CHAPTER 6

As they walked back awkwardly in the general direction of the park, Judai felt his insides turn into butterflies. Why did Yusei kiss him? And even more so, why did he like it so much? Not that he was protesting, but aren't you normally supposed to only kiss family members? And even then, he would only ever do it on the cheeks. Why else would he have done it?

''Oh my god Judai, you are so clueless.'' Yubel supplied, making Judai just as confused as before. It seemed she knew something about why he did it, more than himself.

"Remember that whole fiasco with Alexis you told me about? I have this suspicion that that's the kind of kissing he is interested in. You two have been jumping around each other the whole time you were together, and it hasn't even been a week." Yubel sighed. "Really Judai, take a hint."

He was silent for a moment, contemplating what she said, when suddenly it clicked. Slowly a redness started to appear in his ears, spreading to the rest of the face.

''What?!" He, not so softly, whispered out loud. Looking at Yusei from the corners of his eyes. It seemed as if Yusei was doing his absolute best to keep his eyes straight on the road, if the nervous gestures were anything to go by. "What should I do?" Judai and Yusei thought simultaneously. Stuttering, Judai suddenly felt like he had to say something. Anything to fill the silence.

"I… uh..." He stammered, fidgeting with his hands. Looking to the side, they made eye contact. My god, Yusei was looking right at him. Licking his lips, he thought about what to say.

"I'm sorry about… before. I know I can ramble on and on and on…" Judai looked to away, as he didn't want to face Yusei. Really, what do other people to in these types of situations?

Then he spotted something. Freakin Pharaoh decided so show up, sitting there all smugly, at the side of the road, licking his front paw. He didn't hear Yusei's answer, and the boy was cut short when Judai started running.

"What...?" Came a grasp from Yusei, looking where subject of his admiration was jumping off to, when he spotted the cat as well. Jogging behind the other boy, he saw Judai pick up the cat and scolding it for running away, AGAIN. Now with the cat safely tucked back into his backpack, Judai turned back to Yusei. It was almost comical, you could see the sweat drops form on his forehead, the stuttering from the brunet not helping to mask the awkwardness. Yusei wanted to repeat his answer from before, telling Judai that he didn't have to worry, when a burning in his arm distracted him. It was the Crimson Dragon, telling him to hurry it up. Judai saw the arm glow as well, fully knowing what it meant.

"Come on, it's only a little while more to the park, we're almost there." He smiled sadly. They walked the rest of the way in silence, both thinking about the very same thing. Yusei would leave and they will probably never see one another again. They were from different times after all. After what seemed like the shortest, and yet the longest walk ever. Yusei retrieved his bike from the bushes, dusting it off in the process. Stalling a bit for time, Yusei took longer than needed, flicking off every part of dust that he could find. But it was time.

"I guess this is goodbye" He said, turning to Judai.

"…Yeah" The other boy said, eyes down-cast, as he rubbed his neck in an awkward gesture. He just looked so sad, trying to mask his disappointment, Yusei could almost not bear to look at him. Coughing, Yusei felt like he had better give the best goodbye speech he ever made.

"Judai, having really enjoyed my time with you, and I'm sad that this must come to an end. I value our friendship, and I'm sure it will transcend time. I will never forget you, nor Yugi-san." Yusei said, offering his hand in a similar fashion as he did the day before. Judai looked at this sadly, as he took the gloved hand and gripped it. Meeting his eyes, Yusei continued his speech.

"I guess this is time to say goodbye, I hope we will meet again." He said, looking down, not wanting to let go of the others hand. When suddenly he felt something warm. Judai was giving him a peck on the cheek, and shaking his hand firmly.

"Yeah. I really hope so too." Stepping backwards, Judai let Yusei go. Giving him a smile, he gestured to the bike. The blue haired boy put on the helmet with some hesitation as he finally got on the vehicle, giving the brunet one last glace. Their goodbyes were already said and done, there was nothing more to say. Turning his back on Judai and starting the engine, he thought he heard his name being mumbled behind him.

Whipping his head around, he saw that Judai stepped closer, tugging on Yusei's jacket.

"I don't want you to go…" Came a soft whisper.

Looking determined, Judai took a deep breath. And were those words divine. He'd never been happier than after hearing the next sentence out of the brunet's mouth.

"Can I come with you?"

".."

"…."

"….."

Thinking for a moment, shocked with surprise, Yusei decided. For once in his life he chose to be selfish. Hell yeah he can. And he smirked, holding out his hand and offering him a spot on the bike. To hell with space time continuum. To hell with the rules. This was his moment, and if he wasn't going to grasp the opportunity with both hands, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

"I thought you'd never ask."

Hey everyone, this is the final chapter for this story. I hoped you all enjoyed. I grew as a person, so much time went by, but I did say that one day, I WILL finish it. And here you go. I hope it was worth the wait.

I've been thinking about this story for a few months already, delaying to actually write it, because it felt like the story was in control, and not me. But I had a great time, and the last chapter just flew out. I stopped judging myself for every sentence and just wrote, not looking back. And I think it's alright for my first 1k work+.
