Chapter Three of Knight of the Wind.

Sorry if I haven't updated on this story for awhile, many of things have come to me at the same time, so I'm trying to get use to it and try to find a good schedule for writing my stories. But anyway,

I know that this is a tad different of what I do, pairing up the characters with my OC, but I thought that this will be cool to discover and I wanted to test it out.

I am making the cover for this fanfiction right now and it will be posted, I don't know when.

Like I said, I will get to 'Hope is All I need' as soon as I can, so don't worry, my peeps!

Here we go!

Ch. 3: Painful Past Memories

Bunny hummed in his sleep; the sun shining through his eye lids and making it somewhat difficult for him to fall back asleep. So as hard as it was, Bunny fluttered his eyes open to wake up.

He was in the guest room of the the workshop at the North Pole. How he got here, he didn't know. That is until something shifted on the sheets beside him. He looks down to find Wind, who had his head resting on his chest and was fast asleep; his ears folded against the back of his head. Ever since the reuniting between him and Wind, he hasn't left his side which he was very grateful for of the Pooka Dragon.

Bunny slowly stroked the top of Wind's head; making the dragon purr in his sleep. Wind started to open his eyes and sat his head up; glancing at his rider. Bunny smirked and stroked Wind's head again.

"Hey, Wind..." Bunny said; watching his dragon lean into his touch and purred in content. "Hey, bud..."

Wind slowly got off of his rider so that he can sit up properly. Wind hurred at him, then placing something on his lap and sat by the side of the bed. It was a tray that was filled with vegetables, mostly carrots and a small side of salad that also came with a glass of water. Bunny glance at the tray, then at Wind. Bunny smirked.

"...ya made tha yetis ta make this, did you?"

Wind had a satisfied smile on his face and nodded; pleased that he managed to convince them in his own way to make a healthy meal for his rider. He laid his head down beside his rider as he ate.

"Did I fell asleep an' ya carried me here?" Bunny asked; earning a nod from the furry dragon. Bunny strokes Wind's head, which a soft purr was heard from the furry Pooka Dragon.

"I don' know what woul' happen if I didn't met ya that day, Wind." He said, making the dragon look at him. He can feel the pain within him and nuzzled his cheek, a comforting purr escaping from his throat.

A knocked was heard.

"It's open."

It only revealed to be Jack Frost. "Hey, you feeling okay, Cotton Tail?" Jack asked. Bunny sighed, pushing his empty plate aside. "Yeh, fer now." He said, Wind looking at him. Jack only shrugged and walked inside of the room.

"So, how was the first flight after for so long?" Jack asked, smiling as he sat on the edge of the bed. Bunny could only smile softly and scratched Wind's ear, earning a loud purr from the furry dragon. "...it felt good...after fer so long...I still got it-"

Wind snorted, an eye raised with an unamused look.

"Sorry. WE still got it." Bunny said, which earned a satisfied smile from the dragon. Jack chuckled. "Geez, you two are so alike." He said, which Bunny rolled his eyes but there was a smile on his face. "He kinda rubbed off on me." He said. Jack never thought that he missed out on so many things on Bunny. He wanted to learn more about him.

"Hey, Bunny?"

"Yeah, kid?"

Jack took a deep breath. "If you are, well...what ever you said-"

"Pooka." Bunny interjected, already not liking where this was going and was now getting agitated with the winter spirit, which Jack held his hands up.

"Hey, I'm not trying to offend you, okay? I just want to ask you something." He said, which Bunny sighed and rubbed a tired paw over his face. "Fine, what do ya want ta know."

"...how did you become a Guardian?"

Bunny seems to still at that, his eyes wide with shock and his whole fur seemed to stand up. It has been forever since someone answer that question. The others knew about his past and yet...he didn't have the heart to tell the new member of the Guardians of Childhood. He doesn't think that he can't handle it. He had it worst than any of the other Guardians and he didn't want to scare him, or yet scarred this child for life of the experience.

"L-Listen, Jack. I-I don' think yer ready ta listen ta that yet." He said, avoiding the teen's gaze, his voice filled with emotions. Jack stared at him surprised, seeing the Hope Guardian's ears go flat against his head. "Bunny-"

"Jack, please...yer not ready..."

Jack sighed sadly, seeing that it bugged him badly when he brought it up. "Bunny...I'm over three centuries old. Please, the others told me of how they become Guardians and I try to ask them how you became one, but they keep telling me that the only one that will tell me that is you." He said. Bunny sighed. He wasn't going to let it go.

"...ya sure you think you can handle it? It's worse than tha others, mate." Bunny warned him. Jack nodded, getting himself comfortable position on the bed. Bunny sighed.

"Well, you already know about me coming from another planet, right?" He asked, earning a nod from winter spirit. Bunny sighed, now starting. "Well, it all started when I was on tha planet, doin' my usual training..."

Bunny sighed as he made gentle movements with his training, on a tree stump as he maintain balance. He breathed in through his nose, then breathed out through his mouth.

"Inner peace..." He whispered to himself, his eyes closed as he stood on one of his hind leg, doing a crane stance as he focused on his breathing-

He was suddenly tackled from the side. "GAH!"

He lands on the grassy field and when he was about to yell at the Pooka that interrupted his training, he only saw a black and grey Pooka with blue-green eyes. He smiled. "Loretta. I told ya ta not sneak up on me when I'm training." He laughed, turning on his side and smiled at her since he was on top of her. She laughed and touched noses with his.

"What? I can't say hello to my fiance?" She asked, smiling. He chuckled and kissed her cheek. "Well..."

"Don't you DARE finish that sentence!" She said, but there was a smirk on her face and he laughed. "Who said that I was goin' ta?" He said, smiling at her. Loretta smiled and hugged him tightly around his neck, which he wrapped an arm around her waist, smelling her cherry blossom scent on her fur. "You're always out here, training." She said as Luna, her Pooka Dragon went to visit Wind as he was laying in the grass.

She had black fur and has blue eyes and her markings were swirls like the fire and sun, since she is a light enhancer while Wind was a wind enhancer. Luna laid next to Wind and licked his furry, cheek, earning a soft purr and nuzzled the black furry dragon's cheek in gratitude.

They were not the only ones that were bounded to another other than their riders that are now engage.

"I had ta keep myself in shape, love." Bunny said, smiling, stroking her furry cheek, which she smiled. "I know, but you never take breaks or anything. That's why you need to relax. Please...for me?" She asked, giving him the look, her ears tucked back, but she had a shy smile on her face. Bunny could never resist that look she always gives him and he chuckled.

"Alright, I'll relax with ya." He said, his paws around her waist, which her smile widen and nuzzled him, rubbing the top of her head under his chin, starting to purr, which Bunny did as well.

He closed his eyes and sighed in bliss, holding his fiance in his arms.

"Wait...YOU HAD A FIANCE!? AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME!?" Jack asked, trying to get all of this in. Bunny sort of glared at him, his ears flat against his head.

"Yeah, an' don't get use ta it. She was tha most beautiful Sheila in tha tribe an' every male falls head an' heels over her." He said, which Jack held his hands up in defense.

"I'm not saying anything bad against it. I just never hear you mention her before is all." Jack said.

Bunny's heart pained at that and he sighed deeply.

"...that's because she died many years ago...includin' my entire clan...long way befo' you were born as a mortal." He said, sighing while adjusting himself against the bed, which Wind looks at him and laid his head down against his rider's lap, which Bunny started to stroke the dragon's head. Jack's eyes were wide with shock.

"...they died? What happened?" Jack asked. Bunny sighed, his ears flat against his head.

"...Pitch didn't use ta be bad. He was once a warrior named Kozmotis Pitchiner and his assistant was Osoreru. They stayed at the clan fer a few nights and Kozmotis didn't know that Osoreru was studyin' a certain magic that is forbidden to all; Black Magic."

"Black Magic? Why was it forbidden?" Jack asked, never hearing about this type of magic before.

"Because it does death an' death alone. Black Magic controls your mind and it will take control of ya if ya study it fer too long. It got control over Osoreru an' he used it ta make shadows control Kozmotis ta turn him inta Pitch Black...they're both tha reason why I'm tha last of my clan. They killed my parents, my siblings...an' Loretta...when she was pregnant with my child." He said, sighing sadly and had a sad look on his face.

He could still remember the fire burning his home down and the screams of the Pooka's...and his fiance' dying in his own arms.

"Please, don't do this, Loretta!" Bunny begged, holding his fiance' in his arms as she had a gash where her heart was and she just only smiled weakly at him, placing a weak paw against his cheek.

"I-It'll be...alright, love...I'll...always be with you..." She said, gasping, her eyes now turning pale. Bunny shook his head and held her closer. "No, don't talk like that. W-We're goin' ta patch ya up...an' you'll be fine. Don't do this ta me, love...please..." Bunny begged, feeling tears rolling down his furry cheeks.

Loretta only smiled and kissed him on the lips, which he did without any hesitation. "...I...love...you..."

She then took one last breath, her paws and her whole body went limp in his arms. He started to sob into her fur, the love of his life gone forever.

Jack felt bad for Bunny of what he went through. "...How long were you...?"

"...Five centuries."

Bunny was surprised when he suddenly felt thin arms wrapped around his neck. He looks to see Jack hugging him tightly, his face buried into his furry shoulder. "...I'm sorry...I didn't know-"

"No, ya don't have ta apologize." Bunny said, interrupting the winter spirit, but wrapping his arms around the teen. "...I didn't want ya ta know because I didn't think that you'll be able ta handle of my past. I...was tryin' ta protect ya. Yeah, you annoy me, but that doesn't mean I care about ya. I kept my past from ya until you were ready ta hear it." Bunny said, but he had his ears flat against his head.

But Jack shook his head and tighten the hug. Bunny felt something wet land against his shoulder and he sighed, starting to rub the teen's back. "...I'm sorry, Jack...I didn't mean ta make ya upset." Bunny said, holding Jack closer to him.

"It's...it's just not fair...that you had to hold that for so long...and you never let anyone help you carry that burden or even try to help you." Jack said, clenching his eyes shut.

"Snowflake, there's nothin' you or tha Guardians could do. It's in the past and nothing can bring them back, so I have ta move on an' think of tha future here on Earth. I mean, sure, I miss everyone, but that doesn't mean that I have ta be mourn forever. I have a new life here, protectin' children with Hope as a Guardian, an' I sorta have a family, so ta speak. You may not know it, Jack, but I think of ya an' tha others as family ta me. Sure, yer a pain that I want ta strangle ya so badly." Bunny commented, which made Jack snort at that and Bunny smiled, rubbing his back. "But, that doesn't mean that I don't care about ya."

"But what you said on that Easter...and the Blizzard of '68-"

"It's in tha past, Jackie...let bye-gones be by-gones." Bunny said again.

Jack smiled and hugged him tighter. "...sure thing, Cotton Tail."

After some time, he let's Jack pull away. "So, how did Manny chose you?" Jack asked, which earned a chuckle from the Pooka warrior. "After I left tha planet with Wind, I set Wind free an' he lead North ta me on an island. He kinda helped me until I got back on my feet again an' when I saw the battling Fearlings, I could've turned around an' just walked away,...but I had hope ringing up in me an' I helped them. Manny saw this an' made me immortal an' The Guardian of Hope an' also announced me as tha Easter Bunny." Bunny said, shrugging.

"...Wow..."

"Yeh, I wasn't sure of it as well at first either, but...I got tha hang of it." Bunny said, shrugging, but had a smile on his face.

"So...does that mean I can still make a winter wonderland in your Warren, now that we're good?" Jack asked.

"Don't push it, kid."

Deep in the shadows, a loud breathing can be heard and growling of a dark cave, the water dripping down against the rocks and making it echo throughout the whole cave.

"Generals...I have a job for you..." A voice said, growling and some sharp, stained teeth of a large mouth was shown through the shadows.

"What is it that you wish for us to do, Oh, great one?" Another voice hissed, a greyish black tail that had a black tail with red poison spikes was seen through the light, then curled up around the body.

"The Guardians of Childhood have destroyed that pathetic excuse of a spirit, Pitch Black...I guess it is time that we should rise...and destroy them once and for all." The voice growled again, large lizard like nostrils snorting, letting out a hot puff of smoke coming out of the nostrils.

"But my lord, one of the Guardians is a Pooka." A somewhat female voice said, hissing, a large insect like leg stepping out of the light, showing a redish black leg.

"DO YOU THINK I DO NOT KNOW THAT, VANALISHA!?" The voice snapped, a giant, black reptile like paw stomped down against the ground, making the cave rumble and some rocks falling onto the ceiling.

"My lord, if I may intrude, but the Pooka Guardian is also reunited with his dragon." A male voice said, even though it was deep, it was growling, the wings showing as well from the sunlight.

The leader voice chuckled. "So as I have heard, but it matters not. The pooka and that dragon...WILL fail." The voice said, chuckling.

"So what must we do to stop him and the Guardians?" Another voice rumbled, metals clashing softly against it's skin as it shined through the cave, the tail curling as it had metalic spikes at the tip of it's tail, a purple gem in the middle of it.

"...find the Guardians...and make sure...they suffer." The voice commanded.

"Yes, my lord...it will be done."

The four shadows disappear into the tunnel of the entrance of the cave, about to do their dirty work.

The voice sighed, but had a grin on it's face, showing the sharp teeth. "Soon, Pooka..."

Eyes were revealed to see crimson red, slit lizard pupils and a yellow gem shined against it's forehead.

"I will have my REVENGE of what you did...and I will take everything from you again...just like before."
