Chapter 5
*..*..*..*..*
Those deep lavender eyes were looking at Yuuki, making her doubt the difference between reality and imagination. Is Zero alive? Alive and calling her? Looking at her? Is it her imagination playing a cruel game with her?
Yuuki unconsciously held zero, hugging him. She didn't care if it was an illusion. 'Zero's alive' she wanted to grasp that with all of her might even if it resulted in a worse hurt later, even if it wasn't real. She cried; afraid it would be an illusion!
''are you alive?'' she whispered. She was afraid of the answer, but his heart beat against her chest made her a bit relaxed although that too may not be a reality.
"I'm... fine…" confusion hit Zero… what was happening?
The smell of her blood awakened his vampire sense. 'Is she hurt?' he wondered, intending to push her away in order to check on her, but she wouldn't budge.
'Why do I care?' he asked himself, giving up on trying to check on her... he looked at the high cliff…and it returned to his memory.
`I jumped... after her? ` He doubted himself, and then it occurred to him. He did jump after her. He didn't want her to die. He couldn't kill her!
Yuuki released him in order to confirm her doubts. She ribbed his shirt open, and checked the wounds. They were healing, almost completely closing.
She got perplexed. She didnt know how. She didn't care how. A miracle… it's a miracle.
She hugged him again and said with a deep voice filled with pain yet it had a relief into it: "nothing changed, I'm still the same Yuuki within, and this Yuuki can`t live without you!"
She pushed herself away from him slightly in order to look at his face. To her shock, he seemed somewhat angry, and deeply sad. Once Zero noticed Yuuki's pained gaze, he averted his eyes without giving Yuuki a chance to figure out what the look in his eyes means.
It`s her smell… the smell of a pure blood… it brings all terrible memories back to his mind… all the nightmares returned to him so clearly..
Yuuki stood up with a pained expression on her face. She was looking at Zero who was sitting blankly next to her. Of course, her wound hurt, but that wasn`t why she seemed in pain. it was her heart
`Who am I kidding? I`m a pureblood…he can never withstand me`Yuuki thought as she took a step to walk away. A bitter smile appeared on her face; at least he's alive.
She swayed; her fragile body couldn't take the blood loss, but then… something pulled her. She fell on Zero's lap.
She was puzzled, what does he want? He cupped her cheeks with his hands and looked at her teary eyes.
Both of their hearts were aching. Zero wasn't looking at the pureblood in front of him. He was looking at the girl inside her. She said she's still the same Yuuki.
Even if she's not the same Yuuki, his heart said so. His heart couldn't let go of her. He wanted to believe it's her.
He is always blinded by grudge against purebloods. It still lingers within him, but somehow. The grudge that built within him over the years, couldn't win over this love. The fact that he jumped after Yuuki proved this even if he didn't want to believe it.
"Don't… leave me"
Yuuki was taken aback. The look in zero's eyes seemed that look of the lonely child that Kaien took in. the child she fell for, the child she needed to embrace.
She didn't know what he is thinking or what she should think, but her hands automatically, unconsciously, embraced his body.
Much to her daze, he embraced her too.
Feelings battled within her. She instantly cried. Just how much she missed this embrace!
Zero, began to cry too. His thirst for her blood, his hate for her blood, none of them could overpower how much he misses his Yuuki. His hug only grew stronger with time.
Kaname, who was observing from afar, felt his heart rip to pieces.
He thought it over, and realized how Zero returned to life. He 'ate' his twin. The curse of the twin was to make one of them weak, but if they rejoined again, it would make him stronger
If they were one body, perhaps they would be able to give each other a new life. Zero's survival is thanks to Ichiro.
Kaname observed as Yuuki held tighter onto Zero. He averted his eyes, he couldn't look much longer. He felt unbearable pain taking over him.
From the very beginning, he knew Yuuki's heart belonged to Zero.
When she moved into his castle, it seemed against her will although she said otherwise. She seemed scared of her own self.
The more the time elapsed, the more she seemed lonely and sad. Although she always smiled at him, he could see the brightness her smile carried fade.
For a selfish reason, he was relieved that yuuki and zero became enemies. He was lonely. He wanted to hold the only person that made him feel needed, he wanted to protect her.
But then, he realized he was breaking her instead of protecting her.
He wanted to pull her out of Zero's grasp, he wanted to lock her up and have her for himself, but he knew he wouldn't withstand the lifeless look on her face if he did that.
He wouldn't withstand it, if she began to hate him
However, he was suffocating. He wanted to disappear.
*..*..*..*..*
"What does my little Yahiro want to eat?" Yuuki said while tickling the five year old child in front of her.
"I'm not hungry" Yahiro said between his giggles. And then his stomach growled, exposing his lie.
"Why are you lying? Lying is bad!" Yuuki scolded.
"I'm back" the silver haired man entered the room. Yahiro stood and leapt into his arms. Zero smiled and picked him up.
"Don't spoil him when he just lied. He said he doesn't want to eat when he's hungry!" Yuuki stated.
"Lying is bad Yahiro!" Zero rebuked.
Yuuki took of Zero's coat and went to hang it in their room. Meanwhile, Zero said:"I understand why lied. It's the only way to survive, isn't it?"
Yahiro nodded, a sweat drop rolled down his temple as he imagined Yuuki's dishes.
Zero chuckled at his son's cute, terrified face.
"I heard it all, so you two want to die" Yuuki emerged from the hallway. She didn't go anywhere.
She ran towards Zero, and pushed him with his coat towards the sofa that was behind them.
He and Yahiro fell on the Sofa. She was laying on Zero. She instantly blushed.
"I'm here" Yahiro stated.
Zero looked at him and said:"of course you're here!"
"When mama and papa look at each others' eyes, they forget I'm here" he pouted as he talked.
Yuuki carried him lifted him in the air, saying:"it's just your father is so charming! But you are cuter than him so you always sleep between us"
Yahiro giggled in the air while Zero had a genuine smile on his face, a smile that never left his face after marrying Yuuki.
