I hit the white ball sending it flying into the black 8 ball. "That's how you win at pool." I say taking the cash that lay on the side of the pool table. "Rematch!" Felix demand. His eyes flaming. I guess you could say that he is a little bit of a sore loser. I smiled politely, and shook my head. "I'm gonna go take a run, I need some fresh air." Alec's familiar smell of vanilla wafted through the air as his arms wrapped around my waist. "May I come with?" Alec breathed in my ear. "Nope, you get to play Felix at pool!" I laughed as Alec grunted and turned back to the table. In milliseconds I was gone, flying through Volterra with a sort of determination. So I lied about the walking part, no big deal. What I had in plan would be much more fun anyways.
I heard mournful crying as the door swung open without me even attempting to open it. I gingerly took a step inside, and almost stepped on a bright red blood mark on the white carpet. The cushions on the couch were ripped out, and a silvery knife gleamed from the wall it was embedded in. Swirling sentences of dried blood decorated the pale walls, and the crying was coming from down the hall. Worriedly, I ran through broken glass of picture frames that should hurt, but just left a satisfying crunch under my feet. A saw a thin girl bent over something, her black hair covering her face like a stage curtain. She smelled of perfume and tainted blood with too much oxytocin in it. I should know what that smells like.
I crept up behind her soundlessly, and examined the two bodies she was sobbing over. One was a boy, no older than nineteen. His glossy black hair was tangled and messy, and his marble green eyes stared to the ceiling in an unresponsive manner. He wasn't wearing pants, and his black shirt lay ripped at the seams next to him. A girl lay atop him, her red hair lighting her soft face like a halo. She had pale blue eyes, and porcelain white skin. She was dressed in a loose red nightgown that was barely there. "I'm so sorry Mason. I knew you liked Angel, but not enough to do this. I'm so sorry I hurt you." The small blonde girl's voice sounded broken as a gasp of sobs made her body jerk wildly.
I placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up scared. "I'm here to help." I say. She nods. I quickly scour the house grabbing bleach and giving it back to the girl. "Marcus said their was a situation but this," I gestured to the blood spattered room. "is a bit much." I took the bleach from her pouring it on the carpet. "Go get me a bucket of soapy water and a rag for the walls." I say watching the carpet slightly sizzle from the bleach. She returned quickly with the items a worried look on her face. Her red eyes filled with fear. "Scrub the walls." I say taking one of the rags from her. "I didn't catch your name." I say scrubbing the now pink carpet. "Kesi." She says quietly. "You know for a newborn you are controlling your thirst very well." She drops the red wash cloth into the bucket of soapy water making splatter on the carpet. She shook her head and looked longingly at the dead boy. "I had just woken up from the change when I met Mason. This was a few months ago. I learned the rules and kept my life from him. He got mad and I finally told him. I come home two days later and he's here with…" She trailed off. Standing, I could see bite marks on each of their necks. My mouth formed into a perfect 'o' shape and I picked up the red tinted water and dump it into the nearby sink.
"Do you have a fenced back yard?" I ask watching the water swirl down the drain. Kesi nodded and pointed at a sliding glass door, through which you could clearly see a tall fence. "I'm going to pop out for a bit to get some things that will help with the whole disposal process." I run out of the house and take a right heading for the local university.
I first headed to the chemist' lab, grabbing a few bottles of hydrofluoric acid, and 2 plastic containers. Made a quick dash to the construction classrooms, and grabbed some nails, a hammer, and various other odds and ends and stuffing them in my bag. The once cloudless night sky had given way to soft but persistent rain splattering on my shoes. The temperature was colder, but I couldn't feel it. The only way I knew it was significantly chillier was the pool of steam billowing from my mouth as I breathed. I flashed back to Kesi's home in milliseconds, and spilled the contents of my overloaded bag onto the floor. "What's this?" Kesi peered curiously over my shoulder, a headband now making her hair fall in smooth waterfalls. "Hydrofluoric acid won't eat through plastic. It will, however, eat through organic materials. I'm going to go fix and tidy the walls and rooms, will you just put the knives and..bodies in the containers?" Kesi nodded mutely as she kneeled over the people she killed. I swiftly tidied the hallways so that there was no more broken glass, and blood didn't paint the walls abstractly. Glancing around for an improvisation, I spotted a happy looking couple, presumably Kesi and Mason, on a frame. Yanking the embedded knife out of the wall, I hung the pretty picture over the slight dent. Kesi was laughing, and Mason was kissing her cheek playfully.
I walked out to the back yard where Kesi was waiting for me. "What do you need me to do now." She asked biting her nails. I picked up a bottle of hydrofluoric acid and poured it into the plastic barrel. Kesi gasped. I turned around and lifted a finger to my lips telling her to be quiet. I did the same with the second barrel then secure the lids on both. I went back into Kesi's house and fixed the things that were smashed. Kesi came inside after a while and sat on the couch."Not trying to be judgemental but, you have to seen the possible negative outcomes of falling in love with a human." She looked at me and I raised my hands up. "I was just saying."
Kesi shrugged nonchalantly "I couldn't help it, really.' I nodded understandingly. "I know I sound a bit crazy but I just really thought that he was the one." Kesi said putting her head in her hands. "You dont sound crazy." I say sitting down next to her. "You sound like every teenage girl when their first boyfriend breaks up with them." Kesi laughs and looks up. "Do you think that I'll get in trouble?" She asks. I shake my head. "This happens a lot, accidental killings. You just have to cover them up and move on." I stand and walk out to the back yard Kesi quickly follows. I point to the back fence row. "What is beyond that?" She shrugs. "About a mile and a half of woods. Why?" I pick up one of the containers and scale the fence. Kesi does the same. I run deep into the forest and then stop waiting for Kesi to catch up. "Dig a deep hole and put the barrel in it i'm going to do the same a little ways away." I start to run only to stop a few seconds later. "And don't you dare complain about breaking your nails." I say smirking and running off to barry the barrel.
Once that was done I wiped the dirt on my hands. I made my way back to the spot where I left Kesi only to find the barrel tipped over, acid spilling everywhere and the hole half dug. I panic and looked around. Nothing but a slightly familiar scent was left in the air.
