto's been scarred of anything dealing with the supernatural. And he felt like she was a supernatural creature out to take his soul with her deadly grin. Oh the imaginative ideas that flowed through his mind.
"Yes it's me. Can you tell me where Nanami is?"
She chuckled at the boy. "No, sadly I can't, my guess is that she's sick today. I'd suggest coming back tomorrow if you really want to see her." Kea propped the book back up and continued placing the books and scrolls on shelves, "Now if that's all you need then I'll be on my way." Before leaving him, she ran her fingers through his hair, electing a dissatisfying groan from the blonde.
"Bye Naruto-chan." She giggled, leaving Naruto in thought about her health.
"Tch, crazy librarian." He was mad. The real reason he went there was to spend time with Nanami and it seemed that she wasn't there, and to add on to his stress he had to deal with the crack-happy librarian, as he called her. He took the books and pocketed them in his bag. He intended to go to Hashirama and ask for insight on this issue on crazy people and their mental states. He walked out of the library into the night mixed with shades of purple and indigo strolling down to central district, the district that housed apartments such as his.
It was a beautiful sight to behold; to see the vibrant colors dance around the sky, the dancefloor, without a care in the world.
"The sky is blazing tonight. I wonder if sensei can see this." He muttered. His eyes were in a daze, rummaging around from building to building. He loved nights like these. With no worries at all. Everything was going perfectly for the first time in his life. He finally has someone who saw his worth - someone who saw him for who he was.
Naruto made his way through the streets, heading home, plundering himself on top of his bed. With a happy sigh, he drifted off in to the land of dreams.
END
AN: / Hey guys, I decided to take out the part with the Anbu and save that for another time so that means that the Training Arc will take a little bit longer. Which I know that you guys won't mind. I'm pretty sure that you guys prefer quality chapters than rushed, crappy ass chapters. Also i'll be putting this story at the end of my update story list and will update other ones as I work on this one.
AN 2:/ Yes! Finally I'm finished with this chapter and I reached my goal and made this a whopping 9.6K Words! I'm excited to say that with this chapter over I'll be able to move on and really establish a new and different purpose for Naruto. Now the next chapter will consist of Naruto's growing and developing relationships with the characters and his conflict on when he'll leave the village. By the end of that chapter he'll be out of the village as a free man and will open doors to new adventures and that's when we'll start getting to the fun, exciting, and adventurous side of the story, but on a very quick note.
Naruto won't be super strong and won't win his battles all extra easy. Don't get me wrong, he'll have a small arsenal of jutsu under his belt and will give even high Chūnin a run for their money (as he should, being trained by the First Hokage) but the fact remains that he's still very young and that he has a lot of room to grow and also the fact remains that he has no battle experience whatsoever besides the spars he has with Hashirama. I just wanted to establish that before anyone said anything and started something unnecessary that would leave a bad taste in either of our mouths.
Another thing! For all of my fans who are wondering about Rebirth of the Uzumaki Clan, that story is up for adoption. I had previously adopted the story from SoulReaperCrewe and after posting two chapters I had begun to encounter problems so I'm working on finding a suitable person with great skills to take it off of me and continue to make it into a fantastic story that it should be.
I know I just spewed a mouthful and left some of you dizzy but, hey! What are you gonna do! (/°ᴗ°)/ Haha! Well I'm signing off to rest and write out what the next chapter is gonna be so anyway god bless, review, PM questions, share this story to a friend, and enjoy!
